Waimanalo Beach was just superb. There were only a few people around. We parked our car about 500 meters away at the main road.

Was for us one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. We were there several times. Showers and parking are available. Dreamlike simple! Light blue and clear water. It's worth it.

Beautiful beach. We went twice on our trip and both times it was not crowded. Plenty of space to swim and enjoy the beautiful water and scenery.

This was our favorite beach on Oahu. The waves are a little strong, but fun. Stepping into the warm water, the bottom drops off quickly but not too deep. This is where the waves break. Walk a little further and the bottom comes back up and you can walk out pretty far. The water was a beautiful green. We sat under the pine trees that are just a few steps to the soft sand. Parking is along the nearby street. On the Friday that we went, parking was no issue and even later in the afternoon there were very few people. The lifeguard came by on their ATV twice. Calmer waters are at beaches to the south, but these waves were much more fun.

I was looking for a scenic beach to relax. I found Kaimana Beach first but it was a little too crowded for my taste. I traveled a little further and found Waimanalo Beach and it was simply beautiful. Barely any people there, miles of white sandy beaches and the water was an absolutely breathtaking blue. If you’re looking for a little more privacy to just relax and take in the views, I would recommend Waimanalo Beach!

We brought our grown kids and our grandkids here for a full week over Christmas of 2023, visiting from the midwest and from Arizona. Our group of 20 fit very well into the large Cottage #11, adjoining #9, 2 Two-bedroom Cottages #8 and #10, and 2 One-bedroom with sleeper futons #5 and #6. We LOVED the large, upstairs #11 with wrap-around balcony, breezes, a view and large kitchen for gathering, cooking, and eating together. All the cottages, furnishings, kitchen supplies were attractive and in great condition. Carolyn or Tommy were easily reached by texting or a phone call if we had any needs that we hadn't thought of ahead of time. Their beach chairs, boogie boards, paddle boards and such that are there for sharing were readily available. The grounds were pretty, the coin-operated laundry was welcome. the grounds are secure, which made us non-locals very comfortable. The kids and
adults alike enjoyed walking to and on the beach and playing in the waves. Our family enjoyed many visits to 2 walkable restaurants: Ono and Kalapawai Market. From the 5th Cottages, driving to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, or Costco was accomplished in 30-40 minutes or less.

Scenic long and wide sandy beach on the windward side of Oahu. Stopped by here one early morning and it was absolutely deserted. Homeless encampment on the south end of the beach is a bit of a turnoff as is all the warnings about being a high theft area. Sounds like it gets crowded with locals on the weekend.

Absolutely one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world; comparable to Pampelonne Beach in St. Tropez but even prettier with softer, whiter sand and no crowded beach clubs. Faces east so shady in the afternoon with nice breezes. Park on north lot away from homeless shelters. Simply beautiful. Risk - people let their dogs off leash here so beware of that risk.

What is the recommended time to arrive during this time? We are heading there this week and trying to figure out best way to best the crowds

Yes, but beaches can get very busy depending on the day and time of day with designated parking filling fast.
Waimanalo kind of fits this description but parking places seem to open up on a regular basis.
As long as you are not blocking a road or driveway, police are pretty lenient.

We plan on camping in waimanalo beach and have read reviews about homeless and dirty bathrooms, can anyone confirm if the bathrooms are acutally clean?

We stayed in a home on Waimanalo Beach down from the camping area in March 2017. There were some homeless people staying more along the beachline in makeshift tents but they were harmless and very nice. They mostly kept to themselves. Most were not locals - we met a couple from the US actually that purposely went to Hawaii homeless. There are homeless all over the Island just like in the US. They mostly stayed in their shelters until evening and we saw them fishing and at times going through trash for recyclables. They were always very polite and friendly. We stayed 8 days and never felt like we were in any danger. We walked around at night to the few restaurants and went to the beach to watch the moonrise. I used the public restrooms once and found them usable - not extremely clean but not disgusting either. Waimanalo is a gorgeous beach - very private and we've even seen it in commercials after we returned home. It is used mainly by locals who are all very friendly and welcoming. If you walk down the beach towards the south, you will come to a huge reef filled with colorful fish and sea turtles that you can snorkle with. I would go back tomorrow if I could :)

I visits in November 2016 and some individuals were living in makeshift housing towards the Makapu'u side of the beach area. We walked down the beach towards the Bellows Beach side and felt safe. The presence of a manned Life Guard station was reassuring.

Hi Kololi family,
my family and I are looking at coming to Niue in April of 2015.
I have used your accommodation when we last visited the island in 2011 and found it very comfortable. We used your chalet then.
Because there are a few more of us can you please tell me how much it would cost to hire the main house out for a week please and would it be available at that date?
Could you possibly check for the following week as well just in case we stay longer than the 1 week.
