Told them the stories of the typos even took them on front porch told them about a 200 yr old tree. Explained bulletts in door and table. I mean for a free museum heck even for a paid museum mike was one of the best had my kids excited to learn. THANK YOU MIKE

My husband and me and our six kids went in to look through what we thought was a regular museum. Mike the gentleman that works there introduce us to what we would see in the house and then proceeded to talk to the children and tell them about they can open any draw and touch anything in the house they wanted as long it doesn’t say fire on it lol.... he walked our kids through and told them about the fun scavenger hunt they could do while they were there to win a prize. He was amazing telling us all about the different things that happened in the home. And more stories about the battle. Thank you for the great experience

We didn't actually do the house but they had an outside re-enactment which was really interesting. A couple of delightful ladies dressed in period costume, very knowledgeable, making lace.
Glad we stopped by!

How lucky that we were able to squeeze in an hour and a half at the Rupp House on the Sunday we arrived in Gettysburg! The docents were very knowledgeable and gave us a great deal of background from the perspective of the Gettysburg citizens who lived through a battle that was also fought right inside of their homes. The displays inside the Rupp House are fascinating and provided us with an often-overlooked side of the Gettysburg story. Well-worth planning a visit around the limited hours of operation!

Stopped in here on a whim with our 12 and 15 year old boys. Loved the fact that they got into the scavenger hunt so much after a long day of sight seeing.
Staff was interactive and friendly.
Enjoyed this free attraction more than some pay to visit things on our vacay.
Definitely worth a stop!

We were going for a fireside chat on Saturday night @ 6;30, we stayed for another presentation of two Union reenactors =One James Buford, i cannot remember the name of the other one. But they were both in character telling their stories. Great history lesson and interaction with the people who were there..

The Rupp House History Center offers visitors a glimpse of what civilian life was like during the Civil War, particularly the John Rupp family that lived in this house at 451 Baltimore Street and the soldiers who fought in and around Gettysburg through interactive displays and hands-on exhibits. When fighting began on July 1, 1863, the Rupps went across the street to Soloman Welty's house and hid in the cellar. They returned to their house that same night, then hid in their own cellar when fighting resumed on July 2. That night, John Rupp's wife and their six children went to the house of John's father, eight blocks away. But John stayed behind and hid in his cellar until fighting ceased by the morning of July 4. Today, the Rupp House also serves as a gathering place for the Friends of Gettysburg after the organization purchased the property in 2002.

We stopped in this museum multiple times on our weekend in Gettysburg. Its an interactive museum ( kids are encouraged to touch things) with a lot of information and nice displays. The staff are very friendly and even let us stay after closing to finish up the scavenger hunt, which is fun. So glad we wandered in here our first night. There were re-enactors speaking there on Saturday night. They were very knowledgeable. It could only have been better if the rain hadn't spoiled the campfire that was planned. My 10 year old loved this museum. It's a little gem in Gettysburg.

Several reviews state this museum is free however if you go to the website it says tickets are $15 per person. Can someone clarify the pricing?

On the weekends admission is free to the public. It is usually open primarily on the weekends. If you are a Friend of the Gettysburg Foundation, you get 10% off merchandise in the gift shop. However if you want you can donate to the people operating the Historic house.
