I came here after booking my Tour reservation directly off their Website on Wednesday February 21 2024.I was a bit apprehensive but it was easy I took the Local 42 Bus that takes you right there i there around 10 AM Thursday February 22 2024.I was impressed by The array of Aircraft they had a Curtis P 40 War Hawk,The Mitsubishi A6M Zero a Japanese Carrier Fighter Aircraft that like it's similar looking German Radial Engine Counterpart The Focke -Wulf FW 190A was a nasty surprise to Allied Fighter Pilots when it first showed up.Other Cool Planes like a Grumman Wildcat & Jets outside like The F-86 Sabre,F4 Phantom,F-15 Eagle,Mig 21 etc.If you're into Aircraft you will like this Exhibit.Added bonus I also saw some Lockheed F-22 Raptors Air Superiority Fighters doing some training exercises turns, rolls & dives overheard of The Pearl Harbor Area that was cool sight to witness. So would I recommend visiting this Aviation Museum..YES! 👍

Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum (PHAM) has a pair of aces up its sleeve:

1) A clear, intense narrative: Although there are plenty of more modern aircraft, at its core PHAM tells the history of the Asia-Pacific War, which makes so much sense because aircraft were key to this war, whether reconnaissance, transport, or attack. The Flying Tigers in China, the devastating first wave of Japanese "Kates" on 7 Dec, Doolittle's Mitchells, the cascade of SPD Dauntlesses plummeting at 250 knots toward Japanese carriers at Midway; it's a blood-pumping story, and although the scale of battle can be hard to imagine, the planes put the human element in perspective.

2) Private tours: Generally, we haven't booked private tours at museums (it can be pricey, especially for a family)--but at $10 apiece you'd be missing out to pass on this. Like the difference between a display of musical instruments versus a front-row concert seat, our guide completely brought the museum alive for us. We had three generations present, ages 9 to 76, and Steve was so engaging he had all of us asking questions or opening our eyes wide at the details he shared, both in the main gallery and in the restoration space. As soon as he finished we all knew we'd experienced something special. Absolutely a highlight of our time in Oahu.

We had been to Pearl Harbor before but we had not visited the Air Museum. We decided to see that and take the tower tour. We bought our tickets at the visitor center at Pearl Harbor then took the shuttle to the museum. We were extremely fortunate because Ford ( A docent) was giving a tour that we joined. He told us about every aircraft in the museum and stories relating to events that happened that day. Ford brought that day to life for us as we listened to him. I’m guessing maybe he was giving a hanger tour? I’m not sure but if I return I will inquire about his services. When you arrive we watched a 12 min video about Dec 7, 1941. The museum has two hangers to visit and some other aircraft out side to see up close. We really enjoyed our time here. If you are interested in history this is a must visit site.

The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is located on Ford Island and is well worth touring as part of a visit to the Pearl Harbor National Monument. Numerous aircraft are on display including vintage aircraft from WWII and fighter planes from the Korean, Viet Nam and Gulf wars. Visit Hangar 79 where you can still see the bullet holes in the windows from the attack on December 7, 1941. You can easily spend 2 hours or longer looking at all there is to see and experience at the museum. You need to board a free shuttle from near the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center to get out to Ford Field. Make sure to pick up the audio tour that is included with admission. The Pearl Harbor visitor center and museums are free, but you need a separate ticket to enter the Aviation Museum. Same goes for the USS Missouri and the USS Bowfin Submarine. It costs $25.99 for the Aviation Museum, or you can purchase a Passport to Pearl Harbor pass for $89.99 that includes all 3. This pass doesn't actually save you any money when visiting the 3 sites although it also includes an audio tour of the visitor center and a virtual reality experience which I thought was worthwhile. There is now the option of riding to the top of the Ford Island Control Tower for a bird's eye view of Pearl Harbor. The cost is an extra $20.

We had missed the museum last year, and heard fellow travels raving about it. Returning to Honolulu, we booked the museum and tower tour. Let me say, the air traffic tower tour was the highlight and our guide Tom brought history alive, we came away with more knowledge and respect for the Greatest Generation. The view is spectacular. Added advantage is the elevator and while I was apprehensive about climbing two flights of stairs to the top, it was easy. The museum is well laid out and tells the story of December 7, 1941 well. The aircraft are remarkable and please go to Hanger 79 to see restoration of WWII planes in progress. We had lunch in the cafeteria-well run and great food. I would like to add that the people at the museum are wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout out to Tom at the Tower - Mahola Tom from one history buff to another.

