Beautiful restored mill and free art museum. We were able to stop in for the Quanah Parker exhibit! The girl inside seemed very friendly and was available if we had any questions- but we really enjoyed being able to wander through and explore on our own. Our girls 7 & 4 also enjoyed it very much. The paintings were great for them and the educational exhibit was really interesting. We enjoyed the hour we spent here slowing checking out each of the rooms in the beautiful building. The museum is free to enter but does run on donations and you can leave your donation near the front entrance. Parking was easy as well.

What a treasure right in Glen Rose! Museum quality art in a fantastic old grist mill. Beautifully restored buildings as well. We had a fantastic tour by the extremely knowledgeable docent and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

Nice gallery along with antiques in former mill built in 1860. We were allowed to explore al three floors on our own. Also a large collection of bronzes. Would not recommend for children .

Wonderful visit with Ann Carver of the Somervell History Foundation! Ann opened the museum on Tuesday (usually closed) and gave us a special tour since we were only there in Glen Rose for 24 hours. This is a great place to catch up on local history as well as view beautiful art pieces and antique furniture.

Many beautiful bronze western pieces by Jack Bryant, Bill Chappell, Covelle and others.

Wonderful western, modern and Biblical bronze pieces by Robert Saunders including famed Texas Ranger Frank Hammer and Coach Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys.

Robert Saunders, Doug Prine, John Saunders and other oil on canvas paintings are exhibited.

Historical building with docent led tour that is very interesting. Highly recommended that you stop and visit this historical grist mill full of beautiful bronze statues and wonderful pieces of art!

First let me say what beautiful grounds there are here. It is the perfect setting for a wedding. It is the old Gristmill and you will enjoy the history of it. It is combined with an art gallery now. Then we took the stairwell upstairs and nostalgia set in. For others, I am sure many Elvis records were played and enjoyed while hanging out in that room. Oh and the other best part. Leave a donation. They don't charge you a ticket price. Really, who does that anymore. I love this place. Take your camera.

Nearly every time we've visited Glen Rose we tried to visit Barnard's Mill. Finally this visit we were successful. The sweet lady working there last Saturday took us on a nifty little tour of the building and threw in some personal history (such as her memories of the place when it was the hospital). The art collection is very nice and not stuffy at all. I mean, it includes a sculpture of John Wayne. How can you not appreciate a collector who sees the value in that? We loved this place. The docent gamely climbed all the stairs to the top with us. It's sad to see it falling into disrepair due to recent heavy rains last spring. They have fundraising for adopting a window. Consider contributing to this piece of Glen Rose history.
