Not your usual art museum! Most art museums' sculptures and paintings are focused on rich people, Jesus, politicians, royalty, and other elites, yuppies, and other selfish and awful people. The Grohmann's collection is focused on the working class, the poor, the tradesmen, the builders, the craftsmen, and skilled and educated workers of the upper class, but not the rich snobby elitists, or those whom were simply born into royalty, or a trust fund kid. All the art is very skillful and unique! And a great bargain at only $5.

Cool art gallery. I enjoyed it, my kids did not. lol. For the price you cant beat it! $5 bucks for adults. Kids where free!

The museum was great, and a little surprising. Lots of 17th Century pieces, as well as 19th Century work. Apparently forges, and factories and farms all provide lots of interesting settings for artists to explore intense light sources, smoke, etc. The collection is well displayed and logically arranged. For $5.00 ($3.00 for seniors) it is a great bargain, and worth an hour or so of time while visiting Milwaukee.

Amazing downtown museum with a rich and focused collection centered on labor in many different forms. Although you will see a preponderance of 19c German romanticist works, there are may others on display and the signage and space are excellent. Definitely worth going!

Read this review with the understanding that i wasn't prepared for this to be a private collection about work. So, I was shocked that very little about American workers. As I'm from Pittsburgh, I expected the iron and steel section to have a good number of works reflecting US steel workers and industry. Nope. The rooftop sculpture gallery, although beautiful, included only one woman depicted as weak and exhausted next to her strong male companion. There was nothing in the collection acknowledging the incredible contributions of the "Rosie the riviter" generation. And you can probably guess...zero about the work of American enslaved people.
The facility is beautifully designed. If you go, just keep in mind that this is one man's collection.

It was very educational. I liked that it had

Beautiful and unique art museum. It is just as much a science and history museum as it is an art museum. It illustrates the history of work and industry through the visuals of pieces of art.
Much quieter and less busy than the Milwaukee Art Museum that gets all the attention. This is a larger museum than I expected for $5.

Excelente el museo me encanto . Sus pinturas y como esta todo organizado por secciones es muy cool los invito a visitar y puedan deleitar su vista con excelentes pinturas y estatuas.

The Grohmann Museum is a hidden gem. Super easy to get to, tickets won’t break your pocketbook at $5 for adult! a lot of street parking and near downtown. This is part of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) rightfully the predominant theme revolves around “The Art of Work”.
Literally from ceiling to floors, art is all around you. Floor Mosaic, stained glass windows, ceiling murals, bronze sculptures and striking paintings. Many of the paintings depict actual historical events and places!
There are 3 floors and an amazing sculpture garden on the rooftop. This museum was very well planned and laid out meticulously for all ages. Definitely we will be back to bring others to appreciate this fine example of Art at Work!
