Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!! I had a facial in the spa here and the next day I broke out in a horrible rash on my neck and face - still have it 4 days later. I have no known allergies and its not heat rash so God knows what was in their product. I emailed to tell them and ask what was in the product they used, no response. Place was also crawling with mosquitoes. Stay away for your health.

We really enjoyed the bean to bar workshop with Antonio, who was an excellent host. There was some interesting history and making our own hot chocolate/chocolate bars was good fun. Antonio was a fun guide and brought the process of chocolate making to life.
As a side note - we were going to hang around the pool but it didn't look in particularly great shape (not like the picture above)!
Thanks, Heidi & Joe

A short and interesting ten minute free tour with an optional tip jar at the end. Don’t spend money on the chocolate drinks, they were nasty. Overall though, quite disappointing.

The bean to bar chocolate workshop at the ChocoMuseo is one of the best things to do in Granada. It's a great activity for anyone looking for a hands on experience. Not only did we make our own chocolate, which was delicious, we also learned so much about the chocolate making process and the history and importance of cacao in the Mayan culture.
Within the historic city lies the Choco Museum, a delightful haven for chocolate enthusiasts like myself. Located in a gorgeous colonial house that is also a hotel and spa, the museum is a delightful haven for chocolate enthusiasts. Stepping into the museum, I we were immediately greeted by the rich scent of cocoa beans and the welcoming smiles of the staff.
I visited with my daughter who is 18 and on the autism spectrum. She really loved this activity because it was fun and engaging and the staff was so accommodating and helped her have a great time. The workshop starts with an engaging presentation on the fascinating history of chocolate. From its ancient origins in Mesoamerica to its global significance today. We learned about the traditional methods of cocoa cultivation and processing, as well as the cultural importance of chocolate across different societies.
Following the educational portion of the tour, it was time for the hands-on chocolate-making workshop. Our hands-on experience included making a pre-colonial traditional hot chocolate drink, roasting and grinding cocoa beans, and finally molding our own chocolate bars and decorating them with salt, coconut, and other toppings.
There is a café on site that offers a wide array of chocolate-based drinks and desserts, including rich hot chocolate, velvety chocolate truffles, and decadent chocolate cakes. A chocolate lover's paradise!
Our experience at Choco Museum was nothing short of delightful and it was one of our favorite activities in Granada.

As a museum, the place is amazing. Interesting info about both production process, origins and history.
I loved the taste of raw crushed cacao beans (which they allow to taste). However, jfyi, the 100% chocolate bar they sell tasted nowhere near it, it is still buttery and sugary compared to the raw ones. I would say it tastes much closer to the usual 70% one. Brownie also tasted the same as in a good cafe.

Very calm and relaxing, it is the touch I was looking for outside of my work and home, my wife very devoted to the unique drinks with chocolates they prepare, a bit expensive for nationals if they want to expand, national breakfasts and very delicious by the way. Nice room, super affordable price and good service in the bar, restaurant and chocolate shop. The room needs to have a better smell and better check-in and check-out protocol... and yes! We will return because of the privacy and warmth of the place.

The chocolate experience was fun and informative. We got to make and take our own chocolate bars plus the sample tasting.

We were 4 adults who each paid $25 US for a 90 minute workshop. The guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed this learning experience. However, another person first sat close to our group to listen, then decided to join the activities, without paying, and our guide never said anything! On the contrary, he started to include the intruder in all activities, and all tastings. I felt it quite unfair. Charge us less if you are going to let others join free.

First impressions did not last with this hotel visit. **
I visited this hotel September 11, 2022.
I was very excited to visit this hotel and museum with family who are locals of Granada. We made whole trip out of it and reserved 3 rooms to stay for one night at the hotel because we knew they had a great reputation years back. We were interested in doing everything we could with the tours, workshops, massages, food, etc… but our stay was not as pleasant due to the conditions of the hotel.
Upon arrival, everything at store front and main lobby looks neatly set up, clean, and smells so good, but that’s the only good lasting impression we had.
Once given access to our room located upstairs we started to notice a lot of issues with cleanliness, animals, maintenance, and staff.
1. They have their pet dogs/ stray cats roaming freely in the entire facility. At most, they put the dogs in a room with wooden boards so the dogs get loud when you walk by them. I am an animal lover, but it is clear that these animals are not trained and are not well taken care of, which raises concerns of cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
2. Maintenance is lacking throughout the facility. On our way to our room upstairs it is clear that the wooden boards have not been reinforced or are loose and feel as if the staircase is going to cave under your feet. Upstairs in the balcony, and in some of the rooms, some floorboards are loose as well and you can see the first floor through them.
3. Choco pipi aroma and cleanliness. Once in our room, we noticed a strong unique smell of a combination of urine chocolate, and must. Then we found cat hair on one of our beds and had to ask hotel staff to change the sheets before we used the room. The room we were given was also not properly cleaned due to dust and dirt found on surfaces, such as the chairs in the room and the TV stand. our bathroom also had the appearance and smell of mold. When we went to bed, we also started getting Flea bites.
4. Bodily fluids and waste. We saw residue of some type of liquid that had dripped by the TV stand, and the room smelled very strongly of urine masked with some chocolate smell. The day after we spent the night we found fresh rat feces on our TV stand.
5. The beds are terrible. The beds that we slept on were very worn, and quite frankly painful to sleep on due to the springs poking us.
6. Hotel staff refused accountability. Initially hotel staff were accommodating due to first complaints at first impression were not as serious. Initially, we were just inconvenienced that our rooms were not ready when we arrived at the hotel. However, upon discovering more of these serious concerns and problems, hotel staff became defensive and minimized a lot of these concerns and blamed us for being nitpicky and unreasonable. They refused to accept feedback that could potentially help future customers and accused us of trying to tear them down and hate on them. While they did provide us options for accommodations to try to appease us, our main reason for staying was that we had our elderly grandmother with us and nearby hotels did not have floor level rooms to accommodate her.
We were so dissatisfied with the service and conditions of the facility that we did not feel comfortable partaking in their other services other than the use of their pool, after discovering so many more concerns the rest of that day.
**Note that due to the unfavorable nature of this review, it may be taken down by hotel staff. I have copies of this review and will repost if needed in hopes this hotel can be improved.

Does anyone know how much is the chocolate liquor at this location?
Skrevet 21. november 2016
It cost me 450 cordobas or $15 for a bottle.

Is it necessary to request free airport pickup if arriving in MGA later in evening or does shuttle run on a regular schedule?
Skrevet 27. mai 2015
That is a good question. I am not certain. Once we cleared immigration & customs it was about 9:30pm and there was an individual out on the curb coordinating loading onto the shuttle. Once you leave the secure area and exit the terminal the shuttle pickup is on the right. I had tried to email the hotel in advance to advise of my arrival but the emails never went through. This is a popular hotel for individuals arriving in MGA and I suspect late at night they know when international flights arrive and send a shuttle to meet flights.
