This is a beautiful venue. One of the oldest theaters in NYC, now renovated. Great for small scale intimate shows. Saw " Merrily We Roll Along Here". Easy access from the train (subway). Tip: the orchestra rows are sloped so the seats near row Q have better sight lines than the seats in front.

Ibsen’s portrait of the drudgery and emptiness of the role of “wife“ (which he maintained was not meant as feminist critique) is about the fact that most relationships are houses of cards - with people trying to slot themselves into roles prescribed by society, usually hampered by narrowly-defined gender roles, guided by superficial values, and hemmed-in by herd mentality. All remains sadly prevalent to this day. The problem with this production is its lack of theatricality. People go to the theater to be transported - sets, staging, and costumes are a big part of that. The lack of those trappings burden the audience’s effort at suspension of disbelief, and gives an on-the-cheap feel to productions. If the off-the-rack black clothing and matchstick chairs/warehouse atmosphere is meant to signify a modern era, then the stilted accents belie that. Chastain is talented, but she doesn’t shine here, and there is no chemistry with the male lead. Cramped seating doesn’t help.

Came partially to see Jessica Chastain and Arian Moayed in A Dolls House, using a deal I received since I regularly attend Broadway shows. The foyer is gorgeous, however the mezzanine seats my tickets were for made us feel like we could topple down on those in front of us, given the steep angle and scant legroom. The person in front of me tried to sit straight up but kept hitting my knees (I am 5’3”, with very short legs). Many theaters used Covid time to revamp them selves, I guess The Hudson did not.

Went to go see Dollhouse. Managed to get lucky with TodayTix and the seats we were given were in the circle section righthand side. For this production, we didn't feel like we missed out on much, though it does cut off a chunk of stage left. No high hideous sidebar in the way like London theatres. Seats were comfortable, leg room was fine. Staff was quite entertaining pre-show with encouraging people to use toilets and turn off phones. There was no break in this show, so can't comment on much else. Thought the staff was perhaps a little too strict with the 'no things on the balcony' - I get that cups and phones etc. can be dangerous, but we almost got our head bitten off by resting our ticket on it. The play was good, though nothing groundbreaking.

I had one of my most amazing theater experiences here seeing Death of a Salesman last week. The show, perfection. The seats and view and acoustics, amazingly amazing. The only issue I had was with a few members of the audience.
I don't live in NYC so I don't know how common this is, but at least 4 groups came in between 5-15 minutes late to the show. Also, the person next to me continually took out her phone with the light shining. The same group beside me purchased popcorn at intermission and consumed it loudly during the final scenes.
This all might do at a raucous musical, however this play included vital sections of silence and sound and audio nuances and I was so disappointed in people for a, not respecting that and b, taking me at times out of the show in which I otherwise would have been completely immersed.
I write this only because I think the theater could do something to remedy some of these behaviors. The personnel stressed turning off phones before the show but those arriving late missed it. Maybe latecomers should get an etiquette speech before entering. Maybe re-think selling popcorn or any food at intermission for certain productions.

Excellent smallish treatre on West 44th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. We saw “Death of a Salesman” in December 2022….a wonderful recasting of an Arthur Miller classic. Seats are OK in width and leg room, optional masking policy (we wore ours) and most helpful staff. Easy to find as the theatre is one of the more “western” sites of the Broadway area and plays. Highly recommend you get there 30 minutes ahead of time…..makes it much more low stress. Give it a try; terrific theatre.

I have seen this show on Broadway with Brian Dennehy and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I would say this version is just as good as these previous shows which were all acclaimed. The supporting cast is wonderful. Biff and Happy are superb.

Beautiful theater and Death of a Salesman was absolutely amazing! The seats were pretty comfy (especially after having been in MSG the previous night). Our seats in dress circle allowed for a good view of the stage.
My only complaint is that there weren't enough bartenders or bathroom stalls to keep the lines short. It was almost impossible to both go to the restroom AND get a drink/snack during the intermission.

Knowing Covid was a possibility, I bought the ticket insurance. DON’T!! The company Hudson uses designs everything to make you simply give up and go away. By the time you pay for the pcr Covid test and the doctors visit needed for the form, you might as well eat the cost of the tickets. It doesn’t help. Then, their website is so finicky with file uploads….I spent an hour just messing with it only to be rejected for not having a doctor’s stamp, despite CVS confirmed pcr test, doctors signature and copies of my EMR communication with the doctor.
Do better Hudson.

The Theater is an old historical building close to Time Square beautifully furnished. The staff is friendly and it is clean. We watched Plaza Suite with Sarah J. Parker and Matthew Broderick they were hilarious the play was very entertaining. You can easily find a good spot to the stage in the whole seating area - great acoustic too. Experience of a lifetime.

Is there a promo code to purchase tickets online? Is the $23 service fee charged at the box office as well as online?

My friend and I would like to plan a trip to NYC and see Burn This. We think the first couple of weeks in June. Looking for the best price for tickets and a great place to stay for 2 nights.
