The exhibit was very moving and showed the history of the Jewish persecution from the beginning of Nazi's rise in power all the way liberation. There are plenty of documentaries and artifacts throughout the tour. A lot of descriptive placards in both English and Spanish.
It took about 3h for me to finish the entire tour. I like many of the exhibits related to World War II. The history of the Holocaust is no exception and this place was definitely on my to-do list when I visited Houston. I was not disappointed by this museum.

We stopped her on our way to Galveston. The museum was interesting. It is self guided however there was also a tour guide who walked through and told the history as well. He was very interesting. Recommend visiting.

Let’s begin by saying I’ve visited the Holocaust Museum on several occasions with docent tours that continue to share the horrendous and abominable Jewish tragedy that aimed to decimate the Jews.

This museum also dedicates space to
showcase phenomenal historical events one of which is the Kinsey Collection a private African American Art and History Collection sponsored by Shell.

This beautiful family has spent decades acquiring one of a kind artifacts that leave you speechless. Slavery occurred and it was heinous and atrocious.

“The Doors of No Return” leave you motionless knowing many of whom who were torn from their countries and families never returned. The one of kind marriage license of African Americans in America before Jamestown was founded. The first African American politicians, civil rights activists, poets, were documented as well as unique art pieces and sculptures. It is a profoundly moving and inspiring exhibit to learn so much about the importance of African American.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see this collection.

A very difficult part of human history displayed in an incredibly moving way. Many videos of survivors experiences and details of their great loss. We must be educated as to how such terrible atrocities were allowed to happen lest we repeat them ourselves!

Amazing place very interesting but very sad, lots of exhibits and far more than imagined. Do not miss out on learning about this most tragic part of the whole of history of mankind.

A very lovingly designed museum in memory of the Holocaust and its victims. You should definitely try the free tour there, I learned a lot. Despite the very sad subject matter, it is absolutely worth seeing. Taking photos is not allowed in the museum!

This is the sixth Jewish holocaust related sites I've visited in the world. What sets this museum apart is it provides an end-to-end overview of the Jewish holocaust history.
1. It provides a comprehensive chronological overview on how it all started, strategies and tactics Nazi used to isolate the Jews socially, and how they were killed, before implementing the systematic and massive killing through concentration camps. This is the part I was not aware of.
2. It also talks about what happened to the survivors after the war was over, the struggle and challenges they faced.

All along, I thought the Nazis captured the Jews and sent them to get killed in the concentration camps. When I visited Auschwitz in Poland many years ago, the main focus was from the point the Jews arrived at Auschwitz and how they were executed.

There is an admission fee (not cheap) and you must go through security check.
There is a paid parking next to the museum with reasonable fee. I don't recommend street parking.
There is a small deli cafe on the second floor.

The main Holocaust exhibits are all on the ground floor. Better to start with the introductory film before seeing the exhibits.

Plan for at least two hours to look through the holocaust parts thoroughly. There are several videos on the holocaust survivors telling their own stories throughout the exhibits; they are worth listening. Their stories help bringing exhibits alive.

There are other temporary exhibits, if you want to see them also, suggest adding another 1-2 hours.

Educational and sobering.
A classic contrast of evil vs good: brutal Nazis vs non-Jews who risk their lives to save the Jews by taking them into their homes and hide them or sponsoring their immigration.

If you are in Houston area for sightseeing, I recommend visiting this place. It's in the museum district of downtown Houston.

First time I came on my own and it was closed for some reason so second time with the family we entered.

We had to go through security metal detectors and bags inspected. No guns, pepper spray allowed inside.

Admission was reasonable and children 18 or younger were free. Parking was $8.

The free guided tour was already full so we decided to wander around on our own. There was the main Holocaust section, an outdoor memorial, Family Memorial Room and two special exhibits on Human Rights and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG).

I was admired RBG and they did a great overview of her life and accomplishments.

No photos were allowed in the permanent Holocaust gallery. Exhibits, photos and artifacts from survivors or their families that came to Houston were informative and a lot of reading. A rail car (similar vintage to ones used to take people to the camps) and even a boat (used in rescues) were installed inside the museum.

One unique exhibit was a virtual conversation with a Holocaust survivor.

A worthwhile museum to visit in Houston.

A small museum but wonderfully curated. Like any museum dedicated to the holocost it is hard to visit on an emotional level, but the presentation is appropriate without being overwhelming. Definitely a worthwhile stop in Houston.

I was appalled. This did not honor the memories of those who suffered in the Holocaust. It was an insult to them. You walk in and see all this BLM and LGBTQ propaganda. If you want a museum for that, knock yourselves out! However, this is not the place for that. I can't say I'm surprised by the people who gave it good reviews. I guess that's the world we live in. Pathetic.
