We had seen it was the oldest bar in Seattle so thought great we’d go - we were disappointed by the lack of history given it’s the oldest bar - it was dirty and smelt.
Staff uninterested just chatting with each other as tho we were an inconvenience - not in the best neighbourhood either

A complete disappointment! As a European you are discriminated against in this bar! Right-wing extremist bouncers with the motto "America First" who are annoying tourists who visit the bar because of its history! We are a 50-something couple with a university degree! Well-groomed and freshly showered 😅 we wanted to have a last drink after our delicious dinner and couldn't even get in! A rather unkempt gentleman at the entrance asked us for our ID! Our Luxembourgish identity card wasn't enough for him, he told us as Europeans we needed a passport! We argued a bit and finally went back to the hotel to get our passport! Unfortunately, this didn't help in the end! The bouncer and his colleague at the bar became extremely aggressive and asked if we didn't understand English, that we were not wanted here and that we should look for another bar! My wife really did her best to teach the boys a lesson in law, but it was no use! After a shove from the bouncer towards my wife, we finally left this disgusting xenophobic hole😳

Met up with some friends here before the Rolling Stones at nearby Lumen Field. Good place for drinks and people watching and was amazed to learn about its history as the birthplace of grunge. All the pictures and show posters were such a nice touch. Only downside was the lack of vegan food (hence only four stars). But if you are looking for a place to pre-game before shows or sporting events at the nearby stadium (or just a rock fan), this is it.

We happened to be passing by The Central Saloon and went in for a look. What an amazing place! A lot of history there. It was established in 1892 and is still going! You can eat and have a drink and a good time too. Worth a stop!

Passed by the place during our Underground tour and thought we'd stop in for a bite. The menu on the website showed they had vegetarian options. When we got there, the new menu no longer had those options (supply chain issues!). The bartender was so accommodating! Told our son where to get a garden burger nearby, and then let him eat that restaurant's food inside the Central Saloon. My husband and I split an order of fish and chips which was super tasty. It was not too crowded at lunch and the doors were open to keep the place ventilated. Restroom downstairs is not to be missed (creep venue downstairs).

Close to Pikes Place if you want to wet your whistle. Plus a chance to experience a piece of history, Seattle's oldest bar, 1892.

What a nice departure from a busy tourist day on a Saturday in Seattle. The saloon is old and rustic looking with a lot of character and ambiance. Unlike the rest of the downtown area that was crowded with tourists, this charming place had some locals in it and was pretty quiet. We had a couple of beers, that were sorta pricey, and sat outside watching the crowd. The service was friendly and the beers were cold. Certainly a place worth trying when you're in the area.

I really enjoyed all the memorabilia this classic joint has to offer. Wether you are into alternative, classic or Punk Rock you will be pleased with this selection of a great place to hang solo or with a group of friends. Prices are better than most nearby establishments. Food is equally as good. Alexandra, Thomas and Phil we're amazing and full of life and knowlage! They always had my drinks prompt. Love this accommodating staff. Music was perfect. I am a loyal customer forever. You all Rock, see ya soon. Remember Miguel!

Walking down the street we spotted this sandwich board advertising daily special of beef curry at The Central Saloon.
Having heard that this was the oldest bar in Seattle, we entered by its long tile walk way, for a couple of icy cold adult beverages. It was with some difficulty that we managed to attract the eye of the bartender, who seemed to be very busy at the far end of the bar near the dog watering bowl, pouring very large shoots for what looked like a homeless person. But in the end, we did manage to order a pint of Mac & Jack American amber ale, and a pint of Freemont draft beer for a very reasonable price.
The kitchen was unmanned when we came in so did not bother to order any food. Interesting collection of memorabilia on the walls of band past and present, even had two large colourful paintings of a pianist and jazz trumpet player on the wall near the stage. Historical photos of old town Seattle, were in abundant, even had a Shrine to Jimmy Hendrix complete with religious candles. Overall it is a dark and shabby place in much need of cleaning and painting. But late at night with a packed house lots of beers and a loud band who cares.
TIP: You should visit just to feel what bars were like in the old days of rock and roll, but only when a band is playing, and get a buzz somewhere else, to save time waiting at the bar

Old time tavern. Antique bar and accessories. Friendly female bartenders full of exotic tattoos all over their bodies. Sports frenzied patrons cheering for football, soccer, and baseball teams on 3 large TVs. Good greasy bar food. Reasonable beer prices and a wide selection on tap. Bud Light $ 4.50 Bloody Mary $8
