My daughter and I spent a morning/early afternoon at Cheekwood touring the mansion and walking all over the grounds. It is beautifully kept and even in winter, it was worth the chill of being outside. We loved the mansion as well, and we came back a second time to see the holiday lights at night! It was absolutely stunning and so worth the admission to see it all lit up. The reindeer were really cute, too.

The mansion was fantastic. Interesting history about the Cheek family. The gardens and paths are beautifully maintained. The day we were there they had a great antique car show which added to the day

Did the estate tour early in the morning, which was a great way to avoid crowds - we were the only ones in the rooms at various points, which made for a great tour and some great photos.
The grounds are open and expansive, and beautiful to meander - just be sure to bring water if you are going to be out during the hotter times of year! Multiple restrooms available, all clean.
There were renovations going on (I believe a project to update outdoor stairs) which made it a little difficult to find our way around the back of the property, but it didn't take away from our time there.
Little ones will enjoy the children's garden.
Did not reserve in advance and still got the date/time we wanted. Recommend coming on a nice day when you can fully take advantage of the outside space.

This was a self guided tour of the home and the grounds. There were several docents in the home to answer questions and offer some background. The home is lovely and the grounds are spectacular.

My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful flowers and Mansion. Great spot for photos, we saw a bride taking pictures there.
Nice little café to grab a snack and gift shop too. It's hard to get an uber when you leave, you have to go to the main strip.

Ive been to Cheekwood a number of times now. Most recently for the tulip display, The Lego display and the Christmas lights were amazing. I decided to become a member so I can not miss any in the future.

Beautiful Garden Area. The walk through the gardens was very pretty. We got to see a very large area of daffodils still in bloom. The house is also very interesting. The day we were there, dogs were also allowed to be there, so that was an extra bonus seeing all the different dogs. There was music playing that was very good. Not much of an eating area, but we found something. If you have the time when you are in Nashville, I would recommend this nice quiet place.

My husband & I visited here on a cold, drizzly early-April day. This site is located in a beautiful area of Nashville (our drive to it through several neighborhoods of grand private homes was a pleasure). I had pre-purchased tickets by telephone in order to get AHS membership admission (free for grounds, only $5 for a house tour).
We were too early in the season to see full spring color, but we caught the tail end of Cheekwood in Bloom’s tulip display. You can meander through the gardens on the extensive grounds on your way up to or back from the house. I did notice that the paved road you walk to reach the mansion is somewhat steep (I believe that cart rides are available for those with mobility issues).
Once up at the mansion, we were impressed by the beautiful architecture of the house, built in 1932 with a European influence. After a short introduction by a docent, we were free to explore the interior on our own. The first floor contained beautifully furnished family rooms. There are also displays giving the Cheek and Wood family tree and a timeline. (I would have loved an introductory video with more information about the families and Mr. Cheek’s accomplishment.) There is a loggia at the rear of the house, which would have been a great place to fill with some house plants and/or seasonal blooms—would have brightened up the dreary day on which we visited! The top floor contained some interesting art displays that made good use of the space (an elevator is available).
We had lunch in their casual café (counter service) up by the house; we enjoyed tasty sandwiches and salads. All in all, we spent almost three hours at this site (including our lunch break). We would have spent additional time enjoying the gardens if the weather had been nicer. It was a lovely place to explore, even without the gardens and grounds in full bloom.

We loved the gardens, and they are massive and beautiful. There is a Children's garden with water features, several paths, and a sculpture garden. The house costs us 5.00 each, and there is nothing in the house really, and it is not architecturally interesting. If you want to see a historical house, go visit the Belmont Museum in town. Take the curator tour. It was our best tour of our trip! The gardens had a ton of spring flowers and were very beautiful.

We are going to see the Chihuly exhibit in a few weeks and can’t decide whether to see it in the daytime or at night. Has anybody seen it at both times and preferred one over the other? I’m leaning towards day time so that we can also enjoy the beautiful gardens, but the night time pictures I have seen look spectacular too. Thanks!

And it’s back a few weeks, beyond some mediocre food reviews, but I did review Cheekwood and included a TON of photos
I plan on visiting towards the end of May. What time of year is your “spring” season?

I want to visit the Chihuly exhibition June 2020. I assume it is best viewed at night but I can’t decide which time to choose. Any ideas?

Hi, I am coming to Nashville in the near future and want to tour Cheekwood. I will be using Uber. Is there a particular spot that Uber should drop me off? Does the city bus run by your grounds?

Does it stay open in January?

Yes, Cheekwood is open year-round. If you are visiting by the end of the year, you could enjoy the Christmas Lights throughout the gardens. Quite beautiful and a fun evening activity. The mansion is always festively decorated for the season, too!

Are tickets for a specific time or that day?
Nancy P
Nashville, TN73 bidrag
The tickets are normally for the day, however, sometimes they do have events which have tickets for specific times of the day or night. Its best to check the event calendar or call ahead to find out about the day you plan to visit. The Christmas lights were an example of an event where the day tickets had time restrictions on them.
