This is a small museum but it was worth a visit. There is a lot of exhibits focused on Savannah's history and has many relics from the past. There's different military uniforms and artifacts from the revolutionary and civil war which I found interesting. For something a bit more modern, they have the bench from the Forrest Gump movie! I also liked they had a good size replica of the Bird Girl statue. It's not the real one, but it looks good in pictures! The museum cost $10 and we spent about 45 minutes there.

I really liked this museum. Lots of exhibits with clear informative boards about the different aspects of Savannah’s history over the years. Understandably there is a bit of a focus on the various wars that were fought in and around Savannah.
There are a couple of special exhibits, about the jazz age in Savannah and on the life of Juliette Low, founder of the Girl Scout movement in America, and a Savannah local.
Several times a day, on two days a week, there is a guided talk about the Siege of Savannah in 1779, which was led by a staff member dressed in the uniform of a Savannah militia man. The Loyalists and Liberty Battlefield Tour took about 35 minutes, included in the price of the museum entry ticket. It was really well done. Our guide talked about the significance of Savannah, how the war with Britain started and what happened in the autumn of 1779. Our group was led across the road to the Battlefield Memorial Park, where archaeological digs discovered the remains of one of the British forts that laid siege to Savannah. We, with flags and (wooden replica) muskets, re-enacted the attack by the militia on the British fort. Our guide led us with his drum sounding the march. Once we had reached the fort, we learnt how long it took a musket to be loaded and fired, and we also took aim as we stood behind the fort walls. Really interesting and great fun. (I’m just sorry I didn’t catch the guide’s name. Sat 18th May, 10.30am session. He was great!). Thoroughly recommend it.

Everyone stops here to see the bench from Forrest Gump, but there's more to offer. It takes you on a trip through time of what happened in Savannah. From culture to history, there is a little bit of everything here. It's a bit of walk, but if you drive there's a lot to park. It doesn't take too long and it is self-guided. It's not very large, but it's great to peruse on a hot day. It's good for adults and kids alike.

This is an old-style museum with historical artifacts, photos, paintings, maps accompanied by descriptive information. Only staff was person in the small gift shop. He was not that well informed.

Nice rather small museum. Has a very good film as an introduction. And of course the Forrest Gump bench. Actors do a demonstration of revolutionary war charge. Interesting displays. Also a room about Jazz and another room about girl scouts.

Small - good for an hour. Lots of text, little in the way of exhibits. Not much you can't get elsewhere in Savannah. It's fine if you need an hour in the AC waiting to do something else.

Was so much bigger inside than I expected. Had great displays throughout and even a train! Learned a lot about the history of Georgia They also had a cute gift shop, the one when you first walk in is the best out of the three. Price admission was not bad either.

Our first time to Savannah, we had to see the actual Forrest Gump bench. There were 4 of them made for the movie, and one them is here at the museum. You can’t sit on it (understandable given its popularity) but you can get close. Be ready to pay $10 to see it. While there are other history exhibits, they are not very exciting - actually would be good for local high school students to learn some local history. But we are not in that category, so we walked directly to the bench and then to the exit. So much to see and experience in beautiful Savannah, and we had only 3 days. Bottom line, if you are a fan of the movie, stop here. Otherwise, don’t.

This museum gives a good summary of the region with interesting exhibits. There was also a staff member who was on site answering questions which was great. The size of the museum is very manageable too. Enjoyed aur visit a lot!

At door. I believe you could get combo tickets as well, for a few exhibits. These also available at the door.
