Apo is very remote 6 nauticals from Dumaguete and its very basic not develop doesn't have pier/port for docking, no water no electricity. Apo Island is one of the world’s best known community-organized marine sanctuaries, and as such it has been well documented by the global science community. At present, the island is home to over 650 documented species of fish and estimated to have over 400 species of corals. Most of the Philippines’ 450 species of coral can be found here, from tiny bubble corals to huge gorgonian sea fans and brain corals and home to 50+ turtles cause of the abundance of food. This alone makes you want to visit and enjoy apo. With regards to the trip we have to follow government rules for the sustainability of Apo island. We cannot just dock and throw anchor cause we will be destroying the corrals. Throwing anchor everyday kills them. Apo doesn't have the facilities no pier/port that's why we tie our boats to buoy. Just enjoy what apo can offer swim snorkel and enjoy the fresh air clean water good visibility and scenery. We will check our gear we have 30+ bcds and 50+ regulators. Its a small leak its only an oring. just change oring and put some silicone or our guides usually bring spare on the boat bcd, regs and mask. A little leak in the recreational diving dive profile wont harm you as long you follow the guides dive profile. you have 200 bars of air in a 12 liters tank. With our guides dive profile 18meters max depth and 45-60 minutes dive. you wont run our of air. You even come out with 100 bar or 50 bar. We are recreational dive shop not a technical dive shop. Again thank you for reminding us we will now look after this bcds who is self inflating. We clean maintained and fix them daily we have 2 staff who looks after that. Ill remind them now. You money is not wasted part of it was paid marine park fees, conservation fees and entrance fee for the sustainability of apo island :-) Again a big thanks and hopefully you come back one day again and stay in the island and snorkel again.

We are sorry for your bad experience diving with us. We have 30+ bcds on the shop. We have new one and some have 300 dives already but we maintained fix them daily for safety of guests. Sorry also there was a leak on the tank valve probably an oring problem. We have orings at the boat and silicone. That could have been fix easily and the instructor on board bring spares extra regulator, extra mask and extra bcd. Am also sorry about internet response cause our providers here are slow connection. The best way is to visit the shop 7am to 11 am and 2pm to 5pm and hostel lobby we are open 24 hrs a day. All your complains are noted and we will correct this asap. Btw we cannot do full refund cause we have to pay marine park fees, conservation fees and entrance fee to the island and also we got you an insurance for that day. Thanks for joining our snorkeling trip to Apo island :-) We are doing our best despite governments regulations. The 1 hour waiting on the boat to get CLEARANCE to SAIL TO APO and the PAMBI/DENR regulation limiting the number of people to snorkeling/dive at a certain time and site. This is for sustainability of Apo island. Yes we served filipino food on board. You are always welcome to bring extra food. NO SINGLE USED PLASTIC used reusable bags NO STYROFOAM use tupperware NO PLASTIC FORK SPOON AND CUPS we can provide them on the boat just request from boat crew. Thank you very much for choosing Harolds. We are thankful for your review so that we can improved our services. With regards to waiting time at the dock. This is BEYOND OUR CONTROL. WE HAVE TO ASK GOVERNMENT CLEARANCE FROM THE COASTGUARD to SAIL TO APO. This is very time consuming and tedious. We have been asking them can they do something about this? They said we have to follow government law. When we arrived in Dauin / Dock captain has the list of passengers MANIFESTO and we submit to COASTGUARD personnel. They check guests background. They check daily the 15 licenses of the boat and crew of the boat If they have licenses. Everyday different personnel of coast guard. They also want to see all guests are wearing life vest and usually they come up to the boat and check life rings,life rafts (blue barrels on the side), fire extinguishers, fire ax, oxygen etc. After that they give us CLEARANCE to SAIL to Apo island same with coming back to mainland we have again to ask CLEARANCE to SAIL BACK. The PAMBI/ DENR keep changes its rule for the sustainability of Apo island we have to respect there decisions. Once arrived our staff will get a Apo trained snorkeling guide. They have to come to the boat so we have to wait for that and also there is a number of people allowed per 30 minutes on the turtle area. We cannot just jump and swim we will be ticketed.
