This was my and my partner's first visit. We are both avid travellers - US, Europe, India, Nepal, Costa Rica etc. I will try and provide the good and bad. I hope the organisers take it with the spirit to improve.
First, we booked their Sunday brunch ($50+pp). We were served COLD Uttapam w sambar and nariyal chutney, samosa chaat (1/4th samosa dunked in green and Imli chutneys), some muesli, fresh fruits, choice of 2 types of bottled juices, mango lassi. The first impression was that of a SCAM.
2) As it was a Memorial Day weekend, we got a room with detached bathrooms (shared). We were under the impression that these bathrooms would be open only to residents of the booked rooms. These are $100+ per day rooms. NO..... These were also the public bathrooms to be used by hundreds of visitors who were their for the day trips. So, you can imagine the state... There was no seat cover, no paper towel or hand dryer or anything in spite of reminding the organizers thrice. We saw seat covers once in one of the toilets. My advice- much nicer to stay in wheeling and make a 45 minute drive. It is only $40 more.
3) The palace of Gold is beautiful but ostentatious- I bet Srila Prabhupad would walk out if he saw what the devotees have done in his name. It would have been nicer to see some of the money to be spent on the exterior, signs to different places. 4) Some inconsistencies- They had nice electronic lock for the free exchange of used things????? No lock for the building where the hostel rooms are because they also house the public toilets.
5) Nothing to do... No Yoga, No discourses... even though it was on the agenda. Half hearted effort by a young priest at 8 at night due to repeated reminders. It only lasted 15 minutes though.
6) Some nice things- The devotees were lovely- The enthusiasm was catching.
7) The free prasad they served was heart warming and delicious.
8) The Gaushala- Seeing cows up and close was nice. It could have been cleaner operation but its a farm..no complaints. We did end up making a donation at this place due to religious reasons (We are Hindus).
9) The singing and dancing at night was lovely esp the enthusiasm of the young nepalese priest.... Relearning what joy can be.
In general, we went with a spirit of devotion but came back dispirited and scammed. We likely would have made a larger donation than what we currently spent there but did not think that the donation would have been put to good use.

Although I was expecting a huge temple but the campus is definitely big. The Radha-Krishna Idols inside are extremely beautiful. Must see if haven't.

This was an attraction to visit on our way to Moundsville WV. We had a stop to appreciate the beauty and serenity of the grounds, but felt a little out of place and like we were intruding.

It is a beautiful and serene place. It is definitely an awesome place for devotees. It also offers a peaceful environment to non-devotees and can be a retreat from the busy lifestyle.

My understanding it is a destination spot for many Hindi people, it has an air about it of spirituality created by the long deceased founder.
It is literally in the middle of nowhere but worth finding if you are an open minded sort. If you are generally opposed to other religions, don’t go as you will spoil it for the other visitors.

Came over here around lunch time (1:30PM) after visiting the Palace of Gold.
Both parking and lunch was free (except for a couple of dollars to tip). The lunch is surprisingly really good! Plentiful portions of curry, rice, desserts - loved it.
At this temple, you'll need to take off your shoes to go inside. There's a few lovely sites and a gift shop to look around.
The gift shop is SO busy.. we were trying to get our free gift and it took the worker quite a while to get back to us.
Overall.. wow, what a unique experience! I really felt immersed in another culture here.

...I finally went inside this nice Krishna temple that's by an awesome small lake in a beautiful corner of West Virginia. It's part of a retreat center that has cabins for rent, a restaurant, the beautiful lake with some interesting Hindu and Krishna related sites around it, and this peaceful little temple. It's part of a Krishna community with the larger Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold temple at the top of the hill, which is more like a tourist attraction with an admission fee and a guide taking you around. This is like a smaller, less ornate temple where you see families and other visitors come in to meditate and do their religious practices. I believe it also serves the broader Hindu community and not just the Krishnas. I just like walking around the lake and seeing the peacocks (a couple of which are all white), statues, and peaceful people and kids just having a good time in this beautiful setting. Guess I live a little over an hour away from here and always think about coming back; I intend to visit more. I really wanted to see the inside of the temple this time and if you know me, I don't want to go inside anywhere these days. But there was very few people here today, and the place is big enough so I spent about five minutes walking around inside, of course being my usual double-masked self. It's pretty inside, and there was a man in robes playing a guitar and singing for a couple small families sitting on the floor in front of the main murti/altar. So wish I had a family to be here with and so lucky that I don't. It doesn't make a difference, I know I wouldn't be happy either way.

A very odd place for such a temple if you are unfamiliar with the history of the community. Free to visit, parking simple, big gift shop, helpful staff. Worth a look if you are at the Palace

You need to see Vrindaban, india to understand authenticity. But this stands on its own with its own history both good and bad..... it is now a goo safe place but it needs to be seen in context of India ..... the Western world has catching up to do

It's hard to describe what you see when you get through the winding narrow mountain roads to the top of the mountain. There's a breathtaking huge gold temple surrounded by a lake, a farm, cabin, wandering peacocks. This is definitely not something you'd expect to see right outside of Moundsville WV (stop and see the burial mound and prison on your way).
There are small cabins you can rent near the lake that would be perfect if you're looking for a peaceful contemplative stay. Well, well, well worth the trip.

I guess that depends where you are coming from. We got the following directions from the West Virginia Welcome Center on the I-70 (after leaving Pennsylvania):
"Take I-70 for 8 mi. to Exit 5A: I-470 W Columbus. Follow I-470 W to Exit 2. Turn left at Stop Sign, then right onto Route 88 South. Follow to US 250 South, the McCreary's Ridge Road. Follow Palace of Gold signs."
It wasn't difficult at all getting there!!!
We are planning to come there on July.Is there any motels or hotels inside or nearby?

There are limited number of rooms /cottages within the campus. They get booked well in advance in summer. I urge you to book over internet/phone. The nearest town Wheeling WV has 15 motels and is about 15 miles away from the temple.

Yes, use your car lights as there are no street lights. Watch for deer at night too!
