2023 and 2 hour 30 minute wait time for rentals only to find out they’re out of crucial gear. We arrived at 9:30 am (when they open), queued in rental shop at 9:40 am. Helped at 11:50 am.
Review summary: the guy managing the place is a complete imbecile, waiting for 2 hours for rentals is a quick wait time, showing up before they open still leaves you waiting for +2 hours, they won’t compensate customers for business extremely long wait times, they’re likely closing down rentals, hilarious mismanagement from the guy managing the place who is the rudest person I have interacted with in a very long time.
When you ask how long the wait time is to the person that’s taking names for rentals no time is given. Over a 2 hour wait time for gear is asinine, pull people to this part of the mountain and help out. Or the manager/business owner can. Getting fitted doesn’t, however, take 2 hours of time and if it does help should be available. “Oh the jobs are hard to fill.” No they aren’t hard to fill if workers are paid reasonably and there are job postings on the website about what’s needed. The only thing listed as of today was a fry cook and they absolutely could use another rental person or two. Update the website.
A lady asked to speak to the manager because she waited for +2 hours to get fitted for the day. She asked for a discount to the half day pass for the wait time. She was asking for the half day pass an hour early since the gear fitting took too long. Management’s response? “We don’t discount prices for rude clients or anyone and if you don’t like the prices you can get the f*** out.” (Mind you, she wasn’t being rude whatsoever, her tone was steady, she asked a very reasonable thing for an unreasonable wait as an easy bit of compensation. She was asking for $10 off.) To whoever the manager is there if you can’t handle any customer service as a manager/boss you shouldn’t be a manager/boss. Put yourself in their shoes for a minute and tell me how you would feel about wasting over 2 hours for gear? Any other mountain it only takes 30 minutes max. They showed up before 10 am and didn’t get any gear till 12 noon. You’d be pretty frustrated too. After that he proceeded to nearly yelled at the lady saying “we don’t deal with s*** customers like you” (mind you all she did was ask for a discount to the half day price for having waited for +2 hours and it was nearly the half day time) “you and your family can get the f*** out of this establishment.” Great response about a customer’s frustration and $10. He then proceeds to tell the two clearly overworked rental employees they’re “not taking anymore rentals for the day.” He then storms out of the room slamming a door open nearly breaking it on his way out like a pouty child. He radios to every station in the business that “rentals are f***ing done.” and continues to storm out. The two employees just stopped and looked at each other wondering what they’re going to do for work if he closes those positions. The one literally asks “am I even going to have a job tomorrow?” Great job at keeping your workers happy.
I have never seen the likes of this from any person in any management position with any business ever. Absolutely astonishing reaction from the guy managing the place to reasonable questions from clients. Well done chap.
This doesn’t even go into our interaction with him either. We were just close by and witnessed this. We also waited for over 2 hours today and when we finally were getting outfitted they didn’t have helmets or googles available. How do you not have extra crucial gear? This literally pays for itself with 3 rentals of the equipment after that it is pure profit for the business. Regardless, if the rental shop ran out of something the very least they could have done was make an announcement in the waiting area that “we are out of X” so people could make up their mind about whether or not they’d like to stay. The website says “while supplies last” talking as someone who has spent time at multiple ski hills, supplies should last longer than a group checked in 10 minutes after open. The manager found a pair of goggles from the lost and found, thinking it would solve the problem, however it was a literal paintball mask and we had quite the sour taste in our mouth by that point. We did end up getting a refund and didn’t step foot on the mountain.
To the guy running this place into the ground: go back to kindergarten and learn some basic social skills.
To the workers spending their time there: I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with it. There are places where you will be more respected and cared about.
To the people reading this review: I’m sure the mountain is fine, I’m sure the skiing is adequate, if you go, bring your own gear and avoid management at all costs.

