We were here on 27-04-24 in the afternoon and we can tell you that it is a singular place and the gentleman at the ticket office told us that the abandonment of the site meant that ignored people (intelligent for them) stole or took away thousands of heads and those that remain are only the third part of the heritage that Bentivenga had sculpted. Today there are around 3000 of them. As we said, this kingdom was the territory and home of Filippo Bentivegna, born in Sciacca in 1888. He emigrated to the United States at a very young age, moving from Boston to New York and then Chicago, and had an accident on the work that marked his life and in 1919, having returned from the USA after the Great War, he closed himself in this farm in solitude, giving life to the court of the kingdom populated by sculpted heads. In 1967 his death came and the following year, a collaborator of Jean Dubuffet, theorist of Art Brut, arrived in Sciacca, who recognized the artistic importance of the work of the "madman of Sciacca" and so the site was renovated and open to public. Today some of Bentivegna's heads are exhibited at the Art Brut museum in Lausanne, established in memory of Dubuffet. Highly recommended visit.
Hello from Roby and Lucy from Sant' Anastasia (Naples).

Access poorly suited to PMR

The problem is reaching the site, from via delle Sequoie it is impossible, the navigator directs you via Bentivegna but it is narrow and not asphalted, and there is no alternative signage

This was a very unique and interesting attraction. It exceeded our expectations as it isn’t just another castle, despite its name. It certainly has an enchanted atmosphere to it. It is a sculpture park full of uniquely beautiful art. There are also very interesting caves in the area, which you can explore inside. If you want to see something different when visiting Western/Southern Sicily, this is it. It is very easy to visit this, Sciacca and Capo Bianco together, if you have a car, as they are very close to each other.

Very suggestive but disappointing place... The castle doesn't exist so why call it ENCHANTED CASTLE??? Many faces all the same which, despite telling a story, bring sadness. ..The caves are cute....nothing to say about the beautiful view though.
The ticket is not worth what you go to see.. I wouldn't recommend it.

Not to be missed! Super recommended: you walk thinking about the life of this man, retracing his story, the view is breathtaking!

... whose obsessive creativity found its expression in this rock garden with thousands of stone heads.

I find the lives of such people so incredibly fascinating because, despite their humble origins and without any schooling - let alone academic training - they have risen above everything that could have been predetermined for someone of their status.

A simple man, born as one of many children into a poor fishing family, he fought his way through and returned to Sicily from the USA as an obviously broken man - who had also failed to find happiness in love.

He had suffered a serious head injury in the USA and was unable to work. In absentia, he was sentenced to three years in prison in Italy as a deserter. Before he began his sentence, he was subjected to a psychiatric examination and declared insane but not dangerous.

A gaunt man who looks almost like his sculptures in the black and white videos shown in the exhibition room.

A driven man, someone who evidently had a need for art and for whom self-realization in his sculptures was as important as the air he breathed.

You constantly read about him that he created his own kingdom with thousands of stone subjects - as if he was some kind of quirky little man plagued by an inferiority complex.

I don't think so, though. I think that art was a calling for him, something that elevated him above everything that was meant for him as a fisherman.

Perhaps this was also his way of dealing with an unrequited love.

Who can claim to have become a nation's cultural heritage after their death and over the years?

Admission costs five euros and is worth every cent. On the terrace downstairs next to the entrance you can drink a wonderful ice-cold glass of white wine.

I was in this wonderful and quite suggestive place, full of emotions and imagination.
My son was very happy with this visit, full of history and imagination.
The quarries where the stones were taken from, the trees carved into the shape of faces.
Truly a great experience.
I highly recommend the visit.

A man who expressed his emotions by carving rock and logs. Locked in his kingdom with his subjects.

I give 3 stars because the place deserves to be enhanced and MAINTAINED better as it is a "cultural asset" place
I'll post some photos of the bins full of rubbish at 11.30am.
