Tripadvisors tilnærming til anmeldelser

The price may seem steep, but this is a once in a lifetime ride to see molten lava flowing just feet away from you. Great trip and crew.

Expensive? Kind of. Bumpy? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely!
The ride to the from the lava flow was fast & bumpy, but getting there quickly meant more time to go back & forth in front of the flow, which was incredibly powerful & beautiful. Tip: you can get a sizeable discount for paying with cash.

Very close to see lava and suggest to sit right side of the boat to see more clear. The ride was very exciting too if you like to ride speed boat.

Yes the surf makes it a bump ride, but worth it, once in a life time tour, guides were very knowledgeable.

Got up at 3 am to drive from Hilo hotel for our exciting boat ride near the lava flow. Rough ride, read the small print. We were perfectly safe, but the boat has a lot of horsepower and seemed to jump from wave to wave. Reached the flow while dark and watched the lava pour into the ocean and change into sand. The experience was accented with the hissing and the clouds of steam and the heat rising off the water and past the boat. We were there for a breath taking sun rise. You need to be in shape to make the ride. The disclaimer says you have to be able to climb a 10 foot ladder and do a rugged hike. One of my boat mates was not up to it and spent the cruise hanging on to the back of the boat and vomiting into the water.

Great experience, you feel the heat, the smells ,a total experience, felt safe , the personal attention to safety was appropriate..The best, a smaller boat, plenty of space, not crowded like other boats

One of the more awe inspiring sights of my life. And the ride back exhilarating like being on a wave ski that sits 40 people lol . Apparently a 28 acre lump of lava rock broke of recently causing the lava flow to become more of a torrent. So currently the flow into the ocean is a spectacular as it gets. 800 million cubic feet a day creating the newest land on the planet. And a powerful illustration of the sheer fury of nature unleashed. OMG was used a lot and with a lot more reverence in this circumstance.
If you have a bucket list this should be on it.
The colour of the molten lava against the black of the lava rock and the white of the steam extraordinary
I will be going again

There are not many operations running boats out to see the lava go into the ocean and as far as I could tell only one of them has a metal hull. This boat is a bit larger, thus more people, than the others we saw but because it has a metal hull, it goes right onto the shelf - right up to the molten lava, so it is definitely the one to use. The boat's name is Lavaone. Make sure you get that boat. This is expensive and not that long so you want to maximize your experience. Worth it if you can afford $250 per person for an hour or so.

Great trip but pretty rough seas. Not sure they need to go as fast as they were going. If you get seasick take a pill first. When I booked they said they would be at the lava sight 30 minutes but it was more like 20 minutes with a 30 minute ride there and back. No need to pay extra for the evening trips as you can see the lava just fine during the day. We took the 2:30 pm trip. I would recommend this as long as the volcano is flowing heavily. Had a group of Kona locals on the boat with us.

If this isn't on your "bucket list" it should be. A very moving experience. Despite heavy seas the Lavaone's masterful skipper, superior design and four 250 HP outboard Hondas never skipped a beat. A helluva show it was too! We took the sunrise tour with the super moon setting behind Kilauea.
Be sure to keep your electronic devices (including car keys) and wallet in waterproof bags as you are likely to get soaked if there are real seas which is the norm.
Breathtaking! This is the top of the line!

The boat leaves from the parking lot of the Issac Hale Park; not sure about the mileage.

Are individuals with disabilities permitted to take the cruise?
Skrevet 30. mai 2017
Mmm interesting question
It may depend on the disability You need to be able to climb a 10 foot ladder to get onto the boat. If that's a problem you physically wont be able to board the boat.
The owner operators talk a lot about the rigours of the trip being bad for people with back backs or who are pregnant or who have physical limitations.
It is a bit like being on a 40' JetSki so you are going to get bounced around
so the on board environment is not wheel chair friendly

cost and availability. Also duration of trip? How big is the boat? Where do you depart from?

If I remember right, $250 a person- check the website. It leaves from a park on the south coast - long drive from Kona, I think we left an hour from Volcano. Two hour trip. Check to make sure lava is flowing in the sea -- I thought I'd saw that a lava shelf had collapsed and blocked the flow into the ocean temporarily.

Is there a bathroom on this boat? Some boats do not and i know thats important for many people. Thank you.
Skrevet 7. januar 2017
It is very strongly advised that you use the bathroom (it is at the park where we meet the boat) beforehand. There is a bathroom on board but our ride was so rough that I can't imagine using it would go well.
Skrevet 9. januar 2017
Very. The boat bashing into waves will send spray through the boat. You will get soaked. We were 63 and 58 years old, so don't let age put you off, but it is a rough ride.

Our you running tours to see the lava flowing into the ocean in April 2017? What sort of cost would it be for a family of 2 adults and 2 children (8-11 yrs) please?
Skrevet 2. oktober 2016
