Overall, the views were stunning and the wine was very good. We also had lunch at a small farm, which was lovely. Sergio was always very professional in his communication with us. And, I did appreciate the flexibility for a vegetarian lunch! A couple notable letdowns for us: first, Myriam was not very friendly. She was a bit standoffish, and seemed annoyed when I asked questions. My husband started chuckling because every answer she had was a one word answer, so I just stopped asking. She also smoked very close to the van, so the van smelled like smoke. We were expecting a bottle of water or something for us in the van like tours we have been on before, but there isn’t any—so bring your own. At the lunch, we didn’t pay the owner and got in the car to leave. Myriam said to me sternly, “didn’t you read the email? Look at your email. Lunch isn’t included. You need to pay.” First- I didn’t realize the total cost (tour plus lunch) wasn’t simply paid to her at the end (where the tour pays the lunch place) like typically happens. I knew there was a cost for lunch, but we sat at the table for a while and no one came to get our credit card, so we assumed we were supposed to pay Myriam at the end (which would include the additional lunch added on). Myriam was rude and frankly condescending when she admonished me about the email. All she had to do was simply state, “I’m not sure if you knew, but actually you pay them directly. Sorry for the mixup.” Instead, she harped on it and was not very kind.
The first winery we ordered over $250 worth of wine (shipping is VERY expensive!!!). We still haven’t received it. We were told it could take up to a month, but it’s been over that and UPS doesn’t have an update. The winery Monteronaldi waits for a bunch of shipments and then sends them all out. So plan on it taking 2-3 months if you even see your wine. Two other wineries we visited (not on this tour) sent our wine immediately and we received it 2 weeks later.
So- my recommendation is to take the tour with Sergio maybe, and don’t order any wine to be shipped from the wineries.

Overall, it was a great experience. Sergio was very responsive, communicative and flexible leading up the tour.
The tour itself was led by Myriam, who was great. Myriam was knowledgeable, flexible and a pleasure to be with.
The two wineries visited were intimate and provided adequate attention to us, and had great wines. We also really enjoyed the contrast before a medium and small winery.
Thank you to Sergio and Myriam for making it a great experience for us.

Chianti 90+
Sergio picked up for a day trip to the Chianti region and lunch at a local vineyard. We prefer smaller producers and the two that were selected didn’t disappoint. During the drive we learned about the 3 levels of Chianti and what each meant and for any level the wine will primarily of Sangiovese grapes varying by the different levels. Each level requires authentication to be labeled a Chianti wine. The wineries we visited were Castello Monterinaldi & Gagliole. Each provided a tour of their wine making, cellars, and tasting.
Castello Monterinaldi Winery
After our cellar tour which included cement, terra cotta and wood barrels we headed to lunch. This was the first winery where we saw cement barrels the size of your typical small wine barrel something we haven’t since in all of our previous winery tours. Lunch was at Castello Monterinaldi which consisted of a 4-course meal and accompanying wine tasting. We would recommend this as one of the wineries you should visit while in Chianti. You will need to make reservations either through the winery or a guide, hire Sergio. The roads up the region can be difficult to navigate. You can ship to the US, we shipped two cases.
Gagliole
Next winery Gagliole, another cellar tour and tasting. The winery follows the typical barrel aging and making process. After our tour we had six different Chianti’s to try, another unique tasting. They are also another small producer which we appreciated. Instead of a four-course meal we had cheese and meat plate which was fine we were still very full from our lunch. We did ship some wine home also. Gagliole has a bed and breakfast if you want stay.
This completed our Chianti wine region tour; our next day would be super Tuscans wine tasting: Brunello.
Montalcino
Our second day started with Sergio picking up for our two-hour drive to the Montalcino region to taste the super Tuscan wines specifically Brunello. In this region unlike Chianti, you will experience many more blends from the Sangiovese. Our first stop on our tour was the medieval city of Montepulciano. We spent under an hour walking the city, touring the fortress and window shopping before heading over the mountain to our first wine tasting.
Corte Del Venti
It is a family owned very small producer. Unlike our first day our tour would start with a tour of the vineyard and olive groves where they explained how the soil is naturally fertilized through the use of plants instead of chemicals. Unlike Napa & Sonoma their soil consists mostly of rocks. After seeing their wine production site, we headed to lunch in the owners’ home, it was another 4-course meal pairing 6 wines to try. We did enjoy the Brunello shipping some back to the states.
After lunch we headed back over the mountain to our final tasting in Montalcino.
Capanna
Another multiple generational small family producer specializing in the award-winning Brunello wines. After our cellar tour, the tasting begun. We tried 6 different wines from rose, blends and Brunello. In the end choosing to ship the rose and Brunello home.
Comparing Chianti to Brunello, we preferred the Chianti, we felt they had bigger tastes.
All four wineries were tried were award winning, each very welcoming to share their wine and expertise on wine making. If you want to visit Tuscan and experience great wine, we would highly recommend all of these wineries. And finally let Sergio handle all the planning and driving just sit back and enjoy.
Our last day tour was to San Gimignano and Siena which we booked through Sergio but our guide was Maurizio. He picked us up at the hotel for the 2-hour drive to the central part of the Tuscany region. Maurizio shared all the history of both cities as you drove. Since we had been to Florence before these stops seemed good choices, both were fine but wouldn’t suggest them on your return trip instead focusing on the city of Florence and wineries.
You won't be disappointed booking all of these tours we highly recommend them

