This trail gave great information on why Gros Morne is a UNESCO site. The early part of the trail is easygoing. There is a trail beyond the viewpoint but it is definitely not for the faint of heart

Trail was very nice, clean, well maintained by Parks Canada. Big parking lot to accommodate lots of vehicles. Views were great! I highly recommend this place!

We did this 4km trail with our 12 y.o. The weather was very nice, very sunny and hot, 26 degrees. No shade during the walk so it was very hot. Our daughter did not enjoy this trail.

Stopped in to hike a part of the trails and they did not disappoint. The scenery was breathtaking and felt like you were transported to another place or time, like a mountain pass in the old west or to the surface of a distant planet. Would recommend to anyone interested in hiking the area.

The landscape is unusual looking, almost like something from another planet. The geological features are very interesting. Amazing views of the area.
Since we are not used to hiking, it was a moderately difficult hike. It was well worth it though, for a chance to walk on history, earth's mantel.
Make sure to bring drinking water and wear layers. One moment the cold wind was blowing and I needed my jacket, the next moment the wind had stopped and the sun was shining.
There was one outhouse at the trailhead which wasn't very clean, and there was no where to go to the bathroom once you are on the trail.

Driving from Woody Point to Trout River you will come upon this special place. On the right side of the road is the typical green NL vegetation while on the left there is a reddish brown flat topped mountain barren of vegetation. The tablelands were formed hundreds of millions of years ago when the Africa plate collided with the North America plate and forced the mantle of the earth up. It is actually the remains of the ancient ocean floor. This rock lacks nutrients for plant life and is toxic to them so the look is that of a barren desert. The reddish brown color is from the rock that is high in iron and is actually rusting. Who knew. The parking lots get you close enough to take a short stroll even if you don't do the whole hike then you too can say you walked on the ocean floor.

the scenery is wonderful. the hike is harder than it looks . the boulders are large making it difficult to walk on.
But it is worth it. Take plenty of water and a snack if you want to go to the top. takes several hours.

We knew because of the terrain and mobility problems we would be unable to walk out to the main area. However the short serpentine loop walk adjacent to the car park gives you close views of the pitcher plants and other flora and a desolate landscape. Much is made of the Tablelands scenic drive, but this basically is just the drive to Tablelands and not a road through it. Make sure you have all weather kit as conditions can be difficult with the wind and the rain and there is no shelter.

Seeing all the nearby hills covered in green and yellow trees, made this hike so much more striking.
The geological formations here are barren, but spectacular.
The pathway is well maintained...some rocky parts, but just watch your footing...lots of solid bridges spanning the 22 brooks which are forded along the trail.
When we were there...the wind picked up, which seemed fitting in such a desolate place...but you could still find lots of vegetation nestled amongst the rocks.
The end of the trail is a lovely waterfall, where an amphitheater allows you some great views...as well as views up the valley.

It will test your physical stamina but worth the tramp up to the top of those "old worn down Application Mountains". Your efforts will reward you with some stunning views. If you have the trampling experience you can manage without a 'guided tour '. Our Hiking Club had the advantage of a Geophysics as a member.
