Husband was playing in a tournament at Philadelphia Cricket Club and I walked to the park (about 1 mile) and then walked several miles on the wide trail along the creek. Plenty of shade, quite a few folks, walkers, bikes, and even horses, although the trail is wide enough I was never crowded. Great find!

A great place to trek from the Falls till the end & there are several side paths to be explored also.

This place is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and it was quite popular. Lots of trails and water views. Great place to unwind.

You are in the heart of Philadelphia - a major American city. But once you descend into this trail network, you will feel totally outside the city. A paved trail is perfect for walkers and cyclists. But there are other off-shoot trails that are more rugged for hiking, biking and really working up a sweat.

I live out of state and this is my third time visiting the park. Is a beautiful park in the city with so many trails to choose from. Definitely should give it a visit if you are in Philly.

It’s a beautiful area marred by careless visitors. Lots of trash and graffiti on the trails. It seems folks visit to swim, despite rules prohibiting it. On one of the paths, a number of diapers were dumped in the center. Unfortunately this place will need a lot more policing to return it to its potential.

This is a true hidden gem; park is heavily wooded with miles of trails. One of the trails lead to a Hermits cave high up in the hills. Very calm and peaceful atmosphere in the middle of the city.

Love how tripadvisor is marketing this as a destination. If people knew the truth they might do something about it. However due to advertising as different people are getting fines like crazy because of all the law breaking. It is a community park just for hiking. Hope everyone knows how polluted the water is they are swimming in. Its so polluted fishermen are only supposed to eat 1-2 fish per year that they catch. Sewage and street water flood this river. I hope the police keep fining everyone wish they could do something more by locking people up for almost starting fires due to grills and trash. In addition, hope the city does something about tripadvisor calling this a destination spot. Best part is how the police have forced people to leave and they waste gas and money for believing advertisements.

Hi Been in the Northern end during any daylight hour . Never an issue . Won't go at night as there would be no light at all. Great hiking trails especially since it is in a city. Not a groomed developed park . Hiking is very natural.

Do you need a car to see most of the park or can you Uber to one of the parking lots? I was thinking of starting at one parking lot then switch to another. Want to see the covered bridge, Devils Pool and Fingerspan Bridge for sure.

You could be dropped off and start at the Falls on Ridge Avenue between Wissahickon Park and East Falls and walk up to Valley Green Inn.
You can then explore the locations you had mentioned and there is another parking lot you could arrange for pick up at Bells Mill Road.

Which entrance would you recommend for a trail with some of the prettiest scenery?

Start at the Valley Green Inn restaurant and cross the bridge over the creek. After the bridge take the stairs to the left to the trail and continue on that trail to the left (if you go to the parking lot you’ve missed the entrance to the trail)

Hi we are staying in Philadelphia for 4 nights 1st week in October(hotel is Penn's View Hotel, about 10 mins walk from Liberty Bell)We are quite keen walkers. Is there easy access from where we are out to Wissahickon Park , eg so we can explore walking trails for half a day or so? Thanks! Mike and Brid from UK

You can ask the concierge at your hotel for information on SEPTA buses which take you to the Wissahickon Transpirtation Center. Across the street there is a trail into the park. Or take an Uner. There is a walking trail along the River but it is about 10 miles to the Wissahickon Psrk from there,
