Always a great place to ski. it has gotten busier with the Ikon pass but infinitely better than Park City Mountain Resort or The Canyons. The staff is fabulous and helpful. The instructors are excellent. The grooming of the runs is first class. Food on the mountain is excellent but pricey.

I've been skiing here since the year the resort opened and I was a child. It used to be my favorite place on earth and I was so happy to share with my own children. But it's just too expensive. It's become a place for the uber rich and it's not worth it for that - after rentals, tickets, lessons, food -- you're easily talking a thousand dollars a day for a family of four. I'd rather fly the kids to Switzerland and ski there for less.

Our experience was this - Employees of Deer valley ski area smoking marijuana in the Parking lot - we heard the employee say - i work at deer valley . We decided to go to another ski area that day due to marijuana smoke and what we heard from the worker.
The next day we decided to ski at deer valley -.our experience was this -.lift line operator commanded or almost yelled at skiers where to be in line or who to join on a chair ride . Seemed very hostile towards the high priced ticket holders were skier were treated . We also observed skiers indirectly targeted to of using someone else’s ski pass - as names were barked - out by lift operators as they were in ski line and they are in trouble using there own paid ski pass. Constant hawk eye lift checkers and large letters on computers pass holder identification check . Very weird any ski area I operates like this seems deer valley ski resort created a hostile ski environment created by ski area and how they treat paying public for ski tickets or ski passes
During our stay we skied at other ski areas called Alta and Snowbird. These ski areas were many times better skiing and employees were more friendly or enjoyable or had better management. We felt more comfortable here and these areas had better service and snow and management . Both ski areas get highest score with human resource management as most kind fun employees are found here.

Great group lessons and ski resort, but do not use Polly for any private or group lessons. She is older, too opinionated, and crabby. It makes for an unpleasant experience at a very expensive rate.

We skied here for 2 days and even despite the lack of snow the groomers did a good job. Best to ski early in the morning and be done by lunch. The Turkey chili was as good as I remembered.

I have Food Allergies and was trying to safely order lunch for myself and I was rushed through the line and wasn’t able to ask questions about what I could safely eat, the even messed up my order the first time and tried just removing the item I was allergic to which isn’t ok. Never eating here again wouldn’t do it on threat of my life.

Great place to ski groomed trails with family and friends. Shelled out the high price for a day pass for my family so we could ski with friends. Don’t regret it as had a great time on the groomed trails which are mostly relatively short in length. It’s fun and no snowboarders is a plus for many. Also Deer Valley limits the number of lift tickets so it’s not as crowded as PCMR or Canyons. Lift lines were less than a 2 minute wait. NOT a Vail owned resort (which some other post stated). Lunch at Snow Park was very good.
Not all trails are groomed and there are some “expert” level slopes and moguls available for more advanced skiers.

This is a great place to ski. So much terrain I didn't ski the same area twice in five days. Cool, no snowboards, so no deep ruts to deal with. We love Deer Valley.

Our expectations were high. Afterall, it's Deer Valley. They were known for their groomed runs and hosts up on the mountain. What happened? Not all trails are groomed. The ones that were groomed, are not any better than many places that we ski at. We never saw a single host up on the slopes.
I asked a lift operator at the top of Carpenter lift where a run was. I thought it was close. He didn't know and suggested I look at the trail map. Guess I could have pulled out my phone, but with the sunny day it is hard to see. Ok.
When you arrive mid- mountain and want to ski back to base @ Snow Lodge, you are forced to ski down a little, then take a short chair up to continue on.
We did think the food was good and expensive. But, hey, it's Deer Valley. Sorry Deer, we like Sun better.

Hi -- if you had the choice, would you visit in December/January (winter break) or the first week of April (spring break)? Which has better snow conditions? I assume it will be busy/crowded at both times. Thanks in advance!

January really cold, not good for kids, April warm snow is getting heavy, our spring break is the first week of March. We like that.

I'm coming in for a ski weekend shortly, with my flight arriving at noon into SLC. We're doing PCMR all weekend but thought I'd try and hit DV the day I arrive since I have an Ikon pass. Is it worth even trying to get on the mountain the afternoon I arrive or is that a pipe dream? Impacts logistics planning.

The slopes have been closing between 3:30 and 4:30, and yes you could do both. And it is good to know Deer Valley does not take the Epic Pass and no snow boarding at Deer Valley (snobs, ha!)

Silly questions, I don’t ski. Do I need to purchase a lift ticket to enjoy the fine dinning in the evening? I’ll be coming from a condo on Main Street with friends. I thought I could just take the bus... wanted to be sure.

Not real sure, but I would assume you would have to buy a ticket anytime.
Good luck!

What’s cheapest easiest way to get from SLC airport to Deer Valley? I’d love to find a public transportation way or cheap bus/shuttle to go for the day.

The cheapest way would require using bus route 901/902 from slc proper, but the logistics would be hard becuz the bus only runs very early in the morning and you would need trax green line to get you into the city

Hi there. We are headed to this place this weekend. Do you have to breing your own chair or are they provided?
Nancy L
Salt Lake City, UT15 bidrag
Yes you could bring your own chair (less than 9” tall) If you’re attending a concert (summer). You could also bring a blanket or rent a chair there . Sorry it took this long to see your question .

Looking for a base lodge location to change into our ski boots on arrival, then head to ticket window with our ikon passes.

Sounds like you need locker for your walking boots. Since we drive our car to Deer Valley, we changed into ski boots at the car. I don’t know whether lockers are available. Most rental places and restaurants on site store skis while you eat or overnite; I would check with them. If u already have ikon passes, U might not need to go to ticket office (you do need paper lift ticket to affix to your jacket). Hope this helps — enjoy the skiing.

We are debating about renting our equipment from Ski Butler or the local shop on the mountain. Any advice?

Salt Lake City, UT62 bidrag
Hi, I would rent from the shop at the mountain. If you are renting multiple days it is free to check skis in on mountain for storage. Also if you have any issues it is much easier to get it taken care of on the mountain if you rent equipment there.
On mountain vendors are very friendly and easy to work with. Enjoy, Deer Valley is the best. The food is Fantastic. Try the shepherds pie and the Cherry pie.
nos vamos para park city agora e vamos ficar só dois dias. queria saber se da tempo de esquiar e se não se tem alguma outra atividade na neve.

Thrift stores in SLC, Heber City, Oren. Incredible prices. You can also rent, but I'm not sure where.
