I want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU for making Sean & Kaitlyn's wedding the very special day they were dreaming of! From Check in to check out it was a wonderful experience. Jason at housing check in was so helpful, attentive, & made our stay seamless. Staying in the Colonel housing so close together truly enhanced our event and the historic properties added to the ambiance.
Erin, our wedding coordinator, was AMAZING! She made sure that the event was flawless! She and her team were extremely professional, attentive and on top of every detail. Erin made herself available to answer every question from start to finish. She handled any concerns and personally made sure that the event was perfect. We felt 100 percent taken care of because of her personal interactions. She is a huge asset to the Fort Worden Hospitality team!
Catering did a fabulous job. The food was all amazing from the appetizers to the main course. The presentation was gorgeous and every bite was delicious. Our guests were raving! The access to the venues was simple and extremely flexible making setup and tear down of decorations as stress free as possible. Fort Worden Hospitality is a great place to have a wedding!

While you cannot visit the lighthouse at preset time, you can walk out near it. You can also explore some of the old batteries from the fort. A few more information signs might have been nice. Alas, no whale sightings!

There's so much to do in this state park. Lots of military buildings and heritage to see. Beautiful beaches to see and play in. The marine museum is here. You can walk to the lighthouse and go inside it. There are old military fort buildings to wander through. We had a ton of fun.

AMAZING PLACE to hike right from your campground to see spectacular views of the Strait of San Juan De Fuca and Point Wilson Lighthouse. Hike along the beach to see sea life and many eagles, osprey and other bird life; for the adventurer, hike from North Beach at low tide out to glass beach. When you are tired of enjoying the beautiful scenery, you can relax at your campsite or head into Port Townsend, just minutes away for amazing restaurant options.... try Alchemy Bar & Bistro for fantastic gourmet prepared food by Chef Adam and his wife Lily. They have a formal menu and also a lighter fare bar menu (the burger and fries are SO GOOD..., ).

This was a wonderful vacation. We were very comfortable staying in Corporal's row. The park had so many things to do, we were busy the whole week just visiting sites on the fort.

Perfect venue for a 4-day party of 22 adults and 5 children. So safe and so much to do! Everyone was happy. Excellent customer service. The Commander's House (4E) has an excellent big kitchen and dishwasher. The furniture and decor are 19th century and very much fun.

Beautiful day exploring the fort was thrilling for grandchildren to run through and so cement structures intact. Short walk to lighthouse it was closed but you can walk around structure. Beaches; area to picnic and bathrooms.

I visited both Fort Worden and Fort Flagler (over on Marrowstone Island) in the same day, doing Flagler first and then Worden. By the time I got to Worden, it was early afternoon and the entire place was pretty busy. Flagler had been the opposite! Fort Worden is definitely set up to maximize park usage, which certainly works to its advantage for upkeep and revenue, but for a history buff tourist like me, I prefer a little less crowd. My wife & I went to see the historic fortifications, the Puget Sound Coast Artillery museum, and the Point Wilson lighthouse. Unfortunately, the only fortifications you can get to by car are Battery Kinzie (which was very crowded, since it is right next to the RV campground, beach, and science centers) and Battery Vicars (which is small and not notable really). The hike to get from the parking area to the other, more secluded fortifications is just under a mile - not really something I was interested in doing after hiking around Fort Flagler for three hours that same morning. And finding that route was tough since there was no signage pointing vehicles to that side of the park. So, we skipped the outlying batteries, and only visited Kinzie and Vickers. Kinzie is really big and impressive, with a fantastically beautiful view of the surrounding cliffs, so despite there being folks shouting and carrying on inside, it was still worthwhile.
Point Wilson lighthouse was unfortunately closed for filming, but looked neat from a distance. There was a group of people fencing on the beach, I'd never seen THAT activity on the beach before! There ended up being two museums down near the parade ground that I thought looked interesting, the Coast Artillery museum I had planned for, and a tour of an Officer's Quarters - but both had short business hours, and I was unable to squeeze both into an afternoon. Each is managed separately and has its own cost.
The Coast Artillery museum was good, not as good as the Fort Flagler Historical Museum but broader in scope and with interesting artifacts from throughout US military history. The room with information on how Puget Sound, Seattle, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca was defended during WWII and the Cold War is the most interesting part. The museum is within an old barracks, so the space isn't conducive to a typical museum flow, the customer service desk is between the two galleries so you have to pass back and forth to see everything. There was a guided tour of the museum going on, but from what I heard, it wasn't worth spending the time on - the guide was basically just saying what was on the signs, and the tour was barely through the first room by the time I was done with both galleries - and it had already started when I arrived! There is a small entrance fee, and they have books for sale on a variety of interesting military history & local history topics.
Overall, the museum was the highlight, and worth the visit alone - but again, if choosing between Worden & Flagler, I'd recommend Flagler & its museum over this one. As with any other Washington State Park, you need to have a park pass - which you can buy on-site for $10 for the day, or $30 for the year (and it covers all Washington parks). Consult the Washington State Parks website for specific location, some parks have both machines that take credit cards and a visitors center option, some only have the machines.

Does anyone know the amp on the rv campground? Thanks
Skrevet 29. september 2018
I have not camped there, but there were many large campers seen. Call the park and ask, I’m sure they’d be happy to help. Good luck!

Where is the old military jail located and can you tell me more about the bar that's in there?
Skrevet 30. mai 2017
It is called Taps and us to the left of the main intersection in the fort. excellent appetizers, wine, and local beers.
Skrevet 18. oktober 2017
Only from the outside of the buildings. Each place on the Fort has offices of operation. But the entire park is open year round to driving through it and exploring the canons and bunkers that are open. Sorry answer was so late.

What is the cancellation policy if a group's situation changes and can't use the reservation for the Reunion building?
Skrevet 30. desember 2016
Sorry - I don't know their policy about cancellations because I live nearby. Contact them right away though, so someone else can take the spot. They are in high demand I hear.
Skrevet 31. desember 2016
We're having trouble getting through to set up an account for reservations. Any suggestions?
Skrevet 2. april 2016
Is the facility open to just explore, I'm with a school group of 12 looking to snoop around a historical site.
Skrevet 28. mars 2016
Yes it's open. Everyone will need flashlights. It's pitch black in some places. The kids need to be responsible. No railings so if the horse play and someone gets pushed it could be bad.

Do your dormitories provide linens, blankets and pillows with bookings?
Skrevet 16. mai 2015
I believe those things are included. These are like an Inn with shared bathrooms.

Are there former military accomadations at the park available for overnight stays?
Skrevet 4. februar 2015
Great place to stay. Park rangers are very helpful. Check out the Port Townsend Marine Science Center while at the park.
