I visited this beach with my partner on a day where the temperature was in the high 20s, there was no wind and the sea was very calm.

The views from this beach are stunning to say the least. The sand is lovely and flat and the beach gently slopes into the sea.

We spent a few hours on the beach and a significant amount of time swimming in the sea.

Parking is free for National Trust members.

Arrived with the kids for some fossil hunting- check tide times as believe you see more at low tide. Inc the famous Iguanodon footprints. Free car park for NT members and toilet onsite. Steps down to beach by cliff face with great views of west Wight.

I swam at Compton twice last week. Gentle shelving beach, which really extends at low water. Rollers can come in, depending on wind, hence popularity with surfers. Plenty of space for all particularly if one walks for a few minutes from bottom of steps, more. Car park free to NT members. Free toilets

Nice little beach, clean water, pleasant evening beach walk. Carry picnic mat and windbreaker for a long and relaxed time at the beach

Very busy, car park is free is you are a national trust card member. Not my favourite beach on the island and in my opinion shanklin, sandown and Ventnor are all better with better facilities. It depends on what you are after I suppose.

We visited here twice in July. The beach has a National Trust car park park which we thought was reasonably priced and toilets nearby which were ok as far as public loos go but really handy. There was an ice cream van parked up here both times we visited which was nice and he sold body boards too which we purchased for the kids at £10 each. There are quite a few steps down to the beach which didn’t bother us but worth mentioning for people that it might. The sea was lovely and the bodyboarding was great fun, the boys even went off in search of fossils. Really peaceful, enjoyable beach and we would definitely visit again.

During a short break my husband surprised me with a walk on the beach, a beautiful sunny day. He enjoyed many happy days there on his childhood holidays but it has taken 34 years to take me!

Good car park, (National Trust funded), with well maintained steps down to beach. Sandy and pleasant beach with half dog-free & half dog-friendly. A good central area for swimming & surfing but some stretches very rocky for swimming.

My husband myself and my 2 year old son visited We got there around 1.30 to the car park over a hour you have to pay 4 pound for the carpark and walk down quite a few stairs there was an iceam van selling boards buckets £2 and spades £2 and icecreams £2.50.
There are toilets are the top next to the car park they were not nice at all but handy to have I suppose.
The tide went out about 4/5 and we looked for the famous iguadon footprint bit couldn't find it but lots of fossils and a fun area to explore.
The Sand is different colours which is interesting was lovely when the sun came out.
Had a lovely afternoon there.
Dogs allowed on one side of the beach.
Don't bring a pushchair or buggy.
