Loved seeing a production of HG Wells “ The Time Traveller” in this terrific theatre . Intimate , with comfortable seats ( not found everywhere!) , good views of the stage , great lighting , and able to hear from the back row . A short walk to kensington’s diverse range of dining options . Greatly enjoyed this venue.

The team at Nida are very organised and prompt with their service. They take your kids and deliver courses that keep the kids wanting to come back for more. Very approachable staff to help guide you to the next level for your child. Facilities are very clean, neat and tidy

My daughter was part of a school production , and was at NIDA for a number of days and nights. The facilities here are excellent, the staff are always welcoming and helpful.
There are always courses running, during the week, on the weekend, and on the holidays. These courses teach everyone from children as young as 4 all about drama and acting, production and lighting and backstage.
NIDA also has courses for young adults, and adults alike who want to become further educated and have careers in the field of acting, drama, production, lighting , backstage and singing. For more information on the courses, Google NIDA to visit their website.
Obtaining tickets for the productions is easy. The website is easy to navigate and you can pick the tickets up on the night easily enough.
There is a reasonably sized car park that is accessible from the side street off Anzac PDE. Please be aware that this car park belongs to the university across the road, and is patrolled by the Council Rangers.
If you overstay your welcome, or if you don't use the car park properly, you will be issued with a fine.
The entire facility, including the car park is wheelchair accessible, including disabled car spaces in the car park, and lifts inside for easy access to the top levels, and male and female and disabled toilets.
For those who are part of the productions , the stage door is accessible from the car park. The door is closest to be building. This makes for easy pickups and drop offs.
The seating and stage inside the theatre itself is of excellent quality and very well organised. There is also a band pit in front of the front row of seats, and just below the stage.
During intermission of the production, you have the choice to either stay inside the theater, or come out and mingle and have a drink. NIDA is licensed, with bar facilities available. The prices of the food and drinks are quite reasonable, however, considering the fact that theatre tickets for 1x adult, 1× concession, and 1× child cost close to $100, the cost of the night was actually quite expensive. In saying that, the facility is not going to pay for itself, and they are excellent and top notch facilities!!
Staff always willing to help and are always friendly!!

Yesterday we visited Nida to watch a fantastic version of Dickens' Great Expectations. The cast was amazing...the standout however was the wonderful young man, Arthur Gallagher, who played Madgwick. The emotion and true feeling he brought to the character was very memorable.
The theatre serves light meals and we had a nice coffee there.
There is no parking at Nida itself however we easily got a park in the street behind the theatre.

Booked a week before the show Saturday 16th May through ticketek and informed that only seats left were in section B and seats had restricted view. I rang the theatre and was informed that from where I would be seated I could see the centre stage but not stage right. Confused as to why a Drama company would have a theatre designed with seating with restricted view.. I picked up the tickets and was impressed with the venue....prices a bit stiff from the bar, but that's normal at theatres....Had to climb about 50 stairs as there were no lifts, poor elderly people, and when seated realised we were about 3 storeys above the stage and they were right, we couldn't see stage right. Still ok as we had a good view of centre stage. Show started and the lady in front leant forward and my view was totally restricted. She kept leaning back and forward for the whole show.. Very unsatisfactory. Noticed that people in the centre were also having problems with viewing the stage. This Is possibly worst designed theatre in the world. Moral is, if you can't get tickets on the ground floor don't bother with Sections A or B...

I do like Nida and I like to have a reasonable night out without spending a fortune on taxis. So look at the Nida shows as they are up and coming actors and it's exciting to see them. I feel there is a wealth of good and inexpensive restaurants close by and a stroll to Nida and a stroll home (I live in the area) is an excellent night out. You will find stars in the making and it is a very comfortable and roomy theatre.

Keep an eye out for forthcoming performances at this theatre complex located opposite the University of New South Wales. You may find yourself watching acting students from NIDA, seeing set design and theatre direction by other NIDA students, and hearing lines written by developing playwrights. This is an important cluster of theatre performance and rehearsal spaces and has been the training ground for some of Australia's best-known people working in TV, film, theatre, etc. It's a place where you can catch productions of classic plays that are rarely put on by profit-oriented theatre companies. Prices for seats are more moderate than prices in city performance venues, and the bus ride from the city does not take long. As previous reviews indicate, the theatres are also used for school and community events. Refreshments are available, but if you are looking for a restaurant or pub before or after the show you'll need to travel a kilometre or so.

Attended a children's dance concert and I was impressed with the foyer and facilities at street level at the Nida. The main theatre was huge with three levels of viewing. I found the seating quite comfortable. Good sound and viewing. There are other small theatres in the complex which I can't comment on. On the negative side I thought that the drink prices were extremely high in the foyer. Be aware too that there are no restaurants or cafes in very close proximity to the theatre and you will need to walk 600 metres or so down a busy road or take a bus two stops to find a place to eat.
