I have never been to a bad concert at Jones Hall. Soloist, Symphony, groups and famous persons have all been worth attending. Those on the committee to select the performances and doing a great job. Not a bad seat in the house.

The symphony is incredible and the guest violinist and conductor was wonderful—BUT we paid to see Itzhak Perlman and did not know he canceled the tour due to Covid.
Shame on Jones Hall for not notifying anyone!

Ok, our first time here. Great easy parking for $12.00. Jay Leno did almost a 2 hour standup routine which was well worth the money spent.
We lucked out and got seats near the front and enjoyed it. The place was probably 85% full. Felt bad for those in the "nose bleed section".
The catered food was really great also.

For Classical music lovers... this is a must. Great performances, and home to the Houston Symphony. Acoustics are great, and sitting arrangements allow a good view from every corner and price range. Parking is available in the underground lot with easy access to the theater. Lots of restaurants in the surrounding area to complete your evening.

We spent the evening toe tapping and even singing along to many classic Christmas and holiday songs. The symphony was great as was the soloist, Ali Ewoldt, who for the past 2 years was starring in New York as Christine in Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera. She had such a pretty, yet strong voice and made the evening even more special.
Our seats were in the Grand Tier Boxes to the right of the stage which was perfect for seeing the performers and hearing the music.

I've been to over 20 shows at Jones hall and loved them all. I worked briefly at SPA for 3 seasons and always enjoyed the variety of shows presented by all companies in the Theatre District. I recently attended Carol Burnett and loved every minute of it.
The only downside is that it's time to renovate and bring Jones Hall into the 21st century. I know they replaced the carpet back sometime in 2003-2005 and maybe even since then but it smells and it's noticeable. Repairs to the exterior of the building have also been done for structural reasons.
The Theatre: There is no center isle making it difficult to navigate the full length of the orchestra to enter and exit. The first 3 rows should be removed because you can't see enough to enjoy whatever show is being performed. I prefer the Mezzanine for most performances. The upper balcony is a HOT BOX as I found out just a few nights ago. Yes it was 33 degrees outside but probably well over 78 up in the balcony. Maybe reduce some of those elevated tiers so patrons are not sitting literally in the ceiling panels.
I love the architecture of the building and I'm not sure how else to improve it but there is surely a way. Just my opinion. I'll continue to enjoy performances there any chance I get. Overall Houston has a great Theatre District!

Jones Hall is one of several venues in Houston for musical fine arts performances (Houston is blessed with a wealth of cultural opportunities, contrary to what some might expect from the oil capital of the USA). The hall itself is feeling a little dated, especially compared to some of the newer venues other cities have built, like Los Angeles's Disney Hall. However, while Houston has a good orchestra with concert schedule and other concert performances in this hall, the newest venues in town are its sports arenas. Thus, you may notice the seats in the hall feeling a little old, with worn fabric and overly compressed cushions on some seats. But overall, it is a nice hall and I have enjoyed many a fine concert in this hall. The Houston Symphony is pretty exciting right now, under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada, and its chorale has been transformed under Betsy Cook Weber, making concerts involving both orchestra and chorale, such as we heart last weekend (Mahler's 4th), truly spectacular.

Jones Hall is an old standard but still a grande dame in Houston’s Theater District. Even though it’s undergoing a few renovations, it’s still always a joy to see any performance here.

I’ve lived in Houston for many years but had never been in this place until recently. This is the home for Houston fine arts (symphony, opera, etc) , but they also offer concerts from world class musicians. I found entry to be quite painless, much easier than expected. Leaving , however, is a different story. It’s not set up well for that. As for seating , I would recommend the lower level if you want a good view of the stage. I would not sit in the pit area or the first few rows behind it. You might be standing a lot.. anything beyond row f should be okay.
Acoustics in the place is excellent.
As for drinks and food, go to one of the nearby restaurants across the street at bayou center or elsewhere in the area. You could go either before or after the performance as many of these places are open late.

Nothing special but folk dancing.... If you are fine art/performance goers, you would be disappointed. If you are not familiar with any Asian culture and this is the first time that you ever meet the culture, you might find the show interesting....

What is the best parking option for Jones Hall and how much does it cost?

Andrew S. I have been lucky enough to arrive 1 1/2 hours before a concert. I select a downtown restaurant that is within walking distance of Jones Hall. When I arrive that early after 5 pm I find on the street parking for free. If you cannot arrive that early there is underground parking across the street. Jones Hall parking has an entrance at 800 Preston. The cost is $15.00 credit card only. Follow the signs and tunnels to enter Jones Hall.
What is a fair tip amount for valet parking at the Houston Symphony? I already contribute to obtain handicapped valet but I want to be fair to those hard working guys.

Anyone know if the Row “b” seats give you a sore neck? Can you the orchestra?
Does Jones Hall offer valet parking

Yes, although I have not used it. Valet stand in on the Texas Avenue side of the venue.
