This is a beautiful spot. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trash.... the waterfall itself had smashed fruit and flowers. I noticed another reviewer mention that very same thing a while back.... What we saw looked freshly placed. What the heck is that about? All the same we enjoyed our time here. It's lovely.

The first thing we noticed when visiting was the overwhelming smell of marijuana. There was a used condom on the trail and trash at the focal points. When we got to the waterfall there was trash everywhere and someone had left smashed fruit on the rocks of the waterfall. A guy was sitting on the rocks smoking weed so it stunk and we couldn't even stand there long. To get there you have to drive though an area of town that has a high crime rate. DON'T GO! It's dirty and feels dangerous.

A beautiful and diverse hike close to Atlanta. Once you are on the trail, the city disappears behind the beautiful forest and bird songs.

This trail is convenient due to the fact that it is located inside the perimeter. However, it is a bit busy and needs some attention. On the day that we visited there was a variety of fruits, flowers and even a dead chicken in the waterfall. Some sort of ritual sacrifice? Not sure, but just gave a weird feeling to the place. There are enough trails to stretch your legs and get a decent walk.

Loved my quiet walk with my family at this trail. It is a small defined loop, but we were able to venture off and explore the beautiful nature in the park. There is a very beautiful waterfall and well and some nice decking at the entrance of the park. Make sure you wear shoes that can get muddy if you go during rainy times. Overall a great experience.

I'm giving this 4 of 5 mostly due to it's tranquil feel and how much I enjoyed the walk.
If you are looking for a nature-hike while not having to venture far from an in-town starting location, this is a good target venue. It is located on Cascade Road a couple of miles inside 285. There are no amenities on site (restrooms, etc.) so plan accordingly.
The parking lot is gravel. The overall feel of the park is of semi-neglect. There are boardwalks and trails, but they are only marginally maintained. Where large trees have fallen onto paths, the paths have been diverted. Where such trees have damaged boardwalks, there are stop-gap plywood repairs. My wish would be that high-dollar, wasteful projects like the pedestrian bridge near MB Stadium ($25+ million) would have been scaled back slightly and $500k or so devoted to places like this.
Still, there is nothing profoundly wrong with this venue. Especially after a rain, you should wear hiking boots. If you do, you should have no real issue in navigating the trails within the park. We explored most of what appeared to be the larges loop. We spent a total of an hour inside the park, and enjoyed it. There is a fairly sizable (15 foot) waterfall to observe. The trail is a bit hilly, but easily navigable. When we went (mid-afternoon on Sunday) there were not that many people. We had the trail to ourselves for about 3/4 of the hike. There were occasional other hikers and one guy asleep on a bench along the trail (?), but otherwise it was quite nice. Be prepared to climb over the occasional fallen tree.
My only advice would be to come here after a few dry days, so as to avoid any muddy patches. We arrived the day after a rain, so there was definitely a lot of water and mud to get by. But overall, for convenience to the city, this is a nice park.

The Cascade Nature Preserve is an odd place. To find such a beautiful, peaceful nature trail within a normal residential area, is absolutely phenomenal! Great for individuals or families, the nature walk/trails offer covered, shaded walking trails, along several waterways. To view and listen to a natural spring and waterfall, provides a calming, spiritual experience. I observed deer and plenty of nature, yet undisturbed by the guest. There are a variety of trails, which can provide a real workout to those who are seeking it - the trails are hilly, so be prepared to walk up and down the trails. There is also a small seating/outside classroom along the creek, which is a nice touch. Just outside of the parking lot, are a couple of picnic tables and greenspace for usage. Although it's not huge place, it provides a huge experience, for those who want it. And it's all FREE!

Really enjoyed the nature reserve. About an hour hike if you go all the way around the perimeter trail. Only draw back was 2 off leash, large pit bulls running around the creek by the trail to the right of the entrance. It was very disarming as we have a smaller dog that could be easily hurt by bigger dogs 'playing'. It would be a great park if I wasn't looking over my shoulder trying to figure out where the off leash dogs were.

The springs were very relaxing. My girls climb the rocks to take some amazing pictures. The preserve is small, but the trail requires some effort because the terrain is not flat.

Yes, dogs are allowed, saw joggers with a dog during my visit. Not sure however if it's an off leash or leash-only park.
