We visited during a dry spell in southern Queensland and there was barely a trickle of water flowing over the falls. Still, an impressive drop of 120 metres and must be a sight when the river is running high. Close by the falls and the (tiny) carpark is the Wompoo track circuit of only 1.3 km through the rainforest. It is mostly on the flat and makes for an easy, pleasant bushwalk. Nothing too spectacular, but nice enough and takes about half and hour. Not much else to do here. There are toilets.

On the day of our visit to this national park we were in luck as there had been considerable rain in the area the previous day. This meant that the falls were putting on quite a show. Fantastic views of both the falls and the valley from the very well maintained viewing platform that is a short walk from the car park.

National Parks normally have something of interest, with some packing in as much as possible for visitor. This park relies on the views, as parking is limited and restricts the number of visitors able to view the scenery, whilst the falls are dependant on rain to give the falls something special to view. Very little water was flowing during our visit, giving us little to view. Its was very well maintained area with toilets available. The falls and view will always mean different things to every visitor, whilst we did not venture far on the walking track. It was a nice view from the deck on a fine day when we passed by.

We only drove there we didn't get out of the car as it was raining. Looks beautiful and if you're into walking and site seeing, then highly recommend it.

Parking can be tricky when it's busy. Toilets at the entrance to the park. There is a 1.2km circuit walk through some beautiful rainforest area, which leads from a small picnic area. This is flat and quite easy but you may wish to take some insect repellent. Longer and more demanding walk down to the base of the falls.

We visited while it was raining lightly but it soon stopped and it was misty and beautiful.We went on the short walk and saw a little bit of a waterfall as its been raining leading during the week.The view from the lookout was awesome and deep in the rainforest were the hugest ferns.Magical place !!!

The track (Wompoo Circuit 1.1km) is in good condition, and is a very easy walk for both old and young alike.
Adequately signed and with numerous info boards en-route.
Unfortunately... no waterfall to speak of!
Yes, the Mapleton waterfall itself is right beneath the 'lookout' platform located at the carpark but... in the dry season it does not flow.
Perhaps consider another of the National Parks close by, like Kondalilla Nat Park.

The waterfall of this NP is huge.. And oveooking the valley from the lookout felt like something you've seen in a movie. Quite surreal.
Real shame bout the view of the waterfall though, you can hardly see it! Did not get any good pics of it due to the angle and its size and location.
The carpark is so freaking small, very squishy like sardines but it was packed when we visited also!
The short wompoo circuit is short, few steps at the beginning but quite easy nonetheless. We weren't prepared and wore things and sandals and we managed fine... No power walking of course though.
It was just a walk through the rainforest. As usual. The peregrine Lookout was OK, but view was sad compared to the main Lookout.
We expected more from this NP and it's features unfortunately.
