First time visitor. Amazing group of actors. Play was well thought out using available space and sets. Will go again.

Taproot Theatre is great, intimate theatre. There are no bad seats. The plays are often thought provocating and always have a meaningful message.

Saw a musical with friends. They do a great job here, passionate actors, innovative directing. Intimate seating. So much work put in by cast. Lovely coffee area outside of theater. A venue that deserves your support. Great seasonal shows as well.

This is such a great theatre and they do really good shows. Definitely check this place out for a cool, intimate, professional production. Have seen a show here almost every visit to Seattle and never disappointed.

From our balcony seats, we could see just fine. I think I would have preferred main floor seats and will try those on future events.

Went to a matinee performance of Always Patsy Cline. It must have been senior day as this mid-week matinee audience was the 70+ crowd. Great little venue with a cafe in the lobby, comfortable seating and very reasonable pricing. The performance was energetic and good. My wife thought the singing could’ve been a little better. I thought it was fine. But we both enjoyed the performance.

Would recommend this theater. By coincidence, we had friends who then went to the Friday night performance.

We have had season tickets at Taproot Theater for years. It is located in north Seattle. The plays are consistently excellent. In addition, there is free parking and an attached cafe. It is always a great pleasure to attend because of the good service and friendly staff and volunteers.

Last night, we got to see Taproot Theatre's latest production, Camping with Henry and Tom. The premise is a camping trip with industrialist Henry Ford, inventor Thomas Edison, and president Warren G Harding. Because this review is more about the theatre and you may be reading this long after this production has run it's course, I will say little about the play and more about the theatre. Yet, the choice of material produced by Taproot is indicative of the culture of this intimate, professional, neighborhood theatre. The show featured, a small cast, on a thrust stage (audience on three sides), with a simple set, well-directed, effective light, sound, set, and costume design. We learned through the materials displayed and written by Taproot's own dramaturg (I have never seen this type of educational material so well done at any other theatre) that Ford and Edison actually "camped" together, with an entire entourage of staff and equipment, and were joined on at least one occasion by Harding. So the premise was believable, and the acting brought the characters to life. (I attended T.A. Edison HS in NYC, so I had a personal interest in the humorously portrayed Edison character played by Rob Burgess). Ford was played by David Pichette, and Harding was played by Frank Lawler. See the play, directed by Taproot founder and producing artistic director Scott Nolte, if it is still running when you read this. Otherwise, go see whatever play or musical is on stage currently.

The theatre is small and friendly, as are all the on-site staff. There are no bad seats. We sat upstairs last night. We had a great balcony view of the entire stage. In the past we have had stage-level tickets at very edge of the stage, incredibly close and intimate, literally within arms reach of the actors.

A "thrust stage" production is no-doubt challenging. But we have been to many Taproot shows over the years and have never been disappointed. The cast and crew always makes it work. Not just in an accommodating sense, but so that when you leave the theatre you can't imagine the story being told in any other way. They also fill the space, entering and exiting in all directions, so that the audience becomes part of the acting space.

Taproot is so much a Greenwood neighborhood presence, that the community, the local restaurants, and parking facilities, all work to accommodate theatre-going patrons in a friendly neighborhood manner.

Taproot has grown in it's over 40 years of theatre, adding a new stage, and a cafe. We have yet to see a production in the new facility, but we are eager to experience more "professional theatre in a neighborhood setting." Highly recommended.

Son and I went to a matinee with about 45 other students. It is a small, intimate theater. We saw Civil War Theater. It was a lovely, thought provoking performance. The theater was comfortable and clean. We parked at a nearby parking lot about a block away. We will definitely attend more shows.

I started going to Taproot about 3-4yrs ago and I try not to miss a show anymore. They do an excellent mix of humor and thought-provoking productions. They even have a "Pay What You Can" night. Heartily recommended. I take my daughters also.
