John picked us up at our holiday adress and drive us to Skye. He told us so much about Scotland. The kids loved it as well and were quiet and enjoying the views. John is very friendly and flexible, he had no problems my husband did a short running trail at Storr. John is the one you must call or email if you want to have a real special trip in the Highlands.

If you don't have a car and want a customized tour of the wonderful sites around Inverness, you cannot beat a tour with John McCormack of seethehighlands. He picked my husband and I up (and arrived ahead of time!) at our B&B and made us feel comfortable from the very start. He has a vast knowledge of the history and natural things around Inverness and catered our tour to exactly what we wanted plus some unexpected little extras he added. He picked up on my every suggestion including our wanting to see lots of animals in addition to the various sites we wanted to see. John is so enthusiastic and personable that we felt like we were touring with a friend! I can't say enough good things about how well organized and careful he is. We managed to see the following places, all without rushing, in an 8 hour span. It was worth every penny. Urquhart Castle, Beauly Prior, Fortrose cathedral, Culloden, Clava Cairns, Cawdor castle, the great viaduct, and a couple of other unexpected places. And of course lots of animals, even some clydesdale horses! Thanks so much, John for our perfect day!

What a fantastic day we had with John! John was personable, knowledgable, organized, very flexible and prompt. We saw everything we wanted to see and more. We had discussed our itinerary over email and along the way John showed us a few other things that we would never have seen had we been on a ship excursion.The stop at Clava Cairns was amazing and is a MUST on any tour of the area. John was very informative when explaining the site and made the experience that much more interesting. We highly recommend a tour with John if you want to learn a lot about the Inverness area. Thanks for a wonderful experience and for being such a great ambassador for Scotland. This tour was the highlight of our trip!

I booked John for a private tour for my husband and myself for our cruise stop in Invergordon on our British Isles cruise. He is an excellent guide and we really enjoyed our day. It was easy to book ahead of time. He answered all my questions via email when we booked, and followed up before the cruise. He was prompt at the port. We talked about what we wanted to see (Inverness, Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle, etc.) and he made a suggested plan for the day which worked out very well. We saw a lot and were not rushed. We had time to stop to take photos while driving in between places. We stopped along small roads to see beautiful vistas, wildlife (hairy coos! and Clydesdale horses), bridges, etc. We first went to Cawdor Castle and beat the group crowds. We then went to Inverness. We appreciated that while we had time to explore Inverness on our own, he suggested we just pick up sandwiches and eat back in his van on the way to the next stop, so we did not spend all our time in the town at a restaurant. In the afternoon we went to Urquhart Castle. We really enjoyed our day. I would recommend John for any cruiser stopping in Invergordon. He is friendly, professional, and knows so much about the area.

We were 5 cousins who made the same trip our mothers had made together in 1982. Out great grandfather and grandmother left the highlands to go to America In December 1867. We had a picture of the house he grew up in and a picture of the school where he taught school. We had an address on Shore street in Hilton. John was so wonderful to find the house and the school. John was so patient with us.... as we are all senior citizens. He also took us across the Nigg ferry and showed us many other wonderful sights. We highly recommend John as a tour guide of the Highlands!

We hired John to take a group of 6 of us around the Highlands for our shore excursion day. He was waiting for us with his roomy van and did an excellent job of driving us around the Highlands and giving us a commentary of the area as we went. As the weather was a bit challenging, we worked with John to tweak our itinerary to try to take best advantage of the day. We visited Cawdor Castle, the Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield and drove by Urquhart Castle, Beauty, Loch Ness and Inverness. Despite our late port arrival time, thanks to John, we managed to get a good overview of this lovely area and arrived back at the ship in a timely way.

We selected See The Highlands private tour which took four of us to Dunrobin Castle, the Falls of Shin, Millionaires View and Dornoch. Donnie was an excellent tour guide and a very caring and concerned individual, as one person in our party was not well. He went out of his way for us. Dunrobin Castle was a real highlight with it's falconry show. The tour itself for four people was very affordable (way less than the cruise line's 50-passenger tours) and we were able to customize our entire day

If you are travelling by train, plane or boat and need transport in the highlands, John is the person to call. John has such a knowledge and passion about the area that even just transportation from point A to point B is so much more, as he will stop to allow you to take pictures, explain the history and current goings-on of the various locales throughout the highlands and also even go off track if there is something worth seeing. He is a great source of local knowledge and advice on where to go and what to visit. He is prompt and professional and his minibus is new and clean. A trip or two with John on your visit to the highlands can add so much more to the experience.

We booked two tours in the same week, and both days were very enjoyable and entertaining. Western Scotland and Skye are fantastically beautiful places, and John is a wonderful tour host. Highly recommended!

We booked a private tour with John. John is so friendly and so passionate . Everything about the tour was exceptional. He was waiting for us at our cruise ship port, he had a luxurious van. First we visited beautiful Cawdor Castle. Then we got a good first taste of the Scottish Highlands with their blooming heather and it took our breath away! . After a beautiful drive along Loch Ness and a short break with time for lunch (delicious!) and a great view of Urquhart Castle, John brought us to Highland Cows and the imposing Clydesdale horses, helping us to come closer to these animals and take photos with them. We enjoyed a visit of Glen Ord Distillery, toured through the distillery and had an overview of the whiskey process. The tasting afterwards is great , with enough time and space to enjoy it. We don´t want to forget to mention that John even changed the sequenz of the planed tour (after asking for permission), to always fit the rapidly changing weather. So we always had sunshine when we wanted to get out of the car and were driving when it was raining. He must have an excellent feeling for the local weather. We could not have asked for a better day and better host and strongly recommend the tour. A pleasant day well spent with fond memories......we would love to return...someday...

We intend to tour Scotland in early July but we have only 4 days there before we need to fly back home. Due to the limited time in Scotland, we would like to see the highlands (Isle of Skype, Loch Ness, Inverness etc) and do not have the luxury of time to see the distillery / wine tasting etc. We intend to move from Birmingham (after attending our child's graduation ceremony there) to Edinburgh to start our Scotland trip. Please advise how we should move and where we could get a experience tour guide/driver

I highly recommend John McCormack's guided tours of the Highlands. His company is called See the Highlands. He is based in Lochcarron but I think he sometimes picks people up in Inverness, and in any case there is a beautiful train ride from Inverness to Strathcarron near Lochcarron.
