Nice trail. pets are allowed leashed. bike are not allowed. The trail itself is steep and could be very slippery when it's wet. Loo is not very long, but you can walk on the beach and that adds another kilometer to your trip

Beautiful, easy loop hike down to the beach. My 4 and 6 year olds were able to do the hike without issue. The path is through the woods and well maintained. For COVID reasons, the loop is one-way for walkers to help with social distancing. Perfect time of year to see the fall in all its colors. Note that we were there on a warm Saturday. At 2pm the parking lot was full with a park ranger turning cars away. We returned at 4 and were able to park just fine.

We took the kids here as an after school outing. The last time I visited was 1989. Beautiful grounds to walk around. This is was a working farm owned by Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. His home was available for tours but are currently suspended due to covid. We walked around and enjoyed the scenery. The leaves have changed colors on many of the trees. Worth a visit, if visiting the north shore of Long Island.

On a winter weekend, we arrived early to get on a tour and were able to make it. But, only a couple of hours later it was full and tour space was probably not available. So, go right at opening as it was very surprising it was full the cold morning we visited.

The historic house is filled with all authentic original belongings of the Roosevelt family, gifts given to him from world leaders and visitors, and even the great room of the house being used for official Presidential cabinet meetings and business. Lots of great information in the museum about his history of traveling outside the US, achievements within the USA and about his family too inside the house from the tour guides.

The tour is about an hour long, to read all the displays you need another hour or a little more. If you want to walk the grounds and go down to the shoreline, give yourself another hour. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here total, and pets are welcome outdoors, just not inside the buildings. In some areas there aren't many trees, in others there are so bring a hat to protect from the sun, and watch out for poison ivy if you go down to the shoreline.

This is a great historic site to visit. The National park service does a great job running Sagamore Hill. There is a small museum with some interesting exhibits to view. And the highlight was the tour of the home. It was a fascinating house, with game trophies all around the house. It is also nice to walk around the grounds. We spent about 3 hours at Sagamore Hill. It is worth the trip out to Long Island. Theodore Roosevelt is buried a short drive from the home as well

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is a place that everyone should see. Teddy Roosevelt's home is amazing. The docent tour is fabulous. They are so interesting and provide stories about actual events and the people that lived here. The museum that is on the premised provides the life and times of Teddy Roosevelt.

After 20th century cycles, the bay and Italian Ice we (mom, 27 year old son and his gal) headed to Sagamore Hill. My son knows that mom loves history and always goes for the “extended field trip” - his girlfriend had never experienced a president’s home so it was great to watch her react to the experience as a first timer. The docent we had showing us Teddy Roosevelt’s summer White House was quite excellent and if you pay attention you learn that each era had/has its own issues and agendas pushing envelopes. The perspectives and lessons are fascinating. The home itself is a turn of the century museum (of wealth on the edge, I believe), showing aspects of life like that, stories about the children, a horrible one about how wife #1 died at childbirth, and awful consequences to that daughter. He lived direct across from a Great Gatsby territory and just a bit earlier so you get a sense of geography. There is also a separate museum about what all he accomplished (rough riders in war, National Parks, etc). It’s worth the visit. I’m biased@0- I could read bios of all the presidents and go to all the homes. It helped make us who we are today as Americans and it helps to keep perspective on the present.

We had a fascinating and informative visit to Sagamore Hill where our guide, John, told us wonderful interesting stories about the Roosevelts and their home. John is a history buff and knows a great deal about the all the members of the family and we felt as if we got to know them. Of course, the grounds are lovely in every season - flowers in the spring and changing leaves in the fall. It is difficult to purchase tickets on site, so buy them in advance on the website. Also, there is a lot of walking and it may be difficult for people with handicaps. We went with a friend who used a walker. A lovely gentleman helped her to climb three flights of steps to the bedrooms. Would it be possible for an elevator to be built somewhere so that the house could be more handicapped accessible? Also, don’t miss the visitor center which has a museum with many interesting artifacts and articles about teddy Roosevelt‘s life.

Visited on a beautiful fall day in Oct. the home is available for tours and is well worth it. You get to see basically the entire house on every floor and every room. Quite a large home with many many rooms. The views were amazing and the hiking trail to the water was picture perfect. We took the LIRR from NYC Jamaica Station and it went straight to Oyster Bay which is a great little village to explore. Uber to the house which is down the main road about 3 miles. Along the way you’ll pass the cemetery which the President is buried. Beautiful site in the trees up on the hill. All in all it was a great day in a great setting.
