Nice place

This museum boosts a lot of photo & interesting things to see. Gift shop has great finds & prices are good. You start your tour by watching videos which are quite informative then do a self tour. The guides are knowledgeable. Nice to do on a rainy day!

There are interesting photos of the Leper Colony and its last residents. The sugar mill was interesting.

Lots of history
jan. 2020
This is a great place to find out some history and how sugar came about on the island. There was a short video to watch about the sugar mill and the restoration that took place in the 1980's. Unfortunately, the sugar mill is in need of restoration again. It is too bad that once the mill was restored, that it wasn't used to show how they made sugar - might have kept it in working order. There is also a lot of history about Hansens disease, how it split families and how the people with the disease thrived in their lives. The people working there were very knowledgable and helpful. A place to see.

History of a Sugar Mill
nov. 2019 • Par
This is a small museum that focuses primarily on the history and restoration of a small sugar mill. This mill is in need of restoration again, as it appears to be succumbing to termites. There are also pictures of residents of the historical leper colony. The employees are incredibly nice and knowledgeable. It’s a thing to do when in Molokai ;-).

Worth visiting. I learned a lot about the mill and the history.

I enjoyed visiting the Museum and Cultural Center. There is an amazing photo exhibit of the people of Kalaupapa ( where the lepers lived). Just so moving. The docent was so friendly and so informative. The old sugar mill was very interesting. I learned a lot about the history of the mill. Children would enjoy the mill and they would learn a little history. Also, there are a few picnic tables to use.

Loved the docent who shared her knowledge of the area. Enjoyed the 20 minute video on the sugar mill restoration. Great to tour the mill afterward.

Tremendous barn restoration and displays
apr. 2019 • Familie
If you want to learn about Kalaupapa Peninsula as well as the running of a small sugar mill, this museum is a great place to start. It is packed with pictures, letters and articles from the Peninsula with a short video about it and the Meyer Family and their sugar farm. The docent was extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. The restored barn has numerous restored, original pieces of equipment that are well labeled. We enjoyed our visit there very much.

This is a great place to learn. They have a rebuilt sugar mill here. All the old equipment has been refurbish. The museum tells the story of that project as well as the history of the leper colony. A lot of intersting pictures.

Cute, but skip it if you know Kalaupapa history.

This is a small museum that features a restored sugar mill and a photo exhibit of Kalaupapa. It's not bad by any measure but it shouldn't be on your priorities list of places to visit. The entrance fee is $5.00. The lady at the front was super nice, but in hindsight I would have skipped it. Molokai has so many better experiences to offer.

Molokai is so different from the other islands and it is well worth the effort to get there. The museum is small and offers large photographs of those who made an impact on its history. The staff was very helpful.
