The Holywell is stunning and worth the effort, and it is an effort to get there. We parked in the lay-by allocated for parking on the web site. Church was locked, Museum locked, we could see the well but could not get in. Others were doing exactly the same as us unable to get into the Well. They gave up and drove away. We continued I then saw a building down from the well at the end of the garden, we made out way down the hill, no easy task for me. Bottom of the slope two disabled spaces, very annoying as I had used all my strength to get to the building... one space used by staff one free. We found the way in. Three staff on, I am a cancer sufferer and urgently needed the toilet. "The welsh Government do not allow tourist toilets to be open unless serving drinks"? We have been here a week in Wales, all radar toilets are open? Do you just dislike disabled people or is it shear laziness? Charged entrance despite being there with my carer. Loved the well, one way system has steps and we had to carry my chair up and down steps, only two visitors on site. What a jobs worth. On the way out a man was trying to find the way in we pointed the way also two ladies took our parking space and we said they were in the right place..

I took a visitor to visit this site on a rainy day. We tried to walk up an attractive forest path to the site which led across the river from an approved car park, but had to turn back as we couldnt find St Winefred’s. So we had to drive further up the road and there was nowhere to park except an empty car park for a church on the crest of the hill. So we left someone in this empty carpark, which stated it was for church patrons only, while we tried to find St Winefred’s site by walking back down the road. In the event, we were charged for illegal parking.

Paid a £1 entrance. Gift shop and facilities. You are required to wear a face covering, but don't panic, they have some.
Lovely little visit and even lit a candle for my mum.

We visited on a Sunday morning and spent around half an hour here. As a result of covid, the exhibition is closed, and the pool has barriers around it to prevent people bathing, which detracts from its beauty a little. Nevertheless, we were still able to buy little holy water bottles from the shop and fill them up at the well. We could also go in the chapel and light a candle. As the exhibition is closed, you don’t need much time here. It’s only £1 per adult to enter. You can park free on the road outside. There is one public toilet available. It’s worth a visit, but don’t make a long journey here just to see the well, perhaps combine your trip with a visit to Rhyl, Prestatyn or Flint castle.

St Winifrides Well and Shrine are situated on a steep hill which travels from Holywell to Greenfield. So if walking as we were from Holywell it was a very steep climb back up to the town. The venue itself was beautiful and calming, we recived a very friendly welcome and took our time walking around the buildings and well. Social ditancing rules were observed by everyone there. Although I live within a few miles of this location had never vistied and am very glad i came. A lovely place to sit and contemplate. There is a £1 charge to enter 60p if you are a pensioner.

Take a deep breath on entering the well itself. You have just, stepped back, in to, the 14th Century. A deeply spiritual experience. Respect called for here!

Beautiful shrine and adjacent holy well of St Winifrede, that continues to be blessed with an air of sanctity and holiness. The main buildings are medieval and the well water has healing properties. There is a shop and refreshment room nearby with a car park across the road. Pilgrims can take away as much well water as required, providing they bring their own container(s). This is the only holy well in the country with and unbroken tradition of pilgrimage since the fifth century. I can thoroughly recommend a visit.
