I am reviewing this as a tourist visiting Atlanta. I would probably write a different review if I lived in Atlanta and became a member. As a tourist, this is not something to put high on your list of things to do while on vacation. It's a genuinely nice place with okay art, but there is not a big draw that says you must visit this place.

We spent three hours here checking out every exhibit on every floor in every building. Most of the exhibits were enjoyable. Some were odd. I did not like the temporary poster exhibit. It was not beautiful to my eye, and it was mostly Russian and Eastern Europe languages that I could not read.

What this place does really well is rotating special exhibits. The Obama portraits just finished. The children's illustration and Polaroid photos are currently on display. It would be enjoyable to be a member and make routine visits for a few hours when exhibits change.

Our family really enjoyed the Obama Portraits at High Museum. Awesome to see the exhibit as it showed how the paintings came to completion and what the different elements meant. The gift shop had plenty of items to choose from, the line for the cashier was long but it wasn't too bad. Our Obama tickets were for 11:30am today (Saturday) and it was a good time before the parking garage became too full. We stayed in the museum for about 2.5 hours and my 9th grader enjoyed seeing the other art pieces as well. Each staff person we encountered was courteous and very pleasant from the time we entered until we left the museum. Glad to see the safety protocols were in place, nice to see masks were required for patrons in the museum. So glad we had a chance to see the Obama pieces in person!

Great museum.
Disappointed by the staffing during our most recent visit. We went to the Obama portraits exhibition on Saturday. We had reservations for 10:30. It was very crowded. I wonder if they over booked. They certainly did not have a welcoming staff presence.
Any way the line structure to wait at the exhibition in the museum was confusing and the museum had two lines - one for members and one for non members. Everyone went to the members line which was very long. Then people started going to the non-members line which was real short.
The biggest complaints are that there was only one guy working to guide the crowds to the upstairs waiting line. He had to corral more than 100 guests.
Then after we went upstairs and got in the final line before going into the exhibition, the woman working at the entrance decided to take a 10 minute break. So we all just stood there. Eventually the guy from downstairs came upstairs and was asking where is she? He was exasperated! We were too. The lines were getting too crowded. The he told everyone that just came upstairs to go back downstairs! We did not. Eventually the woman came back and let us in.
Another big complaint is that the museum only had one cashier working in the book store and the line snaked out the door.
The High museum staff knew that this would be a very popular exhibition (obviously since they made us make reservations) and did not get their act together for the mass crowds. Big disappointment for everyone attending.
The actual exhibition was great after we got in.

This museum has an outstanding collection.

The building is quite interesting too. Although one can easily get lost as there are really 3 buildings with interconnections that are not obvious.

Easily spent hours in the photo exhibit. The third building was in transion and had only one exhibit in the whole thing. Interesting variety of stuff. Did the whole museum in 4 hours or so. No real food options for a meal there though.

There's something new to see each time we visit the museum. I would focus on the artistic nuances of some of the works on display without clicking the shutters. Thanks.

Great experience for groups or individuals. Currently featuring Calder-Picasso. The lighting exhibit was very interesting.

This place had some of the most beautiful art I have ever seen! They also let military members in for free! There is even things for kidos to enjoy here!

Very close to the Arts Center Martra Station, just across the street and up a glass elevator. The buildings are beautiful but a close-up look shows it in need maintenance. The art collection is mostly modern art that has mostly no meaning. There is one gallery that holds European art with a few Monets and one Renoir. A few 'not to be missed' pieces that justify the $14.50 admission include the bronze sculpture Minotaurus which is cast in the artist's (Nandipha Mntambo) likeness. Also, the American sculptures and portraits on the third(?) floor are quite beautiful.
