Great place with great people running the show! I fell in love with the dog she was so lovable. We left with 28 keepers!

We have been coming to Beaver dam for over a decade and a half for crabbing! The current owners are so nice and friendly! We have always caught crabs and had a great time here!

Beaver Dam Boat Rentals was a terrific service for our Crabbing Adventure Day. We've tried other places (all boating spots; haven't tried off-bridge crabbing) and this place had the friendliest, most helpful staff and clean, reasonably-priced crabbing boats and supplies.
Located in Newport, New Jersey, this location not only had crabs for a'chatchin', but also an eagles' nest nearby with new hatchlings. We saw two adult eagles flying overhead throughout the day - what a magnificent sight. (Sidenote: Sometimes we release the crabs we might catch; sometimes we take them home for dinner - either way makes for a FUN day on the water!)
Other places we've been have rented out boats with motors. These boats are towed out to several spots throughout the day. We were hesitant about this but the staff came out to check on us frequently and it was much more peaceful than using / being surrounded by motorboats.
Beaver Dam rents the boat, crab traps, drop lines and bait. You may also use any of your own supplies instead, save for the boat. They have free restrooms and some light refreshments for sale on-site. We packed a lunch and only had to be towed in once for a well-timed restroom break (midday). We were on the water from 9 am to 3 pm, which we feel is a good amount of time for newbies like us :-) who've gone crabbing 5x's over the past three years.
This is a great trip for adult couples AND for families... basically the only difference is that we pack some nice, cold beers (drink responsibly!) when we go without the kidlets.
The only issue we've ever experience -here and everywhere thus far- is that there are pockets of gnats and/or flies in spots that are annoying and sometimes bite. The only thing to do is move the boat or wait it out and apply bug spray liberally.
TIPS: Bring Sunscreen! - pack your own lunch/cooler - pack cleansing wipes for sticky, fishy hands - pack small medical kit (for minor cuts/bug bites, etc.) - A Great Picture Day!
Happy Travels!
