I went with my mom. We found a spot in the shade and there were not that many other people. There is a lifeguard, a shower (outdoor/public) to rinse off salt and sand, and a bathroom. The only negative was the floors of the bathroom were wet, so it grossed me out to walk in there. The water was calm when we arrived around 9:30, and the wind picked up by noon or so. Several people snorkeling around, gorgeous Maui views.

Great little beach. Calm water and never gets crowded. North end of the beach has great snorkeling as you round the point to the other beach. Can get real windy and choppy late in the day. Good spot to watch sunset.

This is not the prettiest beach of Maui. It was quite crowded and dirty. Homeless people in the parking lot. The wind is bad. There are rocks to the left and right so swim with caution. The lifeguards were fantastic and were very alert.

Long cove with clean beach. Access to bathroom and outdoor shower. Plan to grab an on street parking spot. Nice boardwalk ramp to beach.

Very calm beach on main drag. Water was warm and clean. There are on peninsula to the left of the beach.

This beach was beautiful and we spent a lot of time on this beach. We could see whales from the beach and we enjoyed several sunsets. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed the humor of the lifeguards after it had rained.

We stayed at Aston at the Maui Banyan literally across the street so to have this beach so conveniently next to us was amazing!
I have only gone to water once or twice and it was refreshing, no crazy currents, and I must admit the sand is super soft and powdery like others said here! Is it the prettiest beach in all of Maui? No but it's never crowded never too busy, and it's a loooooooong strip of sandy shoreline to enjoy
Sunsets each night here were a tone of fun!
TIP: some limited parking along the street (the Park I and III have some extra parking) - there are showers, restrooms here, and some vendors not too far away for a quick and easy walk (and grocery stores too)

This is hands-down our absolute fave swimming and sunset spot in Kihei. On our last visit, we had a sea turtle bobbing up and down nearby as we enjoyed our morning dip. Breathtaking experience.

We visited many beaches on Maui and Oahu this month, and Kamaole II was our favorite. Our condo was located on the north end of this beach, so not near the lifeguard stand and public access. But it's the same sand and a short distance from the public access to the beach. The sand is fine and beautiful, and there are very few rocks on the beach. We saw sea turtles and fish when we snorkeled, and our son had fun with the boogie board when the waves were higher. Many people did paddle boarding, especially in the morning when water was calmer. Such a lovely spot.

The beach at Kamaole 2 is a nice crescent of sandy shoreline with good entries into the water and close to the south Kihei Road with amenities.Some low-key resorts line the shoreline along this stretch of ocean. The waters are normally quite quiet but rollers can get fairly high. It has a rustic feel to it with a little more lava rock on the shoreline. Great little beach for kids with good snorkelling at either end. Nice beach trail runs over the lawns and along the sand along these three consecutive beaches.

How easy is it to park if the street is full? What are other options for parking?

Kamaole I has a small parking lot and a large lot across the street.
Kamaole II only has street parking, but I,II, and III are all in walking distance.
Kamaole III has a large parking lot and also on street parking.
They are all equally good sandy beach parks.

Are there public washrooms and beach chairs there or would people have to bring their own?

There are water showers to wash the sand off of you (they are located outside though), but no, there are no beach chairs. You have to bring one from your resort (if they provide one).

We are going to be staying in a house on Llunlu Rd. in Kihei and are interested in close by beaches--house has beach access but not sure what the beach actually is at the house. Are the beaches nearby within walking distance and suitable for children?

Yes, they are manned by lifeguards and very appropriate for children.
