We went into the Old Faithful Inn just to see it from inside. It was quite nice but very crowded due to all the visitors. We saw the main hall and some music was being played. I would not want to stay there as it seemed very busy

Super excited to see this architectural wonder!! So beautiful and glad it’s well maintained!
The lobby/area is incredible and to walk upstairs and look around a delight. I was amazed at how old and well kept the logs are. The design masterful. Loved the chairs and huge fireplace.
Our disappointment was with the dining room. We had reservations and I called to ask if we could move them to an earlier time. “Yes” the man said… just ask at the hostess desk. We did… nope… so we walked around. Enjoyed the lounge/bar. The dining room was half full for the entire night. Yes, staffing… but two people. So there’s that!
We finally got seated early with another couple who had no reservations!

After viewing Old Faithful erupt, we walked over and explored this iconic structure.
The lobby area is a wood-centric and stone architectural masterpiece; deserving of some thoughtful observation and historical appreciation.
We decided to try the buffet lunch. The offerings were decent; but the real highlight was being able to further immerse oneself in this compelling atmosphere.
Once we finished enjoying our time of visiting this amazing site, we were fortunate enough to be greeted by another Old Faithful eruption; making for a satisfying punctuation to the whole experience.
Whether or not one is seeking lodging at this historic establishment; it most certainly
warrants a visit.

You MUST stay here! The Old Faithful Inn is considered the “Crown Jewell” in the National Park Lodges and I assure you it does not disappoint. Normally you should reserve a year in advance. It’s difficult to book a room on short notice here but sometimes you get lucky. Ask for a room in the Old House. Especially if you’re a history buff. This is the original section and the rooms look almost identical today as they did when the Inn was built. Some of the rooms will have bathrooms but others will have shared bathrooms. I understand the shared bathrooms are very clean and it’s part of the rustic charm of the Inn. We have stayed in the Old House portion with a private bathroom. Evidently only 8 rooms were made with bathrooms so another reason to book early. I’m fairly certain some of the room furnishings were original. Original logs lined the walls and elegant operating radiators provided the heat which we needed even in June. There was no shower in our room. A claw foot tub, and water wand attachment were in our room. With carefully placed towels you could shower off but don’t plan on a leisurely soak unless you’re taking a bath. The hotel additions that aren’t original are still nice and you won’t be too far from the lobby (which is where you should plan on spending some serious time). The newer rooms are more reasonably priced and you still get terrific ambience. More modern bathrooms include a tub/shower combo. Some new rooms even have actual views of Old Faithful Geyser.
In the evening, plan on grabbing a latte or other hot drink at the little coffee station tucked away on the second level and listen to the live music wafting through the entire lobby. You can step out on the deck and watch Old Faithful or Grand Geyser erupt. Truly magical. If you don’t have the time or budget to stay at the inn, you must visit regardless. The lobby and other public areas are open to the public. Considering the Inn is owned by the National Park Service take time to revel in this grand building you own! There are Inn tours daily that are free and they help give insite into the fascinating history of this magnificent marvel of architecture. Pro Tip: when you know the date(s) you will be visiting call the Bell Captains desk at the inn directly and ask to help lower the flag. They usually allow 8 or fewer people to accompany the Bell Captain to the top of the Widows Walk to lower the flags over the Inn. What a privilege it is to participate in this ceremony! Considering the general public hasn’t been allowed above the 3rd floor since the late 40’s this is the only way you can access the “Crows Nest” and the top of the inn. The view is magnificent and if you’re lucky you’ll be able to witness a geyser erupting while you’re up there. If you get vertigo, are afraid of heights don’t do this one. The stairs are open and you can see 6 floors below with each step up. This is normally done at 5:45 pm.
I do not think you have to be a paying guest to participate. Two people in our group of 6 were not staying at the inn when we were there in June of 2013. The dining room only serves buffet style meals and we were not impressed. The only reason to eat here is so you can soak in as much history as possible without fighting the crowds at all of the other dining venues in the Upper Geyser Basin are. An hour and a half driving or walking to another venue is an hour and a half you could be enjoying this amazing place. There’s a snack bar on site and although pricey has decent sandwiches and other options. If you can’t stay here, at least spend some time here marveling at what a 29 year old architect with a 6th grade education along with master craftsman and laborers accomplished in a year with just horses, sleds and determination.

