One of my favorite theatrical spaces. World class talent and entertainment, family friendly theater, with an intimate, dynamic atmosphere that makes you feel like you a part of the show each and every time. 10/10 recommend.

My wife and I have gone to the Hale Theater in Orem, and am delighted to report that their Summer 2021 production of Sound of Music was utterly delightful. The cast carried their respective parts with conviction and heart -- great voices, great music -- a delightful experience!

I love HCT and their shows are amazing. I went to Les Miserables last night and the cast was amazing. The reason for the 1 star is because during the second half of the show there was a sewage smell that was so awful that it made me physically sick and it ruined the show for me. I was sitting on the last row right next to the sound tech booth so the only way I could get out was to climb over about 15 people. So I breathed through it until I couldn’t anymore and ended up climbing over all the people and booking it out of there and ended up throwing up in the bathroom. When I called today and asked them to make it right they said they couldn’t do anything and said sometimes patrons smell bad and we are sorry you sat next to a patron that smelled bad. This was not the smell of someone that smelled bad. And I do not have the flu or some other kind of sickness because as soon as I left and got some fresh air I was fine. I’m really disappointed in them for not making it right by refunding me for part or all of the price I paid or giving me another ticket.

Attending Hale Center's production of Christmas Carol has been a family tradition for so long I can't remember when we started.
This years rewrite is awful. We would have left at intermission wishing we could get our money back but we know that's impossible.
We experienced awful add on charges beginning with the original purchase to the needed changes.for COVID with no concession available. Their policies offering 1 option which required additional charges. If Hale Center cared about their patrons they would want to assist anyway which may include a refund. 2 wk quarantines definitely limits a patrons availability. This let me know they would prefer patrons attend ill.
Sadly We'll be searching for a new annual tradition. This year we left totally disappointed instead of the warm feeling we so look forward to as part of the beginning of our Christmas season.
My recommendation would be to place your money elsewhere.

Beware of COVID time at the Hale Theatre! Look under "Ticketing Policies" in the finer print when purchasing tickets. We purchased our tickets on a Thursday at 6 p.m.. On Friday at 6 p.m. we were emailed a nice reminder of the Monday performance we had planned to go to. On Monday at 11:00 a.m. we received an email saying they had cancelled the show because of COVID. Travel time to Orem is about 3 hours and we were nearly there by then. We actually missed seeing that email at the time and went to the theatre at 7:45 p.m. for the show. Apparently the couple in front of us and the two couples behind us must have missed the late email also. We were given the option of rescheduling, donating the ticket? really? or a gift certificate - no cash refund. We did notice the next week was cancelled, but the show was scheduled for the following week. Apparently the box office personnel weren't exposed to the virus or they shouldn't have been there. Also, how could the show be scheduled after only missing a week instead of 14 days... Or could the theatre have already planned to cancel the show, but waited until purchases were made? There were only a few seats available when we purchased our tickets.

Probably the worlds smallest stage for live productions.
But the owners & actors do a fabulous job. Seating for less than 100 patrons. You are so close to the action from any seat there. Really decent prices. Family friendly, clean shows.
Not enough parking so you may have to park on the street.
Pretty old building. Tight seating.
But overall a delightful night.
Our first time there but definitely will go back.

I was so displeased. Normally I love hale center theater in Orem. Everything I have taken my family to see that has a kid friendly title (Peter Pan, little mermaid, Christmas Carol ) has been absolutely phenomenal and we all love. The acting is always wonderful and the take on each play has been fun and refreshing. I was so excited to see Matilda there as it is one of my favorite books. I guess I was unaware of how crude the musical is. I should have looked into it before but I just assumed another kid friendly show. Lots of sexual innuendo. Lots of dark and scary parts. Many parts that really made me upset me to have my kids there for. I don’t know if it was all the script (some of the songs definitely weren’t great so I assume it is partly script at least) but not very kid friendly. We left at intermission so I can’t speak for the second half of the show... would have left sooner if my whole family had been sitting together but we were broken up with whatever seating we could get. Didn’t enjoy at all. (Matilda herself was a darling actress.... just have to leave that bit of good about her. Would have loved to have seen more of her)

No matter what play is playing a the Hale Center Theater, they never disappoint. Every performance is a great experience.
