Just came here today in August and the garden was beautiful and lush. It was rainy so there were very few people here. The garden is relatively small, but definitely worth a visit!

it's located inside the central park, it's not a big garden, not much to see, buy just walk through it to take a look if you are in the central park

The garden is truly a must see in the spring. I visited Mid April, and the tulips in the garden where in full bloom. The flowering trees where definitely past peak, but still had a lot of flowers on them. The views in the garden where truly magnificent, everywhere you looked it was just so colorful. The steps in the garden are a bit uneven, so watch that for children, pets, and anyone with mobility issues. I definitely recommend a trip to the garden in the spring!

Nice small garden up near the middle section of central park. Lots of green space with statues and flowers. Worth a visit if your walking through central park.

The Shakespeare garden is more to the west of Central Park. Nice little garden that is probably a lot more interesting in summer.

It’s peaceful and looks great and sits beside the theatre in Central Park. Pleasing to see but you could walk past it and not notice.

Shakespeare Garden is a colorful, flower-lush 4-acre spot in Central Park, on the western side of the park loop at 79 - 80 Sts. 20 blocks north of Columbus Circle. It's a lovely span of enclosed garden beds, walking paths, benches, lovingly stone stairways, and some isolation from the hubbub. Partly on a slope, the garden is adjacent to steps that in one direction lead to the unique pseudo-medieval Belvedere Castle (opened after long 2019 repair and renovation) and a fine view uptown, over Turtle Pond. In a slightly different route is Delacorte Theater, famous for its outdoor stage and amphitheater that has hosted many plays by, you may have guessed, William Shakespeare. (Delacorte, by the way, is a venture of the Public Theater in the East Village.) Take a brief walk from Shakespeare Garden to the front of the Delacorte to find two evocative statues dedicated to the works of the Bard: the namesakes of Romeo and Juliet, and Prospero and Miranda of The Tempest.
Hence, this section of Central Park is dedicated to performances of the Bard, and to a recreation of an Elizabethan Age garden that the Great Man might have strolled when cogitating his masterworks. Many of the plants and flowers in the Garden are of the species that he alluded to or named in his plays--mulberry, columbine, primrose, wormwood and more. Aside from the feasts for gardeners' eyes, just mellow out on and amble through a vivid and aromatic (in spring and summer) and romantic tract of Manhattan.

Situated near the centre of Central Park the Shakespeare Garden is lovely for a walk around and a sit down to get away from the madness of NYC.

We spent quite a while exploring Central Park on our last visit to the city, and the highlight for me was this exquisite garden. Winding pathways and around every turn were lush, beautiful gardens. You definitely forget you are in the heart of New York City here!

Small garden with an assortment of plants and flowers. Not wheelchair or stroller friendly due to stairs, unless you stay on the outer path until about halfway up. This and the area around it are a little more quiet parts of Central park, so better for picnics or to get a break from the busy city.

Shakespear gardens are located off 79th street on the natural history side of Central Park and it is signposted, so it's easy to find. It's a joy to walk into this plantation of seasonal plants and to enjoy the year round colours and it's free to enter for everyone. Top info: only plants and flowers mentioned in Shakespeare's plays are growing here. Enjoy.