We absolutely loved the Old Faithful Inn's gift shop! It is large and has a wide variety of souvenirs and gifts, and at reasonable prices! The Assistant Manager Nick and all of his staff were so helpful! I highly recommend stopping in for your Yellowstone gifts!

Facilities were adequate (what you would expect for a historic hotel), Buffet was not worth the money. We ate the buffet for dinner and breakfast and wished we had skipped it. The deli had good sandwiches and adequate Breakfast items. Could not beat the view of Old Faithful and all the many geysers on the grounds. Would definitely stay here again!

We were only there one night in the frontier cabins (with shower and sink). Two couples, two cabins. The cabins were very clean (kudos to Old Faithful staff), but so you know up front, they are small. We talked to people who rented for a week and they were happy as well. No TV, no phone,no radio, double bed, small shower…just be prepared for that. Those points are not a criticism, we enjoyed ourselves. Park right by your cabin, short walk to Old Faithful. The education center was great and close. Several places to eat but pay attention to times. A couple are buffets…we weren’t ready for that yet, but we found alternatives. Staff at all locations very friendly and helpful.
Bottom line….great experience and we would recommend as a more economical alternative at Old Faithful.

Old Faithful Inn er et imponerende bygningsværk både set udefra og indefra. Det er utroligt at man kan bygge en så stor konstruktion i træk. Man skal helt klart bruge lidt tid i restauranten eller i en af barerne - hvor man sidde og betragte de mange facinerede elementer af bygningen.

We have stayed at this inn and have always enjoyed it. Within view of the Old Faithful Geyser makes it a stunning location. Our stay was comfortable and we all had good nights of rest. We loved it.

We spent our first night and our last night here at Old Faithful Inn. Just love the main portion of the Inn as it is so historic and beautiful in its own right. By the way I think I need to add that WiFi is sporadic throughout the park and sometimes you can be hiking or walking along and you get a signal. Stop call home or send your message from that location as they will go through however, make it short and send one picture at a time, not a whole bunch as those will fail.

Hello, we are staying in the Old Faithful Inn West Wing Standard Room 1 Queen. The room description is "These rooms offer attractive modern furnishings with one or two queen size beds and a private bath. They come with either a tub/shower or shower only." Is there a toilet in the room? Thank you.

Yes, there is a toilet, but everything on that side is a tight fit. The east wing rooms had more space.

June 2018, our family of 4 will be staying at Old Faithful Inn for two nights. We will have our own bicycles. 2 adventurous, 2 not so adventurous. Never been there before and not sure what bicycle trails to take to maximize our limited time there. Any suggestions?

I did see some bicycles on the roads...Yellowstone consists of mountain road loops, you can drive parts of the loops if you want (lower loop; upper loop; grand loop), which descend & ascend with some straight parts. If you want to see everything, the car would be the best and safest way to go. Contact Old Faithful for wise advice. We did the grand loop, started early. It takes all day, glad we did it, but the roads can be challenging.
Old Faithful was always a great ending spot, a lot to see & eat & do there. Gets crowded. Starting early you don't have as much crowds and better parking at the various vistas. Saw the Yellow bus tours which take people to places rather than driving yourself. Have a great trip, so much to see & enjoy!

We were there in October so I can't be sure about the temperature in July. However, it was warm because it is a wide open area with grass, gravel, and blacktop.

I am planning a trip to Yellowstone with my mother who is 80 years old. She has always wanted to see Yellowstone but now has mobility issues. Can anyone point me in the right direction for hotels, sites, restaurants and things to do that are accessible? She can walk and take some stairs, but not many flights at a time. She is mostly sure-footed but can handle some bumps. We visited Charleston recently and she did not do well on cobblestones. Thank you for any help you can offer.
