The spot is free, and there are picnic tables, a dumpster and even some guidebooks to the site, which you are asked to put back in their container once you are done. You drive off the main road for about a mile, and then once you park, you will walk up a short path to where you see what look like the barest outlines of some ruined foundations (turns out, they are modern stucco used to cover up the older site). So you really don't see ANYTHING of the early dwellings. The book is nice and describes what life might have been like for the Fremont people at this site.
One could easily do this place in 20 minutes. But, to be honest, unless you're hard core into the anthropology of the Fremont or the First People...it's not really worth a stop. (Maybe if you have a picnic lunch in mind, you could use the tables and then make a quick, education visit). It's a very minor site indeed; I feel like a scrooge saying that, but that's how I saw it.

The Fremont culture habitation outline remains, but the remnant structures that had been excavated have also been covered up again. I found the site a great place to pray and meditate, isolated in a desert plain surrounded by mountains and deep history.

Site of ancient Indian village. Excavations were 20+ years ago. Is just basically desert land scape with some explanation now. No artifacts on site, ruins have been intentionally recovered with dirt. Ok for a 15 minute stop.

Yes, it is a remote wind swept site but if you are in the Great Basin Park area it is worth a stop to learn a bit about the Native Americans that lived here. Best part is the price....FREE. Read the sign near the picnic shelter, then pick up a trail guide that explains what was done to the site and what the peoples who lived here did. Yes, the actual ruins have been filled in, but the old foundations are outlined to give you a sense of what the place was like. Remember to return the guide for others to use.

We tried to set up a telescope at night to view the night sky but the car lights were distracting. We had a single light (like a bike light) that just seemed to come closer and closer as it followed the curve of the road into the parking lot. It was so creepy and so scary, we packed up everything and hightailed it out of there. I didn't see any bicycles on the road to the site at all.
The spot would have bee a good one for night skies but we had alot of clouds there.

A very remote spot, silent save for the wind. You drive up the small road to the parking area where there are interpretive signs, and potty facilities. Then you can walk a short trail with interpretive signs. It's interesting and the work carried out by archaeologists in the 1990's I believe it was is impressive and valuable---but you really have to visualize in your own mind what took place on this lonely plain so many hundreds of years ago--Fremont Indians farming, living and surviving in a remote and climatically harsh place. For the less imaginative this site might not be all that exciting. I was there just before dusk. A couple in a small RV found the lonely and private site with potty facility an excellent place to spend the night in solitude.

Read the signs. Looked like the walk was just more signs along a trail that didn't appear to have much more than sagebrush. Didn't bother to see if I was right. Just stick to the highway - at least there was a bathroom which is a rarity in remote NV

This is kind of a waste of time. You'd get just as much out of it by reading about it. Perhaps more. Skip it unless you are super bored. There's nothing to see here.

This was not worth the drive. The actual site has been covered and all that remains is markers with explanation of what it was.