This is one of the museums you can visit while at Pearl Harbor. You must take a free bus there from the main area. It cost around $28 per person. This was my favorite of the three. Mainly because of the Bob Hope exhibit. I like many of the planes as well but the Bob Hope exhibit was unique. They also have a diner in the museum. Plus, you can do some add-ons were you get to do virtual reality. I would highly recommend people visit this place while they are at Pearl Harbor.

This is something we knew we needed to see on our next trip to Honolulu. This museum is located on Ford Island. If you booked a tour/ticket package, or if you booked on your own, you will park at the Pearl Harbor memorial ($7 to park) and take a free shuttle over to the museum. If you have military base access then you can drive to the island and park yourself in the parking lot. You check in at the main hanger. You can ask for a free audio tour. Pro tip, either bring your own plug in earbuds or visit the submarine museum at pearl harbor first (because they provide free cheap earbuds as part of the audio tour). Otherwise you have to hold up the device to your ear like a cell phone. However please do the audio tour! It is so much more information. We could have walked through the entire museum in about 30 minutes had it not been for the audio tour. So we were there for about 1.5 hours. There is a short movie in the main hanger, and then there are many planes, and some signage. This area is mostly about WWII. Then you move to the second hanger. Unfortunately right now about 90% of that hanger is closed due to refurbishment, so there isn’t much to see but there are a few places to scan your audio tour. After exiting the second hanger, there is a small building with a Bob Hope exhibit if that is interesting to you. After that, it is all outdoors. You get to walk around and see the different helicopters and planes that they have parked all there on the tarmac. Here is where it gets to be more of general aviation instead of WWII focused. It goes from 1940’s eras all the way to present day with the different jets they have set up. For an extra cost you can do the flight simulator in the first hanger, or you can go to the top of the operations tower in the separate building next to the main hanger. In here there is also a small firehouse exhibit. You get a wristband so everyone knows you have paid admission when you are walking around and in between the areas. There is also a gift shop in the main hanger. Overall it was interesting, but as people who aren’t super into aviation, about 1.5 hours was perfect for us. If you have an aviation buff in your party this is an absolute must and budget around 2 hours. If you like history as well this is an interesting place to go and see a lot of different aircraft!

Some good airplanes, helicopters and jets from different time periods. Worth seeing. Get to the Aviation Museum at the Smithsonian if you ever get a chance.

I am a retired Air Force maintenance man I worked on several of those aircraft F105F4T 33. I was very very disappointed in how they were maintain and they looked. The F-15 was my pride and joy, and it look like a shamble strut, collapsing nose gear, very high, they needed paint jobs everything out there was in bad shape, missing tires, missing things on the aircraft, flat tires, very very disappointed i am a shame at the way the aircraft that are used to work on, or maintain and displayed.

This is by far one of the COOLEST museum's I've ever been to. I love history, and Pearl Harbor has always been something that fascinated me since I was young. When I saw there was a aviation museum, it was a MUST. I love planes and combine that with Pearl Harbor, say less.

You park at the visitor center, and walk in to take the shuttle. The shuttle comes every 15 minutes. There's no access into Ford Island unless you're military or on a shuttle. The drive took 10 minutes or so with the first stop at the USS Missouri. It was awesome seeing it up close. There's so much history with this ship, and just seeing it was jaw dropping.

When you get to the museum, you see the control tower right outside, along with a older passenger plane. Right away I was excited. You walk in and instantly I got chills. I highly recommend asking for the audio walkthrough, you can hear more information on everything inside. When you walk into the hanger, WOW.. I was blown away. There were so many different WW2 planes, from the P40 to to Zero, to the B17. I literally stared at every piece for minutes before going on to the next. I read each exhibit and listened to everything on the audio piece. There's just so much history, and I was fascinated 100%. You really learn about the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was really really cool. The staff there were super friendly and answered a lot of questions I had. We had a really good conversation. He had a lot of knowledge and was very honest. Thank you!

There's a flight simulator you can try for $10, we didn't do that but it looks really cool as you're flying over Pearl Harbor.

When you're done here, you walk outside to the left, and BOOM! There's a whole fleet of different planes. It was like walking into a candy store for me. You can literally walked right next to, under each plane, up close! There's all types of military planes, Army, Navy, Air Force etc. There's a Blue Angel, F14, F16, different helicopters. The hanger is under construction but you can see inside it. There's engines and different parts. Just standing outside on the actual floor was breath taking. You can see the actual bullet holes on the glass. This was where it all happened. This was probably one of the coolest things I'ver ever seen. My GF had a really good time too and she was very impressed.

I had to pick up a few things at the gift shop. This was probably one of the best things we did on the trip right before we left. I HIGHLY recommend coming here and seeing a bit of US history. I'm definitely coming back again, no questions about it.
