Where do I start? The Inn is absolutely beautiful. Built in the 1800’s and true to that period. The people who worked there from the manager to the cooks were wonderful. A special shout out to Nate, the 3-11 manager. He was terrific! The breakfasts were delicious and they were very accommodating to any modifications to the menu that was requested. There were some negatives however. As a haunted location, the tour guides and tourists who came around nightly were a little loud and we would get woken up by them as they were right outside our room. The room itself was a basement room called the “Isaiah Davenport” room and, although it was obviously remodeled and updated, it was very small. There was no closet, only a hanging rack in the bathroom and the room was really small. We had to place our luggage on the bed in order to open it fully. The bed was a bit lumpy which hurt my wife’s back when she slept in it. Again, the place and people are amazing, just make sure you ask lots of questions about your room when booking.

We stayed in the Arlington Suite. It was awesome. First off I loved the courtyard and hot tub. It was very welcoming. But then our room was a very nice size, it had seating to watch television a desk which we needed for working a mini kitchen and a nice fireplace which it was too warm to take advantage of but still added to the charm. The shower was excellent and the bed was comfortable. The only one negative was we could not get regular television. There was a guide in the room with an explanation of how to get T.V. but the fix did not work and the telephone number provided for questions is not up to date. I managed to watch something on net flix but otherwise a perfect stay and I highly recommend it. Right in the historic district, you can walk to many attractions.

This exquisite Inn made our trip to Savannah very special. It’s location looking out over Lafayette Square, the interiors, the breakfasts, and attentive staff make us ready to recommend the Hamilton Turner to anyone who visits Savannah.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hamilton-Turner Inn. The building is beautiful and well kept. The room was gorgeous and the bed was soft and cozy which made for restful sleeping. The breakfasts were very tasty. We enjoyed meeting other customers and sharing stories. The macaroons are delicious too!

It was our first trip to Savannah and we picked the Hamilton-Turner Inn. Right next to Lafayette Square and next to Cathedral of St John the Baptist. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delightful and it started our day in a good way.
They helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations.
Definitely a good quiet area to spend time.

We loved our stay at Hamilton Turner house, the property was absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated and furnished and gave a real sense of stepping back in history.
The hospitality was second to none, very accommodating! The location is great for exploring on foot and the surrounding area felt safe. . We enjoyed the wine in the parlor and meeting some lovely fellow guests. The breakfast was perfectly presented and very tasty . Service throughout our stay was fabulous. Was a lovely change from staying in large chain hotels .

Despite the magnificent location and idyllic preservation of this wonderful antebellum home on Lafayette square, we didn’t get a wink of sleep due to the worst bed in the entire hospitality industry. Having spent a delightful weekend here 6 months ago, we were hoping for a similar outcome but instead got up with back ache, shoulder and neck pains due to a mattress that was entirely devoid of support. On mentioning this to the manager as we checked out a day early, he admitted that he had the same mattress at home and that “it took ages and ages to get used to!!!” Instead of any offer to compensate us for our miserable night (and the fact that we had to pre-pay more than $400/night), he merely bid us farewell as we had to seek out a different option for the remainder of our Savannah stay. Not the definition of “hospitality” at all.

The magnificent Hamilton-Turner House, also known as the "Grand Victorian Lady," was built in 1873 by J.D. Hall for Samuel Pugh Hamilton, a jeweler and later mayor of Savannah. It generally is recognized as the most beautiful building in the city. Located at 330 Abercom Street on Lafayette Square, it was influenced by the Second Empire style with a standard central hall on a large scale with Italianate characteristics. It is notable for its mansard roof, tall windows with heavy hood molds and elegant cast iron balconies. The mansion and carriage house were built of stucco covered Savannah grey brick. The Hamiltons spared no expense in the construction of their new home, equipping it with talking pipes for conversation throughout the four floors, a dumb waiter, skylights and a tin roof, an indoor bath and privy and electricity in the parlor. According to local legend, Savannah citizens gathered in Lafayette Square to watch the lights go on in the evening. The home was later owned by Dr. Francis Turner, an osteopath who was an owner of Savannah's first electric cars. In 1991, Nancy Hillis, better known as "Mandy" in John Berendt's novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, purchased the home. Described as "the new gem on Lafayette Square" by Southern Living magazine, the Hamilton-Turner House has earned a reputation as one of the best historic inns and bed-and-breakfasts in Savannah. It is a popular destination for weddings, honeymoons and romantic getaways.