Booked this tour for 8 of us and Sergio set us up with Myriam. She picked us up at our air B&b in a large van and we spent the day traveling they the beautiful Tuscan countryside, enjoying wines at two small vineyards and a fabulous lunch at a restaurant in Greve. Both vineyards were lovely and we spent time with the jovial owner at Mauricio Brogioni Winery and tasted some great wine and olive oils and learned a great deal about winemaking from Lorenzo at La Sala Vineyards and tried their 4 niche wines. Lunch was at a beautiful small outdoor spot in Greve under blooming wisteria and the Tuscan landscape all around us. Communication and booking with Sergio was easy and you will be well cared for. A perfect day .

One of our favorite experiences in Italy was the day my daughter and I spent with Sergio driving through Tuscany to the towns of San Gimignano and Siena with a stop at a wonderful winery for lunch. As first-timers to Italy, Sergio's knowledge of the area and suggestions for the day's itinerary were invaluable. The van we traveled in was immaculate and comfortable. It is evident that he takes pride in providing excellent service. Highly Recommend!!!

Fantastic experience - we had three stops and found each interesting and delightful in their own way. Sergio is a pleasant, knowledgable guide with just the right amount of conversation vs knowledge sharing. And, of course, the wine was excellent.

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a day in Chianti with Sergio back in October. We are big wine lovers and the tour was well-tailored to our interests. Sergio was very easy to communicate with ahead of time as we planned the day together. We visited a small family production and a larger, more commercial winery -- both were fabulous for different reasons. Sergio did a great job picking us up at our Airbnb in Florence and navigating the winding streets of Tuscany. Having an expert driver really helped us relax and enjoy the experience. Highly recommend!

Hello Janet, I'm fully booked for May, but I can organize a tour to San Gimignano with one of my partners. We're based in Florence but there are alternatives for Arezzo. The best one is to catch the morning train to Florence and start the tour from there. Kindest regards, Sergio.

Hello Jake, thank you for your welcome request. Yes all my trips are available from San Giustino Valdarno. I only have a few dates left at the end of May, the sooner you contact me the better. Take a look at my site and let me know your preference for a tour.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards, Sergio.

Hello,
Me and my family will be in Sansepolcro at the end of August.
Do you serve this area? and if you do, how many people can you transport (we have a large group) and what is the cost per person?
Thanks

Hello Nicole,
Thank you for your welcome request, but unfortunately I don't think I can help you. I'm based in Florence and it's quite a drive to Sansepolcro. I would have to ask you a rather high fee. Also my vehicle seats a maximum of seven. I don't know anyone from the area, but try doing searches for wine tours from the surrounding towns. If you don't come up with anything let me know and I'll give you a quote, for two vans if necessary. Thanks so much for contacting me. Kindest regards, Sergio.

Hi We are Greve and would like to go on a full day tour of wineries in the Montipulciano region with a stop in a small town for lunch or at one of the wineries. There are four of us and would like to be picked up in Greve. Please recommend a tour. Thanks you

Loro Ciuffenna, Italia
Hello, thank you for your welcome request.
You didn't mention when you would like to do the tour. I'm booked for the coming week, but I can arrange your day with one of my partners, and I'm personally available for some dates later on.
I'd be happy to propose my "Valdorcia & Brunello Wine Tasting Tour." The tour is strictly private (the minivan will be for yourselves only), with numerous stops for photos and sightseeing. Pick up is directly from your accommodation.
The fee is €180 per person (4 participants = total of €720) including wine tasting and all travel costs from Greve.
Your wine tour of Tuscany (approx eight hours door to door) is inclusive of:
* Pick up and drop off directly from your accommodation.
* Scenic tour with stops for photos of Tuscany's most famous landscapes.
* Private tasting of highly rated Brunello, Brunello Reserve, and Rosso di Montalcino.
* Guided tour of a prestigious family winery.
* Visits and free time to tour the towns of Pienza & Montalcino.
* Recent model minivan with AC
Lunch isn't included, but I will suggest excellent inexpensive restaurants on the day.
No further extras are required.
I don't require a deposit, but I'd appreciate cash on the day.
ATM's are be easily found, and change very close to the official rate.
If you would like to book your tour, all I require is a short mail of confirmation, and please include your accommodation address. I will then send you a reservation confirming the date, pick up time from your accommodation, and fee as quoted.
Thank you once again, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards, Sergio.
