Despite the small exterior, the inside is filled to the brim with history. As an islander, I'd say this is a hidden gem in need of more attention. Strongly recommend visiting.

We dropped into this museum while waiting for kids at the haunted mansion across the street. It was a great surprise. Looks tiny from the outside but has lots to see inside. Large collection of the islands military history and my husband could have spent many hours there. We will definitely visit again.

Regardless of what part of the history you like to study it is always worth the trip to visit them all. This is how you learn more. This is a small building but has lots of interest and loaded with info for the size of it.

We've been to PEI four times in the last six years, and have tried unsuccessfully to go to this museum every time. WIthout fail, there is always a "closed"sign hanging out front. My husband is a veteran and military historian and would love to see it. Very disappointing that we can never get in.

The Museum is but a few minutes walk down the main road from the Kensington Railway building and Island Stone Pub.
Situated next to the town Royal Canadian Legion Hall (similar to the US "American Legion" and VFW "Veteran of Foreign Wars"), the museum looks and is small, but is packed with artifacts. It has 2 floors, and the circular layout helps to display the vast amount of memorabilia.
No admission fee as its set up and maintained by volunteers, but there is a donations drop-box in the form of a hollowed out bomb. I think it's worth donating 5 or 10 bucks )or even a bit more) for what they have on display there.
It is not open year-round, but seasonally from June to September, daily from 9:30am-4:30pm with some by appointment up to the end of November.
Stop in, spend time with history, and then enjoy a walk up to the center of a small PEI town.

Went with my parents, sister in law and three nephews (6,9,10). The kids loved looking at the uniforms, my parents the context history and my sister in law, the letters from soldiers during WWI and WWII. My brother has served in the military as a Peacekeeper so we may be more interested than most but this museum is a real gem. Better than most military museums. It is amazing what they can exhibit in such a small space. Well worth the time spent. Will go back again the next time I visit PEI. Thanks to the Legion for doing such a great job educating the public and honouring brave men and women.
