Front the street, it looks like a hundred other old brick churches in the US, but the inside is SO unique. My first thought - oh my goodness - it is shaped like an egg!
The architecture speaks for itself and it is simple in it’s decorations.
Highly recommend popping your head in.

Beautiful church. Went there for mass. Google maps had faulty data on when the Basilica was open. Check the Basilica website for mass times.

We heard that the person that did the tile work at the Biltmore house pool also did the ceiling at the Basilica, so we had to make a stop to see it for ourselves. So glad we worked it into our Asheville visit! It is a gorgeous church, rich in history and beauty! The docent at the door was so friendly and even let us in a few minutes early since he saw we were waiting outside the door for them to open at 11am. Check the website for times it is opening for tourists- since it depends on the day and works around Mass schedules.

Surprising interior, no clue given by the exterior view. Incredible domed interior - I have never seen anything like it! Beautiful altar space and side chapels. Informative self-guided tour pamphlet.

A beautiful church with such a friendly congregation. The mass was wonderful and we felt welcome from start to finish.

This is a stunning over 100 year old church located in downtown Asheville. Was in town for a concert and was instantly amazed by this structure. A thing of great beauty. was closed when I was there so we walked around the exterior and marveled at its detailed construction. For those who like historic buildings and places of worship, I recommend stopping by while in the city. Great for photos!

Went to Saturday Vigil Mass. Beautiful church. Stained glass, architecture, and art work were wonderful to look at. The pipe organ and organist during Mass was remarkable. The priest and other parishioners made you feel welcome. After Mass, local parishioners gave a narrated tour of the basilica, which was very good. They were informative and interactive with the guest. A nice group of Catholics and interested non-Catholics had a great time. Highly recommended.

We visited the Basilica on our 8th grade class trip to Asheville. We had an extremely knowledgeable tour guide. So many unique features.

Amazing basilica! Truly beautiful. It is well worth visiting. The building, artwork etc was all unique and lovely.

We visited the Basilica of St. Lawrence during our trip to Asheville in March 2023. The architecture is simply breathtaking. We found the Basilica to be a quiet place to pray and reflect on a beautiful March day. Most recommended if you are looking to find some peace during these hectic days. Give it a try!

Where is the best place to park when visiting the Basilica?

You can also park in the Rankin Street Parking Garage (1st hour free; $1/hour thereafter), which at the corner of Walnut and Rankin. You would walk up hill on Walnut, turn right at the intersection, and the Basilica is about 2 blocks away. There is on-street parking (feed the meter @ 25 cents for 12 minutes), but it is sparse. And as I am 'challenged' with parallel parking, I usually opt for the parking garages.
