It’s a nice convenient location for Heights residents which is how I chose it. The decor, however, I found a bit smothering with cutesy things, knick knacks, plastic floral arrangements, books galore and enough pillows to fill the Playboy Mansion. It’s kinda a cross between your grandma’s parlor and her attic with a little Parish waiting room thrown in. I felt claustrophobic. Agreed, many folks would find this homey and cozy especially if they like to read and drink tea (Nicely available). My body massage and foot and hand massage with paraffin wrap were okay. A bit of pressure (as asked for) would have been nice but, again, many customers likely prefer the soft touch modality (Should have upped it to the deep tissue). The deal breaker for me was the continual muzak sound track playing loudly everywhere. I couldn’t wait to get to my car and away from it. Synthesized instruments makes me cry. Maybe, quiet classical, jazz or nothing?? Just let me breathe in silence. That would have been blissful.

The “owner”/ owner’s husband, Chris Rockett, is a sexual predator. He will rub his erection on you while he massages, get way too close to your breasts, and sniff your hair/ears. When you confront his predatory behavior, he will get teary eyed and say he has problems and you are just so pretty. It’s disgusting. I have 0 idea how this place is still in business. I have told the massage board and have retained an attorney. Based on these reviews, I am not the only one. His wife needs to stop covering for him.

Had a gift card and called several times trying to use it, they had limited hours or closed for covid reasons. Now they are open and refuse to accept it because it expired….

I posted a complaint last week regarding my appointment being "botched". I wanted to give an update. Since that time, the owner called to speak with me to offer her apology. She was very pleasant, and explained what happened, and acknowledged my irritation at the mistake. She offered me a discount and asked me to reconsider returning to the spa. I did agree, and had a really great facial, great service, and although it wasn't necessary, an apology note from the employee who made the mistake. Anyway, I felt it was important to report that The Back Porch is very concerned with service and their customers. I am pleased to be back!!

I booked an appointment for today for a microderm abrasion treatment. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk said she couldn't find me on the schedule. I told her what time I called and she said, "That's Ashley, and she's gone for the day". I spelled my name, just in case it was on there but misspelled but nothing. This woman offered no apology, no offer to reschedule, no offer to help me in any way, nothing! When I asked to speak to the manager/owner, she said the manager was not available, so I asked her to have the manager call me. I asked to speak to the owner, and she said she would give the owner my telephone number but I couldn't have their number. When I said that I was pretty upset, she just kept saying "My hands are tied", and "What do you expect me to do?". Honestly, this woman had absolutely no customer service skills! I would not want her to represent my company , or I would at least get her some training, especially how to maintain customer satisfaction even when things go wrong. I don't know if the manager will call me, I fear not. I have always held this business in high regard, but I will not return, based on how I was treated today. The lack of customer service, rather than the mess up on the appointment, is why I won't go back.

I had a hand and foot paraffin treatment with herbal wrap and a massage courtesy of my daughter. It was WONDERFUL!!!. I had some pain in my shoulder and ankle and I have told my doctor about it and she felt it was just arthritis, but after Kathleen did the massage the pain is gone and it is the following day and still feel good. My skin is soft all over. It is a very relaxing place, soft music, lights and the staff talk softly also to keep the atmosphere that way. I would highly recommend them!

I had a massage and facial while at this spa and both were wonderful. I was served camomile tea and cookies and the waiting area was very relaxing. I didn’t feel at all rushed. The treatments were a birthday gift from a friend, who also went with me. Think she had a wonderful experience as well.

This spa is VERY DARK-very. It has dusty, artificial flowers/foliage hanging everywhere, very low ceilings and low sitting chairs (like you're sitting on the floor). This spa does NOT smell or look light, bright, airy and cheerful. It is a deep, dark, low, heavy atmosphere with dark colors and low lights-DARK. The outside could possibly look like an abandoned building when you drive up - just concrete and things sort of strewn about (an old hose, planting pots, etc.).
Also seems to be antiquated...when I went for a pedicure the attendant had a large, portable basin that she filled up and had to keep the products out of the water she said because they could not go down the drain. They had some plumbing issues she said.
Someone bought me a gift card with a large amount on it so I have been to this "spa" a number of times. Finally I couldn't take the dark, depressing atmosphere anymore and just left the balance on my gift card and did not go back. It has been years since I was there and so maybe things have changed.
The location is very convenient in Albuquerque.

Was able to secure appointments at the same time for a small group of friends (male and female) at the last minute. It was very unassuming from the entrance but as we approached the front door, Shannon (the manager/owner) welcomed us as if we were old friends and we felt right at home. It's not a fancy day spa, but a warm, welcoming oasis where relaxation is key and life's challenges can be checked at the door.
We opted for the 30min foot treatment and 1hr full body massage. It was 90mins of bliss and everyone raved about their treatments by their individual masseuse.
Afterwards, we sat in the lounge area, all a little too relaxed almost, and we were offered a glass of their summer blush rose which was a fun and lovely way to end our visit to this great place.
There's some gift options for friends, the home and for relaxation. Loved our morning here and we went to the Mexican place across the street for lunch afterwards! A great half -day out. If I ever get back to Albuquerque, I'll be making an advance appointment here so I can get a massage, a facial and whatever else they have on offer!

Excellent place to do a spa day with friends. Recommend getting reservations. The body wraps are good and prices are reseanable.
