There was some nice art here, although not enough and not great enough alone to make this place special. Helping up the impressiveness quotient is an excellent Mexican Revolution display. Also, if you like dolls, you will see plenty costumed in garb from around the world. The historic home that houses the gallery is magnificent, but most of it is closed to the public.

This a beautiful museum with gift shop, everything here is lovely. If you have company this is a wonderful place to take them for a visit. I recommend supporting this museum as they are a wonderful cultural spot for this city.

Certainly a very interesting visit it’s free runs on donations basis the gentleman that I spoke with gave me the history of the museum which was very pleasant surprise to some of the information that he advised of.
The Mexican war over 6 million Mexicans lost there lives in that and the former owner of the house used to be a wealthy sugar plantation owner back in south Carolina and moved down to El Paso.

When you step into this building, you step into a piece of El Paso history. There are some historic architecture, from the grand room to the staircase with large stain glass window. Even two huge magnolia trees in front of the building add to the age and charm. In addition you will be in the neighborhood full of interesting buildings and places ( including house of Guy Rex , who dominated the country beauty pageant scene in 1980s). If history and ambiance is not enough, you can enjoy all kinds of art: African, European, local, Mexican; sculptures, porcelain, paintings, folk art. In addition they show movies, there is a gift shop, temporary exhibitions( some of them are really good), and even old fashioned photo room. The building is old, but if you can enjoy antique shops, you'll totally enjoy this special 1910 mansion with all its charm.

The International Museum of Art was previously the original El Paso Art Museum. It is a beautiful building with fantastic art inside. It holds many varied art show, movies and displays throughout the year. Be sure and go on their web site for upcoming events. The cost is free and is open five days a week, closed on Monday and Tuesday. We saw the student art show for EPISD and the students have done some remarkable things again this year.

This is such a beautiful museum. The staff is very nice and friendly and very knowledgable on the pieces in the museum. I really love how they always have an event going on for the community to enjoy. This museum is a most see!!!

if you go on Sunday the parking was easier to get in and out from. the exhibit were unique and the gift shop is pretty big with collectables.
