My husband and I visited this site while visiting Gettysburg Battlefield. This was the only house owned by the Eisenhower’s and they lived here after he retired. It is a fairly quick place to tour. You drive back to the house which is right by the battlefield and take a short walk up the drive to the house. You take a guided tour of the house and on the day we went there was no waiting. You can also see his garage with golf carts and a couple of cars, his putting green and a barn as they had horses. It is not a palatial mansion but a comfortable colonial home in a beautiful setting. It doesn’t take long to see and is interesting!

We did a free tour and it was very interesting, worth taking the time to do. We didn’t wait the grounds because of the weather but the house was very nice.

Definitely worth stopping by however tours of the house take place (normally) Thursday through Sunday only. We were there on a Wednesday but found the NPS app had very detailed information as you walk around the estate and ranch.

The Eisenhower tour was wonderful. We could not get over how everything was so well preserved. The tour guide was great with a wonderful short history of General Eisenhower's life. We highly recommend the tour.

We loved the tour and the traipsing thru someone else's house. So 1950s. We saw a few things that they had that our grandparents had. Good memories. Enjoyed just sitting on benches near the heli pad and feeling the breeze. The garden was growing great. Wish mine were that prolific. The rangers had a very through explanation of the times Ike lived in and what he faced. They were good.

This was a nice short stop after being in Gettysburg for a few days. It was interesting to see how the Eisenhowers lived during and after their time in the White House and very cool to see how life was like in the 50s and 60s.

Website said you could take a self-guided tour, but it was closed the day we were there. Very disappointing. We are from Kansas and would have loved to have seen the home.

Finally got to visit. It was lovely and so much to see. Family mementos and items from all over the world. And you won't find a more beautiful setting. Worth the visit. Highly recommended!

Excellent tour. Rangers provided background information and were available for questions. Self guided tour inside with booklet. Booklet had enough information to make it interesting. Highly recommend it for a 1-2 hour experience.

Most everyone goes to Gettysburg for the unsurpassed civil war history that is all around. However, if you want a change of pace, is it this 195-‘s era farm of a past President. The Eisenhower family has left all of their furniture, belongings and even the President’s original paintings in the house. The park rangers are wonderful as they guide you through the first part of the house and leave you on your own for the second story,

How much time does it take to drive around the Eisenhower site if we don't stop other than to take pictures?
Skrevet 18. januar 2024
The Eisenhower farm/home doesn't take very long to tour. You have to park in the parking lot and walk to the home, then take the short, (but very interesting) tour. The Eisenhower's lived in a really simple, but lovely home, and if you're in the Gettysburg area you really should check it out!

How much time should one spend to see everything?
Skrevet 9. februar 2019
It depends on your level of interest and if you have children with you. My daughter and I enjoyed the night walking tour and we also enjoyed the ones during the daytime and learned a lot. There are several different tours. The Eisenhower Farm was really interesting, even for our 12-year-old. I also got a great photo during our own driving tour of the battlefields of a monument with a re-enactor walking by, a cloud shaped like a flying eagle in the sky and an "orb" near the soldier. Reading books about the battle, such as Killer Angels, also help as you can visit specific areas. We usually spend 3 days there... and have returned for many years now... always something new to see and learn!

Can you drive to it or do you have to take bus from visitor center?
Are they open Sunday?
How much are the tickets?
Skrevet 1. desember 2018
You have to go to the Gettysburg Battlefield Visitor Center to get admission tickets for Eisenhower and you take a shuttle bus from outside the Gettysburg Visitor Center to get to Eisenhower. There isn't any parking available at the Eisenhower site except for employees. I would recommend purchasing tickets online (go to NPS.GOV and navigate to the Eisenhower page) before you go. Admission prices and schedules can also be found on this same website. Because of the popularity of Gettysburg, Eisenhower also attracts a fair number of guests.

where do I pick up tickets & how much are they & transportation
Skrevet 24. august 2016
I think they were about $ 7.50 p/p. Can be purchased at the battleground visitor center. There is a shuttle bus from there (no private cars allowed at the farm).

Yes, year around. Great place to visit. Amazing to see he conducted presidential business when he was there :-)

The farm is open year-round, however the hours vary based on the season. The best choice is to check out the official NPS website for Eisenhower NHS; or to call the Site itself or the Gettysburg NMP Visitor Center.
However, the schedule is currently as follows(from mid-August)... tours are every hour on weekdays and every 1/2 hour on weekends between 9 and 4. Access is ONLY from Gettysburg National Military Park via shuttle. This schedule will continue until around Columbus day when tours will be scaled back to 4 on weekdays at 10, 11:30, 1, and 3:30; and hourly tours on weekends between 9 and 4.
Keep in mind that the bus leaves the site to go back to the visitor center at 5:15 most of the year. The 4 p.m. tour is a shortened tour. With the 4 bus per day schedule, the final bus leaves at 5 to return to the Visitor Center.
Someone commented that you can drive to the site. This is not the case other than on two occasions. One is in January and some of February (until around President's Day) when visitation is so low that they only offer 2 tours daily. One at 10 and one at 2. However, you still have to get tickets at the Gettysburg NMP Visitor Center and the site can be closed due to weather. It closes when the military park closes due to inclement weather.
The other time you can drive to the site and park is on WWII Weekend. This year, that event will be September 17 and 18, 2016. This is a special living history encampment with various events including guest speakers. Well worth visiting this particular weekend!
