This is a smallish lake/pond, located in Golden Gate park.
While nothing much happens here, it's a good enough place to pass a couple of tranquil minutes on a bench.

O Spreckels Lake Model Yacht Facility, comumente referido como "Spreckels Lake", é um reservatório artificial atrás de uma barragem de terra e clube adjacente situado no lado norte do Golden Gate National Park de San Francisco. Concluído em meados de março de 1904, o reservatório foi construído para o uso de velejadores modelo de todas as idades, interesses e níveis de habilidade, projetados especificamente para velejar em modelos de corrida e para propagar as habilidades e ofícios necessários para construir barcos em escala de todos os tipos. O Spreckels Lake é considerado um dos melhores exemplos e um dos mais belos do modelo naturalista, instalações de barco feitas pelo homem modelo do mundo e está sempre aberto a qualquer pessoa que deseje navegar suas águas com poucas restrições. A instalação é também o lar permanente do Yacht Club Model de San Francisco (SFMYC).

Stopped for a few more Utes to view the lake area with gentlemen sailing their remote controlled motorized toy boats. Very unique to watch the fancy toys the men had out on the water.

This attraction is going to depend on your love of model boats. Its one of the many different attractions located in golden gate park. There were many working model boats that i saw on the lake ranging from sailboats to power boats. There is quite a gathering you could see up close the different boats. And the owners were enthusiastic about talking about their project.

The San Francisco Model Yacht Club, founded in 1898, is the oldest model yacht club in the Americas, and the second-oldest yacht club in the San Francisco Bay Area. Model Yacht sailing involves the same physics, the same tactics, and follows the same Racing Rules of Sailing as do big boats. Weekend mornings will see grand model-scale power boats on the south shore, and almost every afternoon will see formal (and informal) sailboat racing on the north shore. If the tile-roofed boathouse across the road is open, stop in to be wowed by the hundreds of sailboats inside!

On a warm windless day, at the beginning of Indian Summer, we visited Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park, one of the finest manmade model boating facilities in the world. As if they were creating wind out of thin air, model yachtsmen raced their crafts back-and-forth past ducks and gulls on the opaque green water.
At lake edge, we met two friendly gentlemen sailing their elegant model boats. With ease and grace, they trimmed the tall sails by remote control. In between tacks, they kindly educated us about their specialized hobby and extraordinary club.
We were told the story of Adolph “the original sugar daddy” Spreckels, himself a model yachtsmen, who built the lake specifically for model sailing. Established in 1898, the SF Model Yacht Club is now the oldest in the Americas.
We peeked into the stylish WPA era clubhouse, and were welcomed by enthusiastic club members eager to show us the world’s largest collection of model yachts. Arranged by class, the boats are intricately hand crafted, and immaculately maintained.
Boating season runs from March to October and regattas are held on the weekends. Every day, powerboats run in the morning, and sailboats run in the afternoon when the west winds usually pick up.
We were charmed by the friendliness of the model yachtsmen, and impressed by the skills required to sail a boat by remote control, on a warm windless day, at the beginning of Indian Summer.
