AU is the best! Been fishing with them now 8 times out of the past 10 years. Hard working and friendly people from the first contact by phone or email. Then when you get greeted at the airport- Friendly hosts drive you to the AU charter. All the captains work hard to get you on the fish- You wont find a harder working crew in the Sitka area. Highly recommend AU if your going out for the very first time or returning.

Our 3-day fishing trip was outstanding. Starting with Kim keeping us up to date leading up to our fish date arrival. Met promptly at the airport on arrival, along with our boxes of fish being delivered to the airport prior to our pick up for our departure. The entire staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We fished with Captain Tyler & Deck Hand Gunner, who were fun to be around all day! Captain Tyler had a plan each morning & put us on fish throughout the day. Communicating to us when we needed to stay up, so he could move us back over the target area. Tyler and Gunner were quick to address any and all issues from rebaiting to assist landing our catch. We had times when 3 to all 4 of us had hookups, and they quickly assisted with what we called controlled chaos, not loosing a single hookup! Our group of 4 limited out all 3 days with Coho, Halibut, & Rock Fish. 3 of our group caught King Salmon keepers, along with one Lingcod keeper. Having to release 3 other Lingcod that were 45-49 inches. I'd highly recommend fishing with Angling Unlimited and would request to have Captain Tyler.

I have been blessed in that i have fished with au the past 3 junes. 4 times overall. From the pick up at the airport to the check in at departure with your box of fish going home. Everything is done to make your trip a success and enjoyable as possible. Captain Sarah has taken us out the past three years and we have just caught our limits on a daily basis. In June we focus on king salmon and halibut and we enjoy the ride to the fishing grounds the scenery the fishing action. Pictures and reviews don’t explain how awesome this trip is

Just returned from a fishing trip with Angling Unlimited in Sitka. I have been fishing with AU for eight straight years and about six before that (I took a break from Alaska fishing for about five years). Throughout the years AU has provided a great fishing experience. From making reservations with friendly Kim in the Minnesota office to the girls picking us up from the airport to the crew and support staff in Sitka it is always a fantastic trip. This year Anna was our hostess and she did a great job shuttling us to and from the dock and taking care of our suite and needs. Captain James (as is normal) and deckhand Hayden were constantly there by our sides giving us fishing tips, helping with bait and most importantly netting or gaffing the fish. For the eighth straight year Captain James always knows how to put us on the fish. James and Hayden were a great crew with good conversation, excellent fishing music and always a good joke to be had. All of the other hostesses pitched in to help drive the shuttles, bake cookies for the boats and help us with whatever we needed. AU is a really great team and family like company that makes you feel good about being in Sitka for a great experience. You gotta love those Minnesota accents, too!!

For the past 8 years, my husband and his fishing buddies have traveled to Sitka to catch Halibut, Salmon and other fish. For four of the past 5 years, I have joined them. That first year, Captain Brian AKA Cobra showed me the ropes. And, when I caught my first Black Cod, he told me why I should be happy to have gotten that species and even gave me a recipe for cooking it. Since that first night of eating soy sauce marinated and then grilled Black Cod, I have been hooked on that as my favorite fish and our annual pilgrimage to Sitka as my favorite trip. Better than late night Blues head boats out of Brooklyn, day trips to Cape Cod for porgies, multi day trips into the gulf out of Key West or Tampa, deep sea fishing off the NC coast. Even better than our Australia charter. It's not just the variety and multitude of fish. We get Halibut, silver and king salmon, rockfish, pacific Cod, Ling Cod, Black Cod (my hands down favorite). We get 200 lbs of fish normally, though one year the fishing was slow and we came home with 150 lbs. It is the people. From our amazing captains, both Brian who retired and now comes back to hang out as a mate while we are there, and Captain James, who is calm, encouraging, understatedly aggressive about honoring the catch limits and has a quiet and kind sense of humor, to our hostesses and the support staff in Minnesota and Sitka. Kim in Minnesota is the epitome of the organized and caring administrator. She makes sure that absolutely every aspect of the trip is planned to perfection, from what size boots you wear to the timing of your van transport. She has a solution for any issue and is the easiest person to work with. Our favorite hostess is Cass. Smart, funny, thorough, kind and welcoming. She's such a fun person to talk to and makes sure you have whatever you need in your accommodations and loaner vehicle. All the guys who work on the docks fileting and sealing your catch as soon as it comes in are experts at their tasks. However you want the fish prepared, they are happy to accommodate. The entire operation is an absolute delight and every year I can't wait to go and can't believe how quickly the time flies while I am there. Thank you, Angling Unlimited, for unforgettable days in an unforgettable place with wonderful people.

