I did the VIP tour and was very happy with my choice. We got a real behind the scenes experience and got to prepare snacks for the wolves. We learned so much about their history, habitats and personalities that I felt that I knew them all personally by the time I left. I cannot say enough about the staff and caregivers of this sanctuary. This is not just their job but it's their life. They love these animals and endure extreme weather year round to make sure the wolves are safe and comfortable at all times. This is a highly respected sanctuary in the animal sanctuary community. Even the international vetinarians speak highly of them and look forward to their visits at Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary. Don't delay, go a visit this amazing place.

Sweet sanctuary, well worth a visit! Seems very well run. Tour was interesting and educational, sharing stories about the animals, how they came to live here, and how they care for them. My 8 year old loved it, as did the adults in our group. It was hard for my 6 year old to listen to the information on the tour, but he had a great time overall. Our tour guide was exceptionally patient and answered all our questions - even my kids’ questions. Great information, very safe, clean, and orderly. All outdoor except the gift shop. You can tell they care deeply for the animals and know what they are doing.

Somehow I missed the clear memo that you need an appointment to tour. I was super lucky and they let us pay a little more and join in on the daily tour, but I do not think this is something common. It was very much appreciated. The story behind this sanctuary is sweet. The wolves are rescued and happy. You get to hear all their stories. Totally worth the visit and would pay triple to tour it again - it all goes to the critters. Small gift shop onsite as well.

This was our 2nd visit, and we loved it even more than the first visit. The staff are great. Abby who led our tour was engaging and extremely well-versed in the lives of the wolves and wofldogs.

Stopped in with our Photography club for an outing last year. It is amazing that they take the time to save these animals. Well worth the visit.

Hidden treasure if you love to be educated and entertained with information about wolves and wolf dogs and their individual stories. Capacity is 14 animals but the sanctuary will be moving to another larger facility in the future.
The curators are knowledgeable and interesting, very willing to answer questions, and it’s evident that they care about their animals. Each wolf seems to have his or her own personality which makes them all the more interesting as the curator tells each one’s story. We also enjoyed the other curator as she explained the training needed to provide medical care for each wolf.
It’s easy to make reservations through their website and the fee is reasonable. Read the information and get directions also. Go!

The Wolf Sanctuary was worth the trip. The Handler was fun, very knowledgeable and made the experience great for the variety of ages with us. What a humanitarian endeavor we can all be proud of. I wasn’t that excited to go but thought it would be something to do with my grandkids. It ended up being a great outing

The work that Richard and the wolf sanctuary are doing is so important. It is clear that they love these animals and are passionate about their well-being. My mom and I enjoyed learning each wolf's story while understanding how the sanctuary came to be. I was instantly enamored playful Meeko! Excited for them to move into a bigger location soon so these wolves can enjoy more space and fulfillment. Please support the sanctuary and their efforts!

The facility is a bit Spartan and somewhat small, but the staff is clearly committed to their cause and is dedicated to providing a positive experience for the wolves and wolfdogs. The tour takes about 90 minutes and on this day was led by Richard, the co-curator. His knowledge of the history of wolves in the world and the US was most informative. Each animal in the sanctuary has their own interesting history and personality. My only wish of what I would have liked to see but did not was how the wolves would have reacted to staff who actually entered their enclosures. Although their reactions to people entering their spaces was described, it would have been somewhat fascinating for me to actually see it. It was a particularly nice January day and we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

This review is for the lady that automatically gets all the email inquiries, Abigail. I booked online the last three spots available for their tour during closed hours of operation. In my comments section, I requested if there is another spot available, I will take it as I have a family of four. I show up early to my 1 pm tour and Abigail doesn’t even greet me or smile or anything. She rudely tells me I have to pay an additional walk-up fee which is double the original price. She told me there’s simply not enough room to have one more person on the tour as they have exceeded capacity. Let me just say it’s an outdoor venue (not a room with seats). I truly felt ripped off as there were less than half the people there on time for the tour. She could have worked with me to offer the same rate as I requested it in advance and it was my immediate family..not some last minute add-on. It just shows what a little bit of effort on her part could have made a better experience. I would have left a generous donation if I didn’t feel so extorted! The tour itself is lame. The stories about how all the wolves and dogs got to their shelter were ok, but there are no real interactions and the animals were non-active and mostly sleeping or hiding away. The tour guide and caretaker Richard is friendly, passionate and dedicated. Do yourself a favor and go to the Texas Wolfdog Project instead. It’s a little more money, but worth every penny and they will greet you with southern hospitality not like a thorn in your side like they do here.