First off, great slopes and trails, the ski lift is old but it (usually) does the trick in getting us up fast. The management is absolutely horrific, banning or refusing service people without reasons and discriminating against employees. They lie, they extort, and they will ruin a season on the slopes if you cross them. Avoid interacting with the guy in charge, he is a petty criminal and he knows that the troopers wont come up for his small infringements. I have skied here for over 10 years and hate to see this happening

I wouldn’t leave any stars if it was possible!!!! The worst experience I have ever had!!! PUBLIC BEWARE WE JUST GOT ROBBED!!!!!!We traveled to see our son who serves this country all the way from Atlanta Ga. We filled out the paperwork and was being called back to be fitted for gear. One lady standing in line started complaining about our 16 year old son not wearing a mask. We all had mask on the entire time!!! She then said it was down around his chin. It wasn’t although he does have asthma!!! The manger took her word without speaking to any of us our party had 6 people in it he spoke to our minor son rude and inappropriately. He ridiculed us in front of a room full of people asking could we read his signs. The signs said you will get pass taken and without refund if you don’t comply with the mask rules. We again all had mask on instead of taking one persons word taking money from travelers to your attraction and state and throwing them out talking to us like dogs you should really learn some hospitality!!! We have photos in the same room we just got kicked out of for not wearing a mask with mask on! My son who had it on his chin supposedly in all 3 pictures were taken 5 minutes before being kicked out. It’s robbery and I’m not joking when I say I am disputing charges and calling my attorney ASAP!!! Also while waiting to be helped a staff member came over the walk-talkie telling the employees tell someone to get their f**cking ass back to rentals or they won’t see their bonus!! Real professional thing for customers to hear and really nice way to talk to your staff!!Don’t say follow rules either we all had mask on and have pictures of us in your facility 5 minutes before being kicked out and robbed of our money! If we were going to disregard the rules we would have taken the mask off to take photos. Don’t say what you have said in many of these reviews that you don’t want people like us at your establishment. WE HAD MASK ON!! You can’t speak to anyone like a adult as they all think it’s funny. I will be the one to go back home talk to my attorney and make my move it’s wrong! The lady that walked in complaining wasn’t even in there the entire time who knows she is possibly a plant sent in to cause chaos and complain just to kick people out and keep their money. I am wondering if we were singled out on purpose because our daughter in law who is African American was with us and we were the only group singled out. One guy walked in and talked with the woman renting the equipment out and pulled his mask down completely and she said oh I didn’t recognize you. So if you know a employee the mask mandate don’t count. I believe this against us for some reason and I will prove it! People do yourself a favor and don’t visit this establishment go to Moose Mountain or Birch where they know customer service!!!

my buddy’s and I hit the slopes pretty much every weekend here and let me tell you the runs are sickkk. Amazing staff and the woman inside who cooks knows how to whip up one damn good burger. shout out to skiland for keeping it real this season, love you guys!

Ski Land has a small quaint bar, lodge and opens during March for the Aurora Borealis from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am.
The Aurora is amazing from this location, pay the moderate per person fee to utilize the facility while waiting for the Aurora Borealis, because it can get to negative 35 degrees.
The lodge location is on top of a mountain range with unobstructed views of the northern horizon. The lodge is great, it allowed us to stay warm while waiting for the Aurora. We would go out to take photos, go inside to warm up and go back out to take more photos!
Highly recommend, friendly staff!

Our tour group had a the ski patrol cabin to spend the evening viewing Northern Lights. While we waited we were toasty warm inside playing card games

We went late at night to view the Aurora Borealis. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We were also served snacks as we waited to see the lights.

Happened upon this place by accident. When I saw it was a lodge, I thought it was like a hotel but its not...it's a cozy place with informative hosts, warmth, a bathroom and hot drinks. Sure beats sitting in your car at Cleary Summit and has a much better view! Might be pricey but worth it. And still cheape than a tour plus at your own timing. Open 9-3am. Free wi-fi.

This place is NOT what it is advertised to be. It is a hole in the wall snack-shack; about as comfortable as a greyhound bus station in the wrong side of town. There is absolutely no reason to waste your money and time driving out to this "lodge" to see the aurora. The locals will all agree; just ask them. For the amount of money they are charging, they should have recliners, snacks, games and windows to see out of. Rip-off. Don't say I didn't warn you....

The Northern Lights were expected to be out the night we got into Fairbanks. Since we didn't land until 4:30pm, we didn't want to do anything too pricey (in case the flight was late). Ski Land was great. It was nice and warm inside and the lights put on a great show. $30 per person was a bargain compared to some of the other tours. And if you made reservations online, you can cancel them 24+ hours out and get a full refund.

Hello, I am going to Alaska around mid December. I am looking for some great places to ski and i want to also see the northern lights. What places do you recommend to for me to ski and to see the northern lights in Anchorage or in Fairbanks?

Hello! We definitely recommend coming to Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights. While they are hard to predict, you have a better chance with the longer night hours and further North. There are bigger ski resorts near Anchorage but our hill provides a lot of fun terrain for skier of all skill level.
