We enjoyed a very relaxing tour of the property and really enjoyed speaking to the various skilled Artisans. Lunch at "Kinds Arm Tavern" aka "Chowning's Tavern" was wonderful! I wish it was located in North Carolina because we'd definitely go back there again.

Lots of historical events occurred on these pastoral fields and forested lands. Amazing to drive and walk among the sites where our fore fathers fought for their lives to establish this new country’s experimental government called democracy.

This park, maintained by the National Park Service, includes a general overview of the siege of Yorktown. It includes a brief museum, introductory film, and a small gift shop. It's a short drive and/or walk to the historic part of Yorktown, where some buildings, like Grace Episcopal Church, are still in operation and others have been repurposed but are marked with signs explaining their prior uses and historical significance. A trolley, included with admission, runs every 15 minutes or so, through the historic district, the beach, American Revolution Museum, and park's visitors' center. Riders can get on and off as often as they'd like throughout the day.

Our group of 5-69 ear olds enjoyed the outdoor and indoor displays. Great immersive movie won't put you to sleep. Great gift shop too.

Enjoyed all three sections of the park, Jamestown settlement, Yorktown battlefield, and the Colonial Parkway over 3 days.
Jamestown: You can see the small visitor center, a few of the historic ruins areas, and follow the island tour road loop with an nps ticket. If you really want to see the full site, you should get tickets to historic jamestowne area, as a large portion of the fort area, church, and archeology museum are separate from the national park area.
Yorktown battlefield: You can see the full site with nps tickets alone. Their are some great views, and neat cannon exhibit stops along the red driving loop. Don't miss the victory monument and related sites in the city of Yorktown outside the main park area.
Colonial parkway: If you have extra time or really enjoy leisurely scenic drives, you should follow the route between the two main park sites. Their are several historic sign pull offs. A few that are closer to the river offer more scenic views worth a few minutes to stop at.

We started in the Visitor Center to gathered up and sort out all the historic information available in this area. The American Revolution had significant impact and with so many battles and heroic leaders it is good to get the battles and dates in order. Inside was a 'sample' boat, as this war was not only on land, and also G. Washington's tent, get an idea of living on a battle field for a general vs. a soldier. A car is needed to drive the many trails, and the Colonial Parkway, but from this visitor center you can walk one trail to the battlefield where Redoubts 9 & 10 (fortified mounds) are located.

We saw the three main sites of National Historical Park across two days. A single National Park Service ticket gives you access to Yorktown, and covers part of the fee for the Historic Jamestowne site (there is a second fee for Jamestowne). While there is no fee to walk around downtown and Colonial Williamsburg, there is a separate ticket to provide access to its museums and other special attractions. Additionally, the sites are connected by the Colonial Parkway (part of the Historic Park), which itself has no admission fee.
Of the three sites, we easily liked the Jamestowne site the most, followed by Yorktown, and then Colonial Williamsburg as a distant third. It helps to know, both when planning your visit and also experiencing the sites, that the three locations each represent a distinct period in early American history, over 150 years apart.

Certainly worth a trip here. Lots of history and a trolley will take you around to various places (museums, sites, etc.) where you can hop off and explore. You can also tour around the battlefields in your car as well. The National Park service always does a great job.

While the drive you can take around the park is interesting (and you'll follow a map in your car to stop at sites), I was disappointed in the museum itself. Exhibits were closed, and it just seemed as if it wasn't even worth stopping at the museum.

Very nice place. Very clean area and friendly people. Lots of history. If you have never came it is great. A little on the pricey side or would have given it 5 stars

Hi, We are a mature couple, visiting in March, for 2 full days, plus arrival & departure days. Our hotel is in Williamsburg, and we will spend our arrival day and one full day there. We will skip the Jamestown Settlement & Yorktown Victory Center, and visit the NP sites. Can we do Historic Jamestown & Yorktown Battlefield, plus the town of Yorktown in one day? Can you suggest a plan that makes the most sense?
Yes, that is definitely doable. My suggestion though would be to get an early start. Sounds like a good travel plan....have fun!!!