I can't say enough good things about Angling Unlimited. It was, for me, a once in a lifetime fishing experience. Not having had any previous experience I was able to catch King and Silver Salmon, Halibut, and Rockfish. The tackle, bait, and location were all perfect as was the instruction. Afterward, the catch was cleaned, frozen, and 30 pounds of delicious wild caught Alaskan fish shopped back to us in NC.Couldn't have been easier. The extra treat was being out on the water in a beautiful salt water wilderness.

The crew and the lodge were perfect. We would def go back and highly recommend it to everyone. We were fishing for one day and caught enough fish for 6 months. It was a beautiful area and a wonderful experience. Captain Jack was great about taking us to his fishing spots. We caught King Salmon, Halibut, and Cod. Captain Jack and his crew Zachary and Caden taught us a lot about fishing for Salmon and Halibut plus they were fun!

My husband and I went on a fishing trip through Angling Unlimited for our honeymoon and we were so impressed by this company - we cannot say enough great things! My husband has been on multiple fishing trips and said this one far exceeds any he has ever been on. Their attention to detail, customer service, and communication is outstanding.
What impressed us the most was how hardworking the staff was. Our captain, Captain DJ, and deckhand Luke were some of the most hardworking people I have ever met. While on the boat, they consistently provided the best experience for us and ensured we had everything we needed for a great 3-days of fishing. I also want to say a big shout out to our hostess, Synneva, for all her help during our trip. She was beyond friendly, helpful, and professional from the moment we met her at the airport until the end of our trip - which appeared to be a common thread with all of the hostesses!
Lastly, this company is beyond streamlined with logistics. From the day we arrived, I felt like we never had to wait. They were so on top of being on time - ensuring customers got to their destination quickly and promptly. At the end at the airport, when we were greeted by two young boys who packaged our fish, I still couldn't believe how friendly they greeted us and ensured we were all set to go to end our trip. The top-notch service never stopped!
Overall, this was the best honeymoon we could have ever asked for (not to mention - we brought home SO much fresh fish!). Thank you to the whole team at Angling Unlimited for making this happen for us. I can say with 100% confidence we will be back - and hope to bring many more friends and family with us next time!

Would highly recommend booking your trip with Angling Unlimited. From arrival-lodging-fishing-fish processing-packaging to departure everything was flawless. They handle everything. I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire trip. Very cordial and professional staff. We had 3 different types of weather. Rainy with some wind, absolutely gusting winds with cold temperatures and an absolutely perfect day with some sun and a mild breeze. On all 3 days Captain Sarah worked to put us in a position to catch fish. She was successful on all 3 days. My son and I came home with a 100 lbs of perfectly cleaned and packaged fish. The experience was more than I could have imagined. Limits of King Salmon, Halibut and Rock Fish. Special thanks to Captain Sarah and Deckhand Pete. Going to make a return trip and request that you 2 are our crew once again.

AU made the 2020 year a one to remember. First, they worked out all the other details that needed to be made like the sending a COVID test to my home and having the results done by the time we landed. All the hosts were great as expected and the owners Tom and Chuck daily asked about our trip. This was my 5th time with AU and what made it a lot of fun was watching my buddy land a 31 pound King Salmon. Captain DJ was great and fun to fish with. Always getting us on the fish. After 3 great days on the water and full boxes it was time to head back home. AU had all the fish all boxed up and ready for the trip home. I have my dates already set for August 2021.

We would like to catch a mix of king salmon and halibut...We are in the early stages of planning our trip. What time/month would be ideal for our trip to Sitka?

Climate change has allowed a northern migration of warm water which has diminished the King salmon fishing around Sitka this season. It remains to be seen how that will play out in 2019. Still a good crop of Silvers and halibut to be harvested in the area. The Silver salmon are at their largest at the end of the season in late August.

about five minutes from airport. Not sure what a week would cost; phone Angling Unlimited for an accurate response since this would be a unique You would catch more than your trip limit in a week so you would have to catch and release for most of your fishingouting.
