A visit to Nami Island was pretty much non-negotiable for us; my wife, sisters, and niece are all huge K-drama fans, so it was bound to happen. We visited in August, on a sweltering August afternoon (the humidity in Seoul is no joke!) as part of a tour. The hour drive from the city and subsequent short ferry ride over was a nice escape from the city.
Nami Island is named after General Nami; a figure who fought courageously but, tragically, died at 26. History aside, once on the island, we found it quite busy, for a weekday, but not unbearably so; I can imagine what weekends are like. The place has a whimsical charm, filled with manicured gardens, art installations, and winding trails under pine trees that give you a break from the heat. Despite a lot of the landscaping being man-made, it feels surprisingly natural.
Exploring Nami doesn’t take too long; we did so in two hours on foot and eventually renting electric scooters. Some of our party took up some boat activities. We passed by a few cafés and restaurants (mostly Korean cuisine), so you won’t go hungry or thirsty.
Is it a romantic haven? Maybe, if you catch it on a quieter day. For us, it was more about soaking in a bit of nature, taking family photos (with some members going wild with Instagram pics), and ticking that K-drama box. If you’re in Seoul and want an easy day trip out of town, Nami Island offers exactly that—just be prepared for the humidity if you visit in the thick of summer.

Luckily, it doesn’t come on a rainy day, because if the rain falls, the beautiful autumn foliage will fall, and luckyest day is the last day that you can see the beautiful autumn foliage falling. When boarding a boat to the island, look for a Thai flag to stand on a photo. Take the map and walk as far as possible in the limited time, and don’t forget to take pictures with the statue of the Empress, love music in the cold breeze.

place is beautiful but becareful of pickpockets .Of all places ..my daugther lost her handphone to pickpockets.It was inside her handbag.We travelled safely to places like Thailand ,Vietnam ,Cambodia,China and Europe and it's so disappointing to have lost it to a pickpocket in Korea ..of all places.Even the crowded streets of Myeongdong was safer.Pickpockets should be targeting tourists...He/she was very fast to escape via the ferry and was soon transferring between train stations further and further away.It's my 3rd visit to this beautiful country..very disappointed and lodging a police report is another hassle.Not many spoke English.In the end,I lodge the report at Incheon Airport

Nami island is only a short ferry ride away and it is to spend half a day exploring the island. The scenery is beautiful and we can still see some autumn leaves. There are small cafes and shops along the way and you can even rent a bicycle. I would love to visit it again during spring.

Nanjing Island is located at the border of Kyungdao, Jiangsuang, and is known for its "Winter Love Song" landscape, and has since become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Korea. And this time on October 31, 2024, we came to Nanjing Island, mainly to appreciate the silver almond road and myrtle leaves, I am happy to see both of these, and they are beautiful, but there are too many visitors, and it is not good to see. To enter Nanjing Island, there are two ways, namely by ferry and high-air skiing. Both methods of tickets can be purchased at the ferry, no special reservation, very convenient. Both approaches include tickets, so you don’t need to buy tickets anymore.

A tiny island. Pretty and good for spend a afternoon but not as pretty as expected. Full of beautiful and big trees but also has some tiny bugs flying around. It is easy to identify that there were many k drama were filmed there.
Besides ferry, there is an alternative to cross the river to arrive the island, zip line, and it seems very fun.
The island has some art pieces around.
Don't be rush if you want to go there. You may need to wait for two ferries for your return.
There are many clean toilets on the island.
There is a beautiful Starbucks on your way to the ferry pier which you may not want to miss too.

Tourist trap. This is where they filmed some of the scenes in k-drama “Winter Sonatas”. Your ticket gives you the round trip boat ride to this tiny island in the middle of the river. The boat ride takes about 5 minutes each way. There are places to drink and eat on this island. I have been to municipal parks that are better than this. AVOID. Most visitors are foreigners.

Our tour guides made this an excellent experience. The reviews for Nami Island was mixed at best so we started out with some doubts. Our tour guides Tomas and Alex met us with bright smiles in a rainy day. They explained the day. They were upbeat, encouraging and very attentive. They got us there early so we were almost the only folks in the ferry boat. It was a short trip to the island but it was beautiful. Their descriptions of the history of the place made it come even more alive. We had the island almost to ourselves. The rain had almost stopped by the time we got to the island so we were able to explore, take pictures, ask questions to our heart’s content. We had a wonderful lunch in an almost empty restaurant then we were on to the Garden of Morning Calm. That place was absolutely idyllic. Tomas and Alex walked around the well thought out, planned a d executed grounds that look like they effortlessly appeared that way by nature (or fairy dust). We saw ostrich and peacock. There were fountains and babbling brooks and waterfalls. The peacefulness crept into your soul.

Definitely more crowded. I would eat before going there as there is not much variety. To be honest go somewhere else the place is so boring

Unfortunately, I've not been to Nami on Christmas day.
However, I believe if u reach the island by 10am or earlier, it should not be crowded. That's the time I arrived and it was fantastic till the crowd swarmed the island. Hope this helps.

I would say no. Because of global warming, there's rarely snow in most parts of Korea; even in the most high season places. It rarely snow in recent years.

It’s easiest and convenient to take their bus shuttle service that picks you up from central areas and drops you off at the ferry entrance. tripadvisor does not allow me to post the link. But you can google “how to get to nami island” and check their website at namisum
Or book a day tour with Klook or Trazy to explore with other attractions around that Gapyeong area.

If you are driving yourself you can buy entrance tickets when you arrive at these destinations. However if you want to go with a guide/driver, you should book a week or two in advance, to make sure you don't miss out.
