Very peaceful ancient church with the the natural well. The building is ancient with gothic vaulted ceilings and gargoyles. When we visited it was quiet as the pool wasn't open but shortly after it was very busy with people arriving to fill their water bottles and dip in the pool.

There is also a small museum and gift shop relaying the story and history.

Nothing like it used to be, don't know who took over but there is no atmosphere any more you felt blessed but not now, in the shrine itself there's no where to sit and pray everything feels commercialise, I will always call when I am in Wales but its just not the same.

A sacred space, worth visiting to experience. Helpful staff and easy to find. I went on a chilly November morning and it inspired to find out more.

Interesting place and informative little museum.
60p each for us two concessions (£1 for others).
A few more explanatory boards would be useful - as long as they were discreet.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Good for a family pilgrimage. We visited the place and participated the service. The priest was very nice.

Visible from the main road, the Well is worthy of a further look. Limited car parking space available on the other side of the road or in the lay by on the hill. It cost £1 for adults or just 60p for those over 60 so although this is only small it is well worth a visit. There is a small museum and gift shop on site and you can read the story behind the well before you go outside to see it. There were signs to suggest that bathing in the well was available on some days but the day we visited wasn’t one of them. Note that the well is found next to St James church and not as you would expect by St Winifriede’s church. If you approach from the town take the left turn rather than the right, which leads to a dead end.

Well is a shrine and its meant for worthship and that you can do there it's only small but very nice and peaceful unless you come at bathing times then it can get quit packed and noisy
It's a quit to go in and the lady I interacted with at the till was lively and full of knowledge about this place

Cool to see, cost £2 to get in for 2 people but interesting. Not much info as exhibition was closed. Says you can bathe but a bit confusing

The Holywell is stunning and worth the effort, and it is an effort to get there. We parked in the lay-by allocated for parking on the web site. Church was locked, Museum locked, we could see the well but could not get in. Others were doing exactly the same as us unable to get into the Well. They gave up and drove away. We continued I then saw a building down from the well at the end of the garden, we made out way down the hill, no easy task for me. Bottom of the slope two disabled spaces, very annoying as I had used all my strength to get to the building... one space used by staff one free. We found the way in. Three staff on, I am a cancer sufferer and urgently needed the toilet. "The welsh Government do not allow tourist toilets to be open unless serving drinks"? We have been here a week in Wales, all radar toilets are open? Do you just dislike disabled people or is it shear laziness? Charged entrance despite being there with my carer. Loved the well, one way system has steps and we had to carry my chair up and down steps, only two visitors on site. What a jobs worth. On the way out a man was trying to find the way in we pointed the way also two ladies took our parking space and we said they were in the right place..

I took a visitor to visit this site on a rainy day. We tried to walk up an attractive forest path to the site which led across the river from an approved car park, but had to turn back as we couldnt find St Winefred’s. So we had to drive further up the road and there was nowhere to park except an empty car park for a church on the crest of the hill. So we left someone in this empty carpark, which stated it was for church patrons only, while we tried to find St Winefred’s site by walking back down the road. In the event, we were charged for illegal parking.
