The very best type of home history museum. This is included with Thistle Hill and really just a short drive away; you should do both. I was lucky with a solo tour - and the guide was pleased to spend as much time as we liked talking about history, the house, materials, decorations, etc. It's always a treat when you 'vibe' on these things. Upstairs is inaccessible (offices) and had we not spent so much time exploring the rooms I might have missed seeing it, but I left this Queen Ann with a nice appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into it and the remarkable lady that kept until 100.

We did this along with the Thistle House in the same day. All of the guides were very nice and answered any of the questions you had. Some people have complained that their tours were short, but ours went over an house because we had so many questions! It is great to learn about the family, the house, and the history of the area on this tour.

This home has never been restored, everything inside is all original including the furniture. A lot of history and definitely a must see if you enjoy touring old homes. Oyr tour guide, Judy, was so sweet and so knowledgeable.

This home is beautiful, but it hasn't been restored, most of the original furniture is missing or owned by someone who inherited it, and you can't see anything above the first floor because it's used as business offices (ie no bedrooms on this tour).

This tour is part of the package for seeing Thistle Hill ($15 to get into both) and you can complete the second home's tour within one year of touring the first home so long as you maintain your ticket. The tour of the first floor and back exterior was about 35 minutes, but I suppose it could've been longer it didn't take the tour guide 15 minutes to process ticket purchases. Tours are offered hourly 11-2, but the front door is kept locked. It's opened a few minutes before tour time.

There's only parallel parking on the street because the neighboring parking lots have signs which clearly state that you're not supposed to park there.

Was sightseen in Fort Worth when I came across this beautiful house. Noticed a historical marker I looked it up and quite a wonderful part of Fort Worth history.

My husband and I really enjoyed visiting the McFarland House. It's a lovely old home, maintained beautifully, and decorated authentically. The tour guide was very informative. He really loved the house and it showed. The tour was about 35-45 minutes. At the time of this writing, tours begin at 11am, noon, 1pm, and 2pm. For the most current information about tour times, visit http://www.historicfortworth.org/ and click on 'Contact' for the phone number. When I called, they were away at lunch, but my message was returned within a few hours with the answers to all of my questions.

You will have the option to purchase tickets to the one house or to both houses available for touring. We visited both the McFarland House as well as the Thistle Hill house. You'll purchase tickets at the door. The houses are close enough together, that you can visit one right after the other. For example, you can do the 11am McFarland tour and the noon Thistle Hill tour without worrying about travel time and parking time. The McFarland tour is a bit shorter, so we did that one first to allow plenty of time in-between.

The tour tickets felt a little pricy for a 35 minute tour. But I just reminded myself that I'm not really paying for the tour, but rather making a donation to the preservation fund to maintain the house and others like it. In that way, the cost is very reasonable. The renovation costs on some of this stuff must be through the roof.

I recommend this tour to people who like history, art, and architecture. Very small kids will get bored, but even 7-8 year-olds might enjoy this neat old house.

Only three owners of this home, with two being in the same family. One owner lived here for 75 years and kept the house in pristine condition. The tour is not long, and you don't get to go upstairs. It is worth seeing this beautiful Victorian. Your ticket gets you into the Thistle hill house too. They are less than five minutes apart by car so you can get both tours, each starting on at the top of the hour.

Your ticket to this tour gets you a tour of Thistle Hill too. This was my favorite of the 2 tours offered by Historic Fort Worth. The house was left very much like it was when it was in use. The guide also explained a lot of the technology in the house. He told a lot of information about the house's owners, and he also talked about some of the hidden features of the house. The house is the headquarters for Historic Fort Worth, so there is a lot of space that is off limits. You never leave the first floor of the house. Overall, touring these 2 homes is a fun and interesting experience. Each tour lasts less than an hour, but tours start on the hour. So you should plan to spend 2 hours on your tour, or you will need to come back another day to finish the tour. You will need to drive to get from one house to the other. Because the houses do host events, there are no tours offered on Saturdays.

The Ball-Eddleman-McFarlland house is extraordinary in every way. Unfortunately you only get to tour the bottom floor ,would've loved to see the other floors but they 're being used for their offices. Our guide was very informative and truely loved the house. For the $15 charge you also get to tour The Thistle Hill house. It's also beautiful but not as grand as the McFarland house.. You see more of this house but it feels more commercial with the food trucks out front. If you love touring old homes these are a must see.
